Bullying will not be tolerated at any university or educational institution in the country, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the Temu Anwar programme at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on Friday (Nov 1).

00:00The 1st of November, 2024, at the National Defence University of Malaysia.
00:12Discipline in other universities is important.
00:16It is very important at this university.
00:20I mentioned to the Vice-Chancellor earlier,
00:23there are five senior assistants at Sungai Buloh.
00:27Coincidentally, during my training at Sungai Buloh,
00:30I met them.
00:32The students were nice, polite, smart.
00:36I couldn't stay for long because I was under strict supervision.
00:40I asked some of the supervisors to sympathise with me
00:45because I wanted to meet them.
00:46What was their problem?
00:48They were a small group.
00:51They didn't represent the entire student body.
00:55But the culture allowed them to do so.
00:58It was a culture of bullying and gangsterism
01:03in our education system,
01:06at national schools, Chinese schools, Tamil schools,
01:10Mahatma Tafi, religious schools.
01:12So, this was a challenge for us.
01:15The supervisors, the Vice-Chancellor, the professors, the speakers.
01:19What I mean is,
01:21in education and training programmes,
01:24the aspects of values and morals are emphasized.
01:28Because of our weaknesses,
01:32we are permissive,
01:35we give in,
01:37we are tolerant of bullying.
01:40It cannot happen if the culture rejects that.
01:44It creates a tradition and culture
01:48because it is generally accepted.
01:51And this is a sickening thing.
01:54This is what is happening in our country.
01:57That is why I told the Minister of Education,
02:01don't reject bullying.
02:04We have given advice,
02:07don't reject bullying at all
02:10because it doesn't happen separately.
02:15It happens because of the culture that we maintain.
02:18So, I want to reiterate that.

02:22Because what does it mean to be smart, talented, great
02:26and noble without values, morals and morals?
