An overbearing "joke" or a gag gone wrong has been identified as a possible motive behind the alleged bullying and abuse of a Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) cadet, according to Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

00:26He said police investigation revealed that the alleged victim, a junior cadet, and his
00:32senior were talking during the incident, with one asking if the other had tried placing
00:37an iron on the chest.
00:39He said police found no elements of revenge or fighting, and no other parties were involved.
00:44He said police believed that it was a joke gone wrong, but stressed that such an action
00:49was dangerous and should not happen.
00:52The police said their investigation is nearly completed, and they had recorded statements
00:56from 16 individuals, including cadet officers, coaches and roommates.
01:02The investigation paper has been referred to the Attorney General's Chambers, but authorities
01:07are still awaiting the medical report on the junior cadet.
