00:00Re-purposing your Instagram content for other platforms
00:12Hey there everybody!
00:13Using Instagram as a platform to publish your content and grow your online presence will
00:18help you reach and engage an audience that you'll hardly find somewhere else.
00:23But you can take your reach further by re-purposing your Instagram content on other channels.
00:29This strategy is called cross-promoting.
00:32And it allows you to leverage your existing Instagram content to engage users on other
00:36social media platforms and to create backlinks to your Instagram account on those platforms.
00:43In this lesson, we are going to show you the right way to re-purpose Instagram content
00:47on top social media channels.
00:50On Facebook Alright folks, let's start on Facebook.
00:55What we'll do on Facebook, and on the rest of the platforms we'll show, is simply to
00:59take content from one of our Instagram posts, which includes the image, copy, and hashtags,
01:05so we can use it on a post that we'll create there.
01:09With that in mind, go to your Facebook account, and enter the business page where you'll publish
01:14your post.
01:15Next, click on the write a post field.
01:18What you'll do here, is to simply enter the text from your caption on the Instagram post.
01:24Now one thing worth noting, is that character limits don't work the same on other platforms
01:29as they do on Instagram.
01:31And while you can post long form captions for Facebook posts, the idea is to create
01:36teaser type posts to encourage people to click on your Instagram link to check the original
01:41post there.
01:43One trick that works great, is to open this post with headline text.
01:47This is simply a title that you'll use to catch the attention of the user.
01:51In this example, we are going to open with a question related to the product that we
01:55are promoting on the Instagram post.
01:58Next, you are going to add your post caption.
02:02This can be a segment of your Instagram caption, a description of your Instagram post, or a
02:07shorter variation of the same caption.
02:10In this example, we are going to describe the content of the original Instagram post.
02:16After you enter your headline and text, add a call to action, add a shortened link to
02:21the original Instagram post.
02:23As you can see here, Facebook will generate a cool looking preview of your post by pulling
02:29your featured image or video into the post, as well as the name of your account and publication
02:34date.
02:35Lastly, add your hashtags at the end of the post, right below the call to action and URL.
02:42Then click on post to finish.
02:45On Twitter
02:46Twitter is a crazy engaging platform that can funnel lots of visits to your Instagram
02:51posts and profile.
02:54The structure of a Twitter post is going to be similar to what we created on Facebook.
02:59Start by going to your Twitter account.
03:01Then click on the tweet button.
03:04Here you are going to apply the same strategy we applied on Facebook.
03:07You just have to be careful not to go over the character limit, which is 280 characters.
03:13This means that you have to compose a shorter caption this time, so you can leave space
03:18for your URL and hashtags.
03:21Ok, so let's start by composing the headline.
03:24Here you can use the exact same headline that you used on Facebook, as it is going to have
03:29the same effect.
03:31Now you are going to add the post text.
03:34You can use the same text that you used on Facebook, as long as it is short form.
03:39Otherwise, you can simply add a call to action to encourage users to check the original post
03:44on Instagram.
03:45We will do that in this example, so you can see how easy it is.
03:51Here we will simply compose a call to action to invite users to find lots of answers to
03:55the question in our headline over at Instagram.
03:59Then we are going to add the shortened post URL.
04:02Now you have to add your hashtags.
04:04There are two smart ways to use hashtags on Twitter.
04:07First, you can use keywords in your copy as hashtags.
04:12Simply find a keyword that is relevant to the post.
04:15Then add a hash symbol right before it, like this.
04:19The second way is to add the hashtags at the end of your text, like this.
04:24Lastly, click on the gallery icon to upload the image or video that you used in your original
04:29Instagram post.
04:31Now that you have fully created your repurposed post, click on Tweet to publish it.
