जम्मू: विलय दिवस के अवसर पर शहीद ब्रिगेडियर राजेंद्र सिंह के पौत्र ब्रिगेडियर दीपचंद ठाकुर कहते हैं, यह एक अनूठी शहादत है, जिसमें एक सेनाध्यक्ष जैक फोर्सेज का नेतृत्व करते हुए सौ जवानों के साथ युद्ध के मैदान में उतरता है, पांच दिनों तक लड़ाई लड़ता है, दुश्मन की सभी योजनाओं को विफल करता है और अंत में अपने प्राणों की आहुति देता है। सैन्य इतिहास में ऐसी बहादुरी दुर्लभ है। जब पाकिस्तानी हमलावर एक छोटी टुकड़ी के साथ पहुंचे, तो उनका लक्ष्य पांच घंटे के भीतर पाकिस्तान के लिए हस्ताक्षर हासिल करना था, उनकी कोशिश पूरी तरह से विफल हो गई। जम्मू-कश्मीर ने तरक्की की है, लेकिन इन ऐतिहासिक लड़ाइयों को नहीं भूलना चाहिए। हमें ऐसे साहस के कार्यों से प्रेरणा लेनी चाहिए।
