00:00The House Arrest Law that will be passed in the next parliament is considered unrelated to the efforts of former Prime Minister Najib Razak's release from prison.
00:12Political analyst Muhammad Taufiq Yaakob from the University of Malaya said,
00:16the cancellation of the new document is the government's effort to reduce the cost of spending on detention and prison operations.
00:23Meanwhile, law expert Muzaffar Shah Mallow from the University of Science Islam Malaysia said,
00:29the government needs to conduct an in-depth study so that there is no miscommunication regarding the government's commitment to reduce crime.
00:37According to him, the government needs to make sure that prisoners allowed to ask for house arrest are not charged with serious crimes involving the interests of the public and the state.
00:46Meanwhile, expert Wan Ahmad Fauzi Wan Hussein from the University of Science Islam International Malaysia said,
00:53house arrest must be held under strict conditions so that it is not seen as a privilege.
