03:59wrapped on Tuesday.

04:02Last week, the Fight Night main event set a high bar,
04:04and of course, we have the fighters to deliver some action
04:06on the main card and especially in the headliner.
04:09Yeah, Pejera and Hernandez is obviously a go-to,
04:13but you also have the co-main event,
04:14Rob Font and Kyler Phillips.
04:16We're going to put on a great show here, Bantamweights,
04:17and there's a couple other Bantamweights
04:19that are put on tonight, too.
04:20Yeah, absolutely. I mean, main card stack.
04:22That main event is going to be bananas.
04:24I mean, Fluffy Hernandez brings it every single time,
04:27and Michel Pedeta,
04:29we don't know what he's going to do in there,
04:30but he's going to do something out of control.
04:32We know that.
04:33Each of these fighters, no stranger to show-stopping,
04:35highlight reel moments.
04:36They are both fight finishers,
04:38and they are both charging hard towards the top 10
04:40of the middleweight division.

04:46between Anthony Hernandez and Michel Pedeta,

05:52He's got phenomenal submissions, knockout power,
05:55and the unpredictability always shines through.

22:24So you've got to be careful with how
22:26you turn your hips on Elkins.

22:31to get to the other side.

22:33He does a really good job with his feet
22:35controlling the position.
22:36But there, Elkins did a nice job of settling in
22:38and getting past that.
22:40Yeah, Pineda's corner asked him to not throw
22:43any more guillotines up.
22:44But at the same time, I think those
22:45are really his last resort.
22:47He's only going for the guillotine
22:49after he's almost taken down.
22:50And it's like a last chain of defense.
22:52But Elkins has read that.
22:55Now he's just a blanket, like he does to everybody else.
22:58And I think for Elkins, just start chipping away.
23:00Little shots doesn't have to be very much.
23:02Anytime you get to a position where
23:04you're going to have a free hand,
23:05just start chipping away on those eyebrows of Pineda.
23:10OK, this is action from the first round.
23:12And that is the elbow that opened up
23:14the really big gash above the left eye.
23:18And now from the first round in the ground,
23:21action from Elkins.
23:24Yeah, it's got to be so hard for Pineda to see anything.
23:28You can take him down when you want to.

23:33Slipped his head very well, that combination of Elkins.
23:37Final two minutes of round two, Elkins
23:39tried to use Pineda's momentum against him for a takedown,
23:43but didn't have the balance to do it instead.
23:47Wow, another heavy exchange by both.

23:53Elkins two of three on takedowns.
23:55You can see that's where he wants to fight.

24:00And Pineda jumped guillotine again.
24:02Man, look how he swivels his feet, or his body,

24:17And this is stopping Elkins from bettering his position.
24:20That's what's so important about what Pineda's doing here.
24:22Now he's not winning the fight on his back,
24:24but at least he's threatening, trying to create openings
24:26for himself.
24:27But again, Elkins showing how good he really is,
24:31stopping all that offense.
24:32And now he's in the guard of Pineda,
24:34and Pineda's like, please just stop.
24:37Yeah, just does not stop moving.
24:38Scrambling constantly.
24:39Can you imagine?
24:40It's just trying to hold him down.
24:42It's near impossible.
24:43And he's tough.
24:45If you hit him hard, he finds a way, continues to scramble.
24:48He even slapped Pineda on the back after the first round,
24:50after eating an elbow to the face.
24:52One of the things I learned from Elkins, too,
24:54is he'll put himself in the fire of the submission,
24:57having confidence in his defense,
24:59and you get tired trying to submit him.
25:01And then after you miss the submission finish,
25:03now you're exhausted, and he starts pouring on the damage.
25:07Now this is a perfect example, Dom.
25:08Big elbows from Elkins.
25:10He's like, go ahead, try to guillotine me,
25:12and I'll get out of it, and then you're going to be tired,
25:14and then I'm going to elbow you.
25:16This is really good work here from Elkins,
25:18posturing up, then securing the position yet again,
25:20making sure Pineda doesn't get away.
25:22It's going to be one apiece, I think, going into the third.

28:24the cuts that Pineda's dealing with.
28:26And a guy like Elkins who just,
28:28even though it seems like maybe he's getting tired too,

55:28fights out of southpaw. That's his natural stance. You have plenty of time. Just make sure that you're
55:33mentally and physically ready all right. Headbutts and groin strikes happen a lot
55:38in this convention. Keep them up, keep them up. Hold on. Okay, time in, fight. Back underway opposite
55:47stances again.

56:08No takedown attempts to this point in the fight which surprises me a bit. More
56:14finishes by submission than knockout for Hadley and he was getting ready for an
56:20aggressive grappler. Great he stands. Right he talked about how he was going to
56:24be obviously defending takedowns more than anything but still he's got it in
56:28his pocket to be able to do that. I'm sure you're doing that to some degree in
56:32training and sparring and it does surprise me a bit. That's the tough part
56:40about training for just one style is you know you can have a pull out of the
56:44opponent and then the whole thing changes and you just got to really find
56:48a fine line between training for one person and training for everybody in the
56:51division. Yeah, I agree with that. It's tough. You've got to be doing some rounds.
56:57That left hand landed for Hadley there. Sorry. Oh you're good. That left hand was
57:03heavy. Kind of made Smotherman bend his knees a little.
57:14Yanez wants Smotherman to throw that body work and then connect his punches
57:19and his combinations to the body. He says you know you can do that on a guy
57:22like Hadley. Hadley just brings his hands up. Connect your combinations. You're
57:25seeing one shot at a time from Smotherman and that's giving Hadley a
57:29chance to come back with the combinations that he's throwing on the
57:32numbers.
57:37Surprised we're not seeing more teep kicks out of either of these guys to be
57:40honest because that Southpaw conventional stance a teep kick is like
57:43a jab. It's not really in their arsenal. They're using the boxing primarily in
57:48this class.
58:00Smotherman finishing that combination to the body. Staying busy.
