00:00Transport consultant Wan Agilwan Hassan has criticized the government's focus on road
00:06projects in Budget 2025, saying it offers only short-term traffic relief.
00:12He cited the expansion of the North-South Expressway and the Cameron Highlands Bypass
00:16as lacking long-term solutions, warning that expanding roads leads to more traffic due
00:21to induced demand.
00:23Instead, he urged prioritizing the development of Malaysia's rail and bus systems, following
00:28models like Copenhagen.
00:30While he acknowledged improvements in public transport, such as new train coaches for Kereta
00:34Pitana Melayu Berhad and electric buses, he also voiced concerns about reliance on China
00:39for supplies.
00:42Wan Agil also suggested diversifying suppliers and developing local rail capabilities to
00:47secure Malaysia's future in transportation.
00:51Another transport consultant, Rosli Khan, praised the shift toward people-centric projects
00:56but urged for transparency on how petrol subsidy savings will support public transportation.
01:01He also called for reforms such as shorter toll concessions and merging the Railway Assets
01:06Corporation with KTMB.
