I downloaded the win98se OEM iso from winworld since that is bootable, and mounted iso. Install went smoothly. Only 16 colors though. Had to install 'softGPU' off github. AD 4.0 non deluxe. Downsize though photos; AD crapped itself an illegal operation when trying to open a modern sized jpg! Guess I should have had Norton CrashGuard installed.
I got Windows 98 SE installed onto a Virtual Machine using Oracle VM Virtualbox 7 platform. OEM version of the iso is the only 1 that is bootable, so easy to install!
I quickly discovered how to copy files i wanted from my PC to the virtual machine, probably simpler ways but i used a piece of freeware called 'anyburn' to create a CDROM image (.iso) of files I wanted in there and then just mounted it to the virtual CDROM drive.
Only real hurdle to getting the Screensaver to run was that Windows Display Settings was stuck at 16 colors! Remember those days! I needed to install a driver package onto Windows 98 called 'softGPU' which basically automagically makes Windows 98 happy with being installed a modern virtual machine. Walla, millions of colors. Sound is choppy, still needs work it is still default.
AD 4.0 non deluxe. Downsize though photos; AD crapped itself an illegal operation when trying to open a modern sized jpg! Guess I should have had Norton CrashGuard installed.
