00:00Good morning! Here is the PTV news for today.
00:11The severe tropical storm Christine is continuing to move away from the Philippine area of responsibility.
00:17As of 10 am, it is 745 kilometers away from Bacnotan, La Union.
00:25According to the forecast, it will reach the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday to Wednesday.
00:30The storm will move around in a counter-clockwise direction
00:36to the western boundary of the Philippine area of responsibility.
00:41But according to the forecast, the looping movement of the storm Christine
00:46is dependent on the movement of another storm that is outside the bar and other weather systems.
00:52From today to tomorrow, the storm Christine will continue its momentum and possibly grow stronger.
00:59But when it reaches Monday to Wednesday, it is possible that it will fall into the tropical storm category
01:05due to the entry of the northeasterly wind flow.
01:08It is also possible that the storm León with the international name of Kongray will enter the Philippine area of responsibility early tomorrow.
01:18The west-northwestward movement of the tropical storm Kongray will continue until Monday.
01:23Monday to Tuesday, it will move north-westward.
01:26Tuesday onwards, it will move northward or to the northern boundary of the Philippine area of responsibility.
01:36Kongray will continue its tropical storm category throughout the day.
01:41It is possible that it will grow stronger as a severe tropical storm category tomorrow Sunday
01:46and Monday onwards, it will grow stronger as a typhoon category.
01:52We can see here in our track forecast that it is possible that the tropical storm Kongray will remain far from the Philippine landmass.
02:04But if the outer rain bands are still there, it is possible that it will rain in the coming days here in the extreme northern Luzon
02:12as well as the southwesterly wind flow that it is possible that the rain will fall in a large part of the southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
02:20So stay tuned for the upcoming updates about the tropical storm Kongray.
02:25Once it enters our PAR, we will issue 6-hourly tropical cyclone bulletins.
02:32This will be our time today.
02:35In the area of Occidental Mindoro and Palawan, due to the effect of the trough or extension of the severe tropical storm Christina outside our PAR,
02:45we expect to see a chance of flooding and scattered thunderstorms.
02:49So it is still possible that the rain and landslides, especially if the rain continues, will be experienced.
02:56For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, we can expect that the rainfall will be reduced.
03:05As compared to the heavy rainfall that we experienced in the past few days,
03:09we are still prepared for the chances of sudden and rapid rainfall caused by localized thunderstorms.
03:17In a large part of Luzon, since we witnessed heavy rainfall in the past few days,
03:22even if we experience heavy rainfall, it is still possible for flash floods or landslides to occur
03:28because the land in our locality is possibly saturated.
03:35The Department of Trade and Industry is ready to assist the local businesses affected by the Christina storm.
03:44The government is coordinating with various agencies and the private sector
03:49to provide assistance to the affected businesses.
03:54Those affected by the Christina storm are requested to immediately go to the nearest business center or DTI regional offices.
04:02DTI Acting Secretary Christina Roque also gave their support to the recovery efforts of businesses,
04:10especially micro, small and medium enterprises or MSMEs.
04:16That is all the news for now.
