00:00When I did that, I didn't feel comfortable with them. I'm just a human. I'm the same as you guys.
00:06Why are we having this barricade between us? What I can't say to you guys, what you can't say to me,
00:13and what kind of content you need to put out. I didn't like that at all.
00:23Hello everybody, I'm Aisha and today I'm with a friend, a special friend all the way from Taiwan,
00:28from the US. Where are you from? Introduce yourself, say hello.
00:33Hi, what's up Malaysia? Shock fans, I'm Kyra and I'm from Taiwan. But I was raised in the States,
00:41so what am I? I don't know. This is my first time in Malaysia and I had my first fan meeting
00:49yesterday, which was lovely. A lot of people showed up and I really hope to come back again
00:54and hold my own show. How was meeting your Malaysian fans? It's actually quite wild because
01:02usually my content or my way of performing can be explicit. I was very careful with what I'm
01:09saying on stage, what I can do. But the fans, they showed me I don't have to do that.
01:15They were very straightforward. They were like, hey Kyra, can I touch your abs?
01:20What? So I had a photo shoot, not a photo shoot, a fan meeting. I could take photos with each fan.
01:30Oh, that's fun. Yeah, so after hosting the fan meeting for an hour, I had an hour of
01:38fan meeting shoot. And each one of them had their own request, so it was pretty fun.
01:43So you were with each and every one? I took a photo with every one of them. With Jobro,
01:50Jobro was there with me. We hosted the fan meeting together and we're just taking photos.
01:55Cute, lovely. Okay, so we want to get to know you a little better before we
01:59kind of start the interview. So what's a fun fact about you that your fans might not know?
02:06Okay, so this fun fact, I wouldn't say it's fun. It's quite disgusting for me. So I never,
02:12ever show my feet to anybody. Why? Weird. I don't know. I don't like to show my feet. It's a phobia
02:23of mine. So I get really insecure if you're in a room with me and I don't have my socks on.
02:28Interesting. It's weird. I have nice toes. I have nice feet. There's no doubt about it. I have
02:34pedicures, okay, but I never show my feet to anybody. I would never wear flip flops outside
02:39my house. Never. That is pretty interesting. Yeah, you will never see my feet. Never. Okay,
02:45stop. Who am I talking to? But can you look at other people's feet? Okay, there's another fact.
02:51Okay. I love wide looking people's feet. Three emojis to describe your vibe. Three emojis. So
02:57this is one that I use the most is the crying face. The crying smiling face. Okay. Two tears
03:04and just one tilted one, right? Okay. And the second one is pink hearts. So there's two pink
03:10hearts, one big one and one small one. Okay. Yeah, I really like that one. And another one would
03:16probably be, oh, oh, that's, oh, that's a hard one. What's that? What's there? Ah, glasses,
03:24sunglasses. Sunglasses. Because I wear sunglasses a lot. You can see that. Yeah, man. Don't show my
03:30eyes for free. Is that another thing that you don't show? Or? Yes, I actually don't like to
03:36show my eyes. Oh, cuz I don't sleep that much. So I look very tired. So I don't want to see people,
03:43you know, I don't want people to look at me where I like I'm really like zoned out. Okay,
03:48dead inside. I'm just I understand. Okay. And plus, while I'm doing this interview,
03:52I have my eyes closed this whole time. You don't know. It's crazy. That's like this.
03:56Actually, I didn't close my eyes. I know my eyes this whole time.
04:02Okay, so okay, let's talk about LSD. So this is actually my second album is titled arrows,
04:09arrows, the Greek God of love. Okay. And so this whole album is basically talking about
04:15love and sex and healthy sex. Okay, educational kind of sex. Okay. That's all I talk about.
04:23The song is very vibey. Like, when you get into the song, there's a flow of it. And this is an
04:31emotion of taking you in taking you into that zone of worlds. So that's actually going to be the
04:38intro of my album. So throughout the album, it's going to be an emotion of relationship with the
04:46other person with your partner, basically. So arrows is going to be my second album, which is
04:50going to be released in December. Yeah. Wow. Okay, interesting. So what was the creative process?
04:58So of your album, I like to imagine things, you know, I'm not a doer. I'm an imaginer.
05:05Nothing from this album is from your personal experience.
05:08Never. Never. I don't know if I want to believe that.
05:14So definitely from my personal experiences.
05:19I write all my songs, and I like to arrange all my songs. So every instrument you hear,
05:24every beat, every kick, every sound is actually from me, how I like it. And
05:32it's from moments of life, you know. I think if you hear my first song to my latest song,
05:37you can hear a change through, you know, my personal experiences. So yeah,
05:41my songs come from my personal experience. If you can explain your sound to someone who has
05:47never heard any of your songs, right? How do you explain it to them?
05:52I think special. Okay. You know, I try not to follow the trend. I try to just release what I
06:00want to release. But, you know, I think collaborating is also the fun part. You get to
06:06mix your magic with others. But yeah, I think being special is quite different from what we're
06:11hearing now, which might be a problem for me because it might not be as mainstream.
06:16So that's why I do a lot of different content to try to get people to know it's a song, right? So
06:22at first I have to have your eyes, then I have your ears, and I have your heart. So yeah, that's
06:26my way of promoting myself. So you're pretty busy. You were from Singapore, and then you flew into
06:33KL. Yeah. Had a fan meet. Yeah. And then you're leaving. I'm leaving tomorrow. Back to Taiwan.
06:38Back to Taiwan. Preparing to go to America for the rest of the tour. Yeah. So how are you resting?
06:44I'm not. Oh. That's why I'm wearing sunglasses. It's not sleeping. Do you have any hobbies? How
06:50do you unwind? Nothing related to music. Nothing related to music. Yeah. Okay. So I have two cats.
06:57Oh, cute. Yeah. They're my family, and I'm actually mostly at home. So if I'm not making
07:05music, I'm watching anime at home with my cats or working out, going to the gym. I thought you were
07:10an E. I am an E, but I'm only E when I'm working. Oh. So I put all my energy, you know, when I'm
07:16working. When I'm by myself, I actually don't really go out with friends that much because
07:21friends will call me and be like, you want to go eat? I'm tired, bro. Like, I exert all my energy already
07:26at work. I don't want to talk anymore. So cats, it's easy. They don't talk to you. Okay. Yeah.
07:32They don't even notice you. Okay. They're just sleeping there. You're their slave, basically.
07:38But yeah, they don't talk, and I don't have to walk them. We're just chilling. So. So it's just your
07:43cats, and then work, and then your fans. And anime. I love watching. And anime. So when you're meeting
07:49your fans, what's a memorable experience meeting your fan? And how does, you know, your fans
07:55sometimes, do they, like, influence you and your music? Definitely. Have they? Yeah. I think I see
08:03myself not as a artist or musician. I see myself as an entertainer. So I want to be as positive as
08:11I can because as I think for my job is to make other people feel better. Well, you know, starting
08:18from the first, when they wake up, they see my Instagram. They could take a get a laugh of it.
08:25They could get some good inspirations. All I want to give is good vibes to people. So I think of my
08:31fans of when I'm down, or when I'm really tired. I'm like, what am I doing this for? For me,
08:37definitely. But what else? Can I, am I making other people's life better? And it's my content, you know,
08:43making them laugh. It's my music, making them feel good about themselves. So I want to be as positive
08:49as I can to them. But also make it relatable. Because I think that's so important nowadays.
08:56Because where I think we're past that age, we're like, you know, there's a superstar, and you dream
09:01about a superstar. Now for me, it's like, how can I be a friend? How can I be that friend? That can
09:06always be there, you know? But yeah, meeting fans. There are some memorable moments. Some I don't
09:14think I should say. But I think most memorable ones would be like, when we're doing a photo
09:22together. Let's talk about LSD. Okay. Okay. So if you could throw a listening party for LSD?
09:30Yeah. Anywhere in the world? Yeah. How would you do it? I think smell. When it comes to smell. Like
09:36if I were to ever hold an album listening party, one of my LSD producers told me about this. And I
09:43thought it was a good idea. Like, when you enter a room, you could already smell me. The cologne
09:48that I use. And you're in there, smells good. So when it smells good, the music is good. You're in
09:54that vibe already, right? And the lighting, you know, it's also very important. So I think if I
09:59were to hold a listening party, smell would be very important. Okay, so if you could do a remix
10:03with any artist for LSD, who would it be? Why? Gosh, that's a good one. I should do another song
10:09I want to talk about. It'd be Don't Stop. One of my favorite songs. If I could do Don't Stop
10:15with another artist, Jay Park. Oh, Zesty. Man, he would kill that song. Okay. My god, he would
10:22make that song so wild, man. It's crazy. Jay Park. Jay Park. But if we were going like, maybe
10:29more cleaner version, that could be most broadcast on radio, probably Taeyang for Big Bang.
10:36I love Taeyang. Coming my way. Man, I miss him twice. He's going to Taiwan. He had one in Hong
10:41Kong. I had my concert the day he had a concert in Hong Kong. I was like, I was performing. I was
10:46like, I want to see Taeyang. Why y'all here seeing me? Okay, so what role do you think your fans play
10:57in shaping your music and artistic direction throughout your career? How have they inspired
11:04you? Yeah, that's a very good question. Thank you. Such a good interviewer. Oh my goodness,
11:09keep that in the video. Yeah. Take that out, please, producer. So I think at first,
11:16when I was signed to a company, every company wants the artist to be
11:23rare to find or like someone that's, you know, very private about their life. You know, they
11:28want that superstar kind of thing. They wanted the image of, oh, you can't touch me. I think a
11:35lot of stars still do that now. But when I did that, I was like, I didn't feel comfortable with
11:40them. Like, I'm just a human. Like, I'm same as you guys. Like, why are we having this barricade
11:47between us? You know, what I can't say to you guys, what you can't say to me, you know, and
11:51what kind of content you need to put out. I didn't like that at all. But after a while, I started to
11:57really open my own company, my own label. And then I was like, if I'm my own boss, that means I
12:03could do anything I want. And what would I want to do first? And first is, what do the fans want?
12:10So it would, for someone to get to know you, that might take a couple years. If I want them,
12:15if I'm giving them the presentation of me, right? They have to be interested first,
12:19for them to get to know you. But for me to get to know somebody, it would take me two hours,
12:23because I want to get to know you. So I started from that perspective of what do the fans need,
12:28what do the fans want, and what the fans haven't seen before. So starting from that factor, I'm
12:33like, okay, so what is an artist that can sing, that can make music, and that's, you know,
12:40in a fashion, and that can be funny as well, but also can be sexy at the same time. So I was
12:46looking through the list of entertainers in Taiwan. And I was like, I don't think there's
12:52an image like that in Taiwan yet. So I started to dig in more of what I can do as an artist,
12:59like how far I can take this. So it affected my music, the way I put on my content. And yeah,
13:05I think my number one priority is what the fans want, and what the fans need, and what can I do,
13:12what else? Okay, so how do you think your, you know, sound evolved from the time you started
13:19making music until now? When it comes to music, I never learned music when I was little. So I
13:24learned music through YouTube. And wow, yeah, I learned arrangement, all that stuff from YouTube.
13:30I'm not good like that. I need a teacher. Yeah, I don't have the money to hire.
13:37YouTube is free. And there's so many teachers you learn from so many genres and stuff. But
13:43I think, you know, I'm the type of artist, you know, some artists when they had the first album,
13:48that's the best album ever. Okay, because it's from their past, maybe 15 years, 20 years of their
13:54life. And they, they released that first album, right. So for me, it's quite different, because I
13:59learned music very late. So my sound is actually progressing more and more. And as my sound
14:05progressed more and more and more producers and more artists want to work with me because it's
14:09maturing, right. So I would say it became more unique and also delicate. And sounds fancier,
14:20I guess, because it might be more rough in the beginning. But now I'm thinking, okay,
14:25what kind of equipment I invest in a better mic, a better compressor, better,
14:32more expensive mixing engineer, I don't know, like, who else can I work with? Who,
14:38who else in the industry want to work with me? You know, so yeah, definitely evolve and the
14:42artists that I work with, too. Okay, so what do you have for lunch? What do I have for lunch?
14:48I actually didn't eat anything for lunch. Oh, no. Are you hungry now? No, no, I like to fast.
14:53I usually fast when I wake up all the way after I work out. So after I work out, I would eat.
14:59So there's this thing called intermittent fasting. Okay, like 16, 16 hour, eight hour eating.
15:04It's up to you, right? Actually, I actually eat what I want to eat. So I don't have like,
15:10you know, three, three, three meal a day kind of, you know, a lot of people. Because I think my dad,
15:17my dad is a old Chinese doctor. Like he's into chiropractor. He's a chiropractor. Okay, so
15:23he told me a story. He's like, when do you ever see lions eat three meals a day? Like lions only
15:29eat when they're hungry, right? So I took that philosophy with it with me. I only eat when I'm
15:35hungry. I only eat when I'm really hungry, because I want to feel my body telling me,
15:40okay, you're hungry now. Are you hungry? Because sometimes when you're doing three days a meal,
15:44you might have excess calories from the day before. Yeah, because if each person, let's say
15:50take 2000 calories or 200 500 calories a day, that's a normal intake for every person. But
15:57if the previous day you had like 4000 calories, that means you took 1500 calories more, right?
16:02So you need to deduct that from your present day, and don't eat anything. And your body will
16:08actually tell you that you're not hungry. But because your mind is saying, oh, it's time to eat
16:12is lunchtime. So your your body, your mind is telling your body, it's time to eat now,
16:17but your body is telling you No, I'm not hungry. You ate too much yesterday. So now I'm more of
16:22I feel within my body, if I'm hungry or not, if I'm thirsty or not. So everything comes from
16:27within. Okay, interesting. What else do we need? Do we need to know about you? My gosh,
16:31what do you want to know about me? I'm very interesting. Tell us one more fact. One more
16:38fact. Yeah. Oh, let me think. Fun. Oh, I don't drink alcohol. Okay. I don't smoke. I know like
16:52I look like a party guy or like I look like I have a lot of you do what?
16:58I look like I'm out there Friday, Saturday, Sunday all night.
17:04Nah, I actually I like to read a lot. Wow. I have intellectual. You already know, you know,
17:12I like to read a lot of self help books. Yeah. Interesting. Yeah. Because when I was little,
17:17I didn't grow up with a very healthy family. I didn't have my parents beside me. Okay. So
17:22I never really had a man or a woman taught me how to be a good man. I think having a having
17:30somebody you could look up to when you're growing up is can be very important the way you think the
17:34way you do things the way you work. Right. But if I don't, I had to get that from the books. Okay.
17:40And I, I love to read self help books and also manifesting what you really want. I feel like
17:47this world like it's unlimited. Everything is possible. Only everything comes from you like
17:55only you can decide what you can do what you cannot do. So if you really want to do it,
18:01you can do it. And yeah, you just had to make that decision. So I, I'm an avid, you know,
18:08self help book reader. Yeah, reader, basically. I like that. Yeah, very inspiring. What advice
18:13would you give to aspiring artists aspiring artists? Yeah. Never think of your flaws.
18:22Because your flaws might be that unique niche that you need. Okay, so sometimes,
18:29well, I think most of the time your company, your friends will tell you Oh, don't do that.
18:33Oh, they think you're weird. But that weirdness might be something that is what the world is
18:39missing. Because everybody is trying to eliminate their weirdness to fit in to the society to work.
18:46And when you're little, you know, your dad might tell you don't dance on the table. Okay, but now
18:51we want to see singers dance on the table, correct? Because it's very entertaining, right? Yeah. So
18:57why? Why like, you know, little kids are, you know, at a young age, you know, we dare to dream
19:03more, we dare to try more things, because it's fun, it's creative. But as we grew up,
19:09you know, schools, the government society, tell you to take that all that off to become a normal
19:14citizen, what you need to do is not to be normal. Okay, you need to be yourself, you need to be that
19:20weirdness that you have not telling you to like, you know, break laws to do like, you know,
19:25things that bad, but be weird, but followed. Be weird, but don't harm others. Okay. And really
19:33dig in deep. But what do you want? And what is something that is missing in this world that you
19:38can give you can offer and that can make other people's life better? Yeah. And that don't focus
19:44so much on the numbers, because you only want more. There's is never ending is never going to
19:52end. So know that what do you want? Let's make a list of goals out. Okay, five years from now,
19:57and then push that push back from there. Okay, three years, what do you want when you're in this
20:01one year? What do you want? Ultimately, you reach that five year goal, right? You have another five
20:04years ago. So have goals, but also, you know, dream big, and do things that never people have
20:10done before and be open minded. Okay, yeah, your album coming out in December. Yeah, I'm hoping
20:16it's December. Okay, he hope it comes out in December. So one thing that you are excited for
20:24your fans to hear one song, give us a little one song. So there's this one song, I'm still deciding
20:32the name, but it's called flaunt. Okay, so flaunt is the word that's saying like, yo, I'm gonna show
20:37off. I want to be who I am. You know, that's the that's the whole theme of the song. Because
20:43in Asia, I would say we're more conservative compared to like people in the West, you know,
20:48they embrace themselves, right? Yeah, and I'm all about embracing yourself, embracing your flaws,
20:55your positives, whatever you want, embrace it. And don't be shy to show it off. Like,
21:01if you bought something you really like, let's say you bought an LV bag. Okay, we want to some people
21:06are humble about it. Oh, no, it wasn't that expensive. They have a nice watch. No, it's not
21:11it's all right. No, man. It's a nice watch, bro. Show it off. It's fine. You worked hard. You bought
21:18it. And yeah, it's okay to flaunt sometimes. Okay. Yeah. Last last question. Not really a question.
21:27But what message do you want to send to your Malaysian fans who is waiting for your live
21:33performance? Oh my gosh. Okay, so I will definitely come back. There's there's a reason why I'm here
21:40doing this interview is to talk to you, telling you that I'm going to come back from my show.
21:45And when that comes when that show day comes, I want to see you there. And it's gonna be very,
21:49very fun. Trust me. Trust me. I do my best on all my shows. All right. Yeah. When is it?
21:56Well, next year, when I get my visa.
22:01Thank you so much for being here today. Thank you so much. It was fun talking to you. Really?
22:06Yeah. Thank you so much. Thank you, Shulk. Thank you. See you guys next time. I'm Kyle. Bye-bye.
