00:00Am I alone in this Scott?
00:04Are you fired up for the return of the NBA?
00:06And I don't say this like, you know, I don't, I don't say this, like I'm not taking a shot
00:11at the NBA here in a central, I guess I am in a way, but nobody cares.
00:16Like this is like the least anticipated start to an NBA season ever.
00:20Right.
00:21It's not like it crept up on us either.
00:22I've been playing preseason forever.
00:24So it's like, oh yeah, okay, fine.
00:26And all you need to know is like, before the season even starts, they announce, yeah, Joel
00:30MP and Paul George won't be ready to start the season.
00:34What a shock, shocking development that is.
00:37Now listen, I'll bet the NBA, I'll get into it as the season goes on.
00:42But I think I say whole Scott, the NBA does have a problem.
00:46You know, listen, I talked to sports fans.
00:47I got my finger on the pulse of this thing for years.
00:49And I used to fly around man, to like the NBA games, like travel, I'm going here to
00:54see this and this and that.
00:56I paid like nearly a thousand bucks to go to the all-star game before.
01:00Like I used to love, love, love the NBA.
01:03So I'm not one of these people that, you know, oh, the NBA load management and this, I haven't
01:08watched in years.
01:09No, I watch all the time, but it's slipping, Scott.
01:12Like the product isn't as good.
01:14Nobody, it's easy to, I don't want to sound like an old man, oh, nobody plays defense,
01:18but it's not about like so much the defense.
01:21It's about trying.
01:23It's about the competition level.
01:25Everybody drops big stats and yeah, because nobody plays defense.
01:29Defense in the NBA now is putting your arm up and they think that's, oh, I play defense
01:34coach.
01:35I put my arm up like nobody grinds, right?
01:37So it's sort of entertainment.
01:39And I think Scott, the media, I'm sure you would agree with this too.
01:42The media is to blame for this.
01:44The mainstream media who basically only talk about LeBron James and Brawny James and OKD
01:51is unhappy.
01:52And Kyrie Irving is unhappy.
01:54It's rinse and repeat.
01:55Oh, Draymond Green got ejected from a game.
01:59They only talk, the Knicks, they only talk about like three or four teams over and over
02:05and over again.
02:06And it's finally just tune people out where they don't care anymore.
02:10So I think you'll see this reflective tonight.
02:12I'm curious to see what the NBA ratings will be, but they'll be anticlimactic, right?
02:16It'll just sort of be there and you know, while the NBA doesn't start until Christmas.
02:22And differently, Scott, like you just opened up with the hockey.
02:26There was a buzz about hockey, right?
02:29There was that.
02:30Oh, yeah.
02:31And the NHL is back.
02:32Let's go.
02:33And teams come out flying right away, two games into the season.
02:36People are panicking in cities and hockey cities.
02:39Oh my God, the team is 2-0.
02:41There's an intensity to it.
02:43The NBA is just sort of entertainment.
02:46Go see the superstar player when he decides to play.
02:49And it's built around a couple of TV games and a couple of TV teams.
02:53And the rest of the league can suck it and go to hell.
02:57And the players won't bother playing in your city for the most part.
03:01It's hard.
03:02I mean, how do you get into this if you're a Philadelphia 76er fan when they tell you
03:05before the season starts?
03:06Yeah, Paul George and Joel Embiid will never play back-to-back games this year.
03:12So that's like going to see like buying tickets to a Metallica tour and you get a Metallica
03:18cover band.
03:19Right?
03:20Sorry, James and Kirk can't do back-to-back shows.
03:22Come to see them when they play in Vegas in three nights because they care about that
03:26city.
03:27You know, that's where we're at right now with the NBA, Scott.
