Malaysia strongly condemns the provocative act by North Korea which not only causes instability in the region but is also inconsistent with humanitarian values accepted by all, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In his special address titled "Strategic Partners in a Complex World: Malaysia, Korea, and the Future of Asia” at Seoul National University on Tuesday (Nov 26), Anwar said any provocations by Pyongyang could disrupt the whole process of bringing peace to the region and cause further uncertainty.

00:00Well, I mean, I must make a reference because I'm in Korea. People ask me about the North
00:08Korean challenge. To me, it's not difficult at all to suggest that any attempt, I mean,
00:19whatever power, policy, missiles, nuclear they want to have for themselves, I mean,
00:23that's a different issue. But the moment is deemed to be provocative or a challenge
00:29to any other state, and it's, for this matter, are okay, then we condemn. That's why Malaysia
00:36takes a strong position. We condemn the provocation by North Korea because it is inconsistent
00:48with the values, not only by we, except, but humanitarian values, peace, stability in the
00:56region, because it is disrupting the whole process. The whole region is in uncertainty.
01:02In Malaysia, I happen to be Minister of Finance, our highest budget allocation is for education.
01:11Number two, for public health. But if I happen to have neighbours, like I'm in the Middle
01:17East or here, my number one allocation has got to be defence, because without peace and
01:23security, we can focus on education in other fields.
