00:00It's the day of truth for Harris and Trump.
00:03It's been years in the making.
00:05Can you tell us what exactly they're doing today?
00:09We just saw Trump, but how are they spending the day
00:11and what are their plans for the evening
00:13as the results start coming in?
00:18Yeah, well, I was listening to that press conference
00:20with Donald Trump at the end of his voting
00:22before we came on air.
00:23And I'll give you a bit of a rundown of what he said there.
00:26Earlier in the day, he called this the most important day
00:29in American history.
00:30He has told his supporters to stay in line,
00:34regardless of when they get to the polling place.
00:36He told them to stay in line and vote.
00:38He said that the Republican lines
00:39have been longer than ever before.
00:41I must say, I don't know how he knows that
00:43because you don't exactly have Democratic lines
00:45and Republican lines at polling stations.
00:47Everybody's just all together.
00:49But he has said that he has seen some data
00:51that says that he's doing very well.
00:53Of course, he has said these kind of things
00:56in the past as well.
00:57He also said that Democrats could leave the line, though.
01:00So Donald Trump perhaps trying to get his voters
01:03to stay a bit longer than the opposition.
01:05But he was also asked some questions, importantly,
01:07about whether he was going to declare victory
01:09on election night.
01:11And he said that it depended what would happen.
01:13Of course, widely, a lot of analysts believe
01:15that he will declare victory on election night,
01:18regardless of whatever happens.
01:19He also, interestingly, I thought, mentioned Pennsylvania.
01:22Now, we know that there is going to be a bit of a delay
01:25in the results in Pennsylvania.
01:27And he kind of alluded to this, saying that he's been told
01:31and he's heard that it's going to take a couple of days.
01:33So is he laying the groundwork there
01:35for potentially something to be announced later this evening?
01:39It's also a different sort of rhetoric that we heard
01:41from him in the last election about the delayed vote count,
01:44at least this time around.
01:46For example, he is conceding that there could be a delay
01:49in that counting, which is an interesting development,
01:52but that we've not really heard from him before.
01:54So something to take note of there.
01:56He was also asked whether he wins or loses,
01:59that this would be the last time he would be campaigning.
02:03And he said, yes, it was.
02:04So he's echoing what he's said before in the past.
02:07So Donald Trump now then going back to Mar-a-Lago,
02:11where he'll be spending most of the day
02:12down there in Florida.
02:14He said that he may head over to the convention center
02:17that they've booked out in Mar-a-Lago
02:19to talk to his 3,000 or 4,000 supporters,
02:21he said, that have been gathered there
02:23at that convention center,
02:25where the rest of the press is also convening as well.
02:28And Kamala Harris' team is still continuing
02:31to try to get out the vote this morning.
02:33Governor Walz, for example, her vice presidential nominee
02:36is holding a rally in Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia,
02:40to try to get, sorry, in Allentown
02:41to try to get that vote out as well.
02:43So the work continues for the Democratic side,
02:47and Kamala Harris will be here in DC later on this evening
02:50for her election night party,
02:52which will be taking place at Howard University,
02:55which is where we'll be later on this evening.
02:57And that, of course, being her alma mater,
02:59the university that she attended and got her degree from.
03:02So a real kind of full circle moment
03:04for Kamala Harris this evening here in DC.
03:08Now, Fraser, integrity of the vote, safety of voting,
03:13these are not normally huge concerns for Americans,
03:16but this is not a normal election cycle.
03:19Have we been hearing of any issues
03:21at polling stations so far?
03:26Yeah, we've heard a couple of things
03:27coming out of Fulton County in Georgia.
03:29Of course, that name will probably ring a bell to you.
03:32That is where Donald Trump has been facing
03:33one of his legal battles in Fulton County
03:36for the way he conducted himself
03:38during the last presidential election campaign.
03:41Well, we have heard that there have been, quote,
03:44five non-credible bomb threats
03:46at two polling stations in Fulton County,
03:50which caused two polling stations
03:51to be evacuated for around 30 minutes each.
03:55We've also heard of a couple of issues
03:57at a couple of polling stations in Illinois,
04:00in the Chicago area,
04:02but that was a technical issue, we are told.
04:05But the government is keeping an eye
04:08not just on the domestic threat and domestic issues,
04:12but also the international threats as well.
04:15We got a statement late last night from the FBI,
04:18the ODNI, the Office for the Director
04:20of National Intelligence,
04:22and also from the CISA.
04:26We can bring this up on screen for you now.
04:27I'll read a bit of it for you.
04:28It says,
04:29influence actors linked to Russia,
04:31in particular, are manufacturing videos
04:33and creating fake articles
04:35to undermine the legitimacy of the election
04:37and instill fear in voters regarding the election process
04:40and suggest Americans are using violence
04:42against each other to political preferences.
04:45It then finishes,
04:46we anticipate Russian actors will release
04:47additional manufactured content
04:49with those themes through election day
04:51and in the days and weeks after polls close.
04:53While the FBI has said today
04:55that they are tracking another fake news clip,
04:58which was telling people to stay home
05:00and not go to the polling stations
05:02for fear of political violence.
05:04But so far, that violence has not manifested itself
05:08and we'll be keeping an eye on that as it continues.
05:11I'm getting updated from the FBI
05:14and those other two intelligence agencies
05:16throughout the day.
05:17So just a very clear message
05:18to any Americans who may be watching,
05:20it is safe to vote,
05:22go out and use your constitutional right to vote.
05:26Fraser Jackson in Washington,
05:28thank you so much.
05:29And we'll be checking in with you a lot
05:31over the next day.
05:32See you soon.
