00:02And today we're going to be looking at copying and pasting
00:05Attributes, effects and settings to multiple clips in Final Cut Pro X
00:10Let's get started
00:12As you can see currently in my timeline
00:14I actually have a segment from a previous tutorial video I made
00:17In which I talk about exporting in 4K from Final Cut Pro X
00:21If you want to check out this tutorial I have a link listed in the description
00:24As well as an annotation on screen right now
00:27But without further ado, let's go ahead and see how this is done
00:30Now as you can see currently in this example here
00:32I have two different clips
00:33I have this clip right here, which is the raw clip
00:35And then here I have the edited clip
00:37Now as you can see there's a huge difference between the two
00:39We have a change in cropping as well as color correction
00:42But other than that these two clips are originally exactly the same
00:45The camera is placed in the exact same spot
00:47Lighting is the same as well
00:49The only difference is that I press the start and stop button between them
00:52Therefore the effects that I apply to this clip
00:54Do not automatically apply to this clip right here
00:58But currently in my timeline I have these clips laid after each other
01:01So as you can see we cut right from this first clip to the second clip
01:04Now if I want this to be a smooth transition
01:06Of course the changes I made to the first clip
01:08Would have to be seen in the second clip as well
01:11Now how do I do this?
01:12Well there's one of two ways
01:13Of course first of all I can manually apply the same settings here
01:17So I can just re-crop this and color correct it
01:19And sort of try and get it as close as possible to this clip
01:22But really that doesn't work if you're playing the clips one by one
01:26So what are we going to do?
01:28Well we're going to go ahead and copy and paste the attributes to the second clip
01:31So how do we do this?
01:32Well first you're going to select the clip from which you want to copy the attributes or settings
01:36So in this case that would be the first clip
01:38And we'll go ahead and press command C
01:40Now this is the shortcut for copy on macOS here
01:43And then we're going to go ahead and select the clip to which we want to copy these attributes
01:48We're going to go and select it
01:49And instead of pressing command V for paste
01:51We're going to press command shift V
01:53And this brings up this little menu right here
01:55Which gives us the option to as you can see paste attributes
01:58Now attributes are basically any changes or alterations you made to your original clip
02:03Now as you can see not only do you have the option to copy the video attributes
02:06You have the option to copy audio attributes as well
02:09Now in this particular clip I'm using external audio
02:11So as you can see the in-camera audio is turned down
02:14Hence the change in volume right there
02:16So from here we can go ahead and manually select what attributes we want to copy
02:20Now in this case the only things that have changed are the color correction
02:24And the transformation and cropping
02:26But we'll go ahead and select everything just to be safe
02:28Which we can do by pressing the top button here
02:30And we'll do the exact same for the audio attributes here
02:33And from here we're going to go ahead and select paste
02:35And as you can see they now look identical
02:38The transition between them is seamless of course other than the cut
02:40The cropping and colors are identical
02:43And this really saves you a lot of time in editing
02:45As you're able to transfer these settings and changes in exposure
02:49Or color correction or cropping instantly like that to the next clip in your timeline
