00:18Ivan, more than a week before Ondas,
00:20people are looking for life on the left and right in the cemetery in Kalasyao, Pangasinan.
00:31This cemetery is located in Bukanan, Kalasyao, Pangasinan.
00:35Sheila Lakaba, 31 years old, is one of the contractors who paints the nitsos in the cemetery.
00:41She has been working with her relatives for 10 years to paint the nitsos every Ondas.
00:47She does this every year when Ondas is closed.
00:51Their contract for a nitso ranges from P100 to P500 depending on the size.
00:57It is more expensive if the whole cemetery will be painted for P1,500.
01:02The cleaning is included in their contract.
01:05They are expecting that their customers will increase next week.
01:09Their visitors are also expected.
01:12A few days before Ondas, they reach a contract of P5 to P6
01:16where they can earn less than P1,500 per day.
01:22Last year, we will ask them if they will clean this place next year.
01:26So when we are here, we look at their faces.
01:31The income of the cemeteries is also increasing.
01:34There are a lot of nitsos being painted.
01:37One of the contractors is Chris Manlingkun, who has been a cemetery contractor for two decades.
01:41If it's difficult, it's difficult.
01:43It's just a test because this is a job. It's like a job.
01:47The cemeteries are equipped so that customers will not steal.
01:52They don't force it, sir. It's their own. Discard it.
01:55They also have customers.
02:03Ivan, the PNP's advice is that as much as possible,
02:06visitors should come early to the cemeteries to avoid trouble when Ondas arrives.
02:11The PNP also reminds that alcohol and deadly weapons are prohibited.
02:16Ivan?
