समस्तीपुर के डीआरएम विनय श्रीवास्तव ने कहा, "प्रधानमंत्री के नेतृत्व में केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने इस प्रस्ताव को पारित कर दिया है और जैसा कि रेल मंत्री ने बताया, नरकटियागंज से दरभंगा तक 256 किलोमीटर लंबे ट्रैक के दोहरीकरण को ₹4,553 करोड़ की लागत से मंजूरी दी गई है। इस परियोजना के पांच साल में पूरा होने की उम्मीद है। यह ट्रैक सेमी-हाई-स्पीड ट्रेनों को सपोर्ट करेगा, जो 160 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे की गति के लिए उपयुक्त है। यह रक्सौल-बीरगंज में हमारे इनलैंड कंटेनर डिपो से कोलकाता, हल्दिया पोर्ट और विशाखापत्तनम जैसे प्रमुख बिंदुओं तक सीधी कनेक्टिविटी स्थापित करेगा। इसके अतिरिक्त, यह नेपाल के सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों को प्राप्त आर्थिक लाभ पहुंचाएगा और पूर्वोत्तर की ओर जाने वाले मार्गों के लिए एक वैकल्पिक गलियारा प्रदान करेगा। इस परियोजना से 8.7 मिलियन व्यक्ति-दिन का रोजगार पैदा होगा, जिससे इस क्षेत्र के लोगों को महत्वपूर्ण आर्थिक लाभ मिलेगा।"
