Democratic candidate Kamala Harris' election night venue at her alma mater Howard University empties quickly after the vice president declined to make a speech as her Republican opponent Donald Trump took a decisive lead. Campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond instead pledged that the camp would work through the night to make sure every vote is counted.

00:05Her election night venue quickly emptying out after a campaign rep announced that the
00:11vice president would not be addressing the crowd on election night while votes were still

00:17The podium she was expected to speak at all wrapped up.
00:22He said that Harris will return to her alma mater, Howard University, on Wednesday to
00:26address supporters and the nation.
00:29The night began here at the historically black university with high hopes of witnessing a
00:34new era.
00:35Some supporters telling me that they were here to see the country's first Madame President.
00:41The path to victory appears to have slipped away, but still the Harris campaign's message
00:46to supporters is that they'll work through the night to make sure that every vote is
00:52counted.
