00:00Atul Pandey from Delhi Technical University, Sir, you once said that the future is not
00:15controlled by God, but various forces are acting simultaneously creating unpredictable
00:23future events.
00:25I love this teaching of yours, but when I read Yoga Vashishtha, I found that in some
00:33chapters Guru Vashishtha conveyed to Lord Ram the conversation between Krishna and Arjuna
00:42happening in the future.
00:43How is that possible?
00:46How could Guru Vashishtha know that Mahabharata is going to happen?
00:49Please throw some light on it.
00:53The answer is contained in the Gita itself, you see.
01:01Shri Krishna tells Arjuna, Arjuna, there has been no time, no place when I have not been
01:14there or you have not been there.
01:20So he says the two of us are always there.
01:25Since the beginning of time, there is you and there is me.
01:31It says that I am there even before beginning of time, but nevertheless, since t is equal
01:41to zero, the beginning of time, you are there, I am there.
01:50Similarly he says elsewhere that this knowledge, Arjuna, that I am imparting to you right now
01:58is eternal.
02:02It came directly from the central source to one sage who transmitted it to the next one
02:13and to the next one and that entire sequence has now come to you and me.
02:23So surely both Krishna and Arjuna are not little figures within the boundary of their
02:38respective lifetimes and similarly what has been expressed in the Gita is not knowledge
02:54relevant to a particular situation or to a particular place or persons, getting it?
03:05There is timelessness in Krishna, in Arjuna and in the words of Gita.
03:17Shri Krishna talking to Arjuna is never a future event.
03:22The implication is today as I speak to you, Shri Krishna and Arjuna are not in the past.
03:32Just as when Guru Vashisht is speaking, Shri Krishna is not in the future, similarly today
03:41for us, Shri Krishna is not in the past.
03:48It is a continuity, it is an eternity.
03:54You have to appreciate this.
03:55Who is Shri Krishna?
03:57Shri Krishna is the timeless truth, timeless truth, truth that is the very source of time
04:11and if Shri Krishna is the very source of time, how can he be confined to a particular
04:21point in time?
04:25The words past and future do not apply to Shri Krishna at all.
04:32Similarly who is Arjuna?
04:35Arjuna is the fundamental ego tendency.
04:41Arjuna is not a person, Arjuna is not a body, bodies come and go.
04:47In the language of Gita, Shri Krishna is timeless parmatma and Arjuna is the indestructible
05:08jivatma.
05:11Are you getting it?
05:13We should not be looking at these two as normal human figures, they are not.
05:22They are symbols of something far more deeper and eternal.
05:31That has to be understood and if something is eternal then it is there in the past, it
05:37is there right now and it would be there in the future.
05:40So no surprise that you can talk about it.
05:44Are you getting it?
05:48Would it be too surprising for you if I say that the sky will be there tomorrow?
06:00Would you then be able to say, so how are you able to predict the future?
06:08The sky will be able to be there tomorrow because the sky is not really a function of
06:15time.
06:20And it's just an example.
06:21I fully understand that this sky that we perceive with our eyes is destructible.
06:29The truth is even more indestructible.
06:39Something that cannot vanish even if the sky does.
06:48So unpredictable events cannot be talked about.
06:54But the truth is very much predictable.
06:58Therefore, you can easily talk about it.
07:01Not that the truth can be contained in your talk, but when I say that you can talk about
07:06the truth, it means you can be sure of the truth.
07:12The truth is not really an uncertainty.
07:15Krishna is not an uncertainty, Arjuna too is not an uncertainty.
07:22As long as the world is there, the Arjuna spirit is there.
07:28It's a fundamental ego tendency.
07:32And even if the world is not there, Krishna is still there.
07:36These are Krishna and Arjuna.
07:39Krishna is there whether or not the world, the entire universe exists.
07:44And who is Arjuna?
07:47The fundamental spirit of this world, the fundamental sense of I, the fundamental ignorance
07:58that is at the center of the world and seeks liberation and knowledge.
08:09In other words, seeks a Krishna.
08:12Alright?
08:14So yes.
