Reeves Says UK-US Trade Relationship Will Continue Under Trump

00:00I think it is too early to start making changes to forecast for our economy

00:08because of the election of a president in the United States.

00:13But I would say this, our trading relationship, our economic relationship

00:17with the United States is absolutely crucial.

00:19The US are our single biggest trading partner.

00:23Trade between our two countries I think is 311 billion pounds a year.

00:29So of course that relationship is crucial.

00:32And our special relationship obviously goes much beyond trade

00:36for our security and defense relationship as well.

00:41And I'm confident that those trade flows will continue under the new president.

00:48And indeed, President Trump has been president of the United States before.

00:53And we continue to have a strong and healthy economic relationship.

00:58And we as a government will continue to make the case for free trade.

01:03We are an open trading economy.

01:05We benefit from that with our trading relationships with Europe,

01:08with the Middle East, with Asia, and of course with the United States.
