00:00The Palais Garnier, the historic opera house of the Paris Opera, will close for a two-year
00:05renovation starting mid-2027. Following this, the newer Opera Bastille, which opened in 1989,
00:11will undergo its own renovation for at least two years beginning mid-2030. The combined
00:17renovation costs for both iconic venues are estimated to exceed 200 million euros by 2030,
00:23this according to France's Court of Accounts. The report highlights that both buildings are
00:28aging and have suffered from long-term underfunding. During the renovations, the opera
00:33plans to keep one stage open in Paris while also performing in other locations across France.
