00:00Change the life and health stories of those affected by infectious, oncological and hematological diseases.
00:11This is the goal of the Fellowship and Community Award Programme,
00:15the two bands of competition promoted by Gilead Sciences,
00:19reached the 13th edition, thanks to which in the next 12 months
00:2358 projects of scientific and socio-assistential nature will come to life.
00:28The projects were awarded in the course of the 2024 edition entitled
00:33Stories that make history, and for the winners of this year,
00:3625 research projects awarded by the Fellowship Programme
00:40and 33 in the socio-assistential area awarded by the Community Award Programme
00:44were awarded almost 1.5 million euros.
00:48The stories that will be born, thanks to the tenacity of researchers,
00:51researchers and associations of Italian patients,
00:54will have a concrete impact on the lives and health of thousands of people.
00:59These initiatives mean a lot to us, I would say two things above all,
01:04collaboration and pride.
01:07We are a company whose mission is to make a healthier world for everyone.
01:12We know that we cannot do this mission alone,
01:16we have our research, even our research we do not do it alone,
01:20working together with the scientific community,
01:24the associations of patients, the institutions, all stakeholders,
01:28we can really achieve that goal.
01:31This is also why we made these Gilead bands,
01:34this is the 13th edition, and this is also why we would continue to do it.
01:41All the impact we have had or that we have been able to do with these projects
01:46is obviously a reason for pride and a reason that makes us push even more
01:51to be part of the ecosystem and the country system in Italy.
01:56Support for Italian research par excellence and concrete support
02:00for medical-scientific innovation,
02:02the Fellowship Programme aims at young researchers.
02:05We are all convinced of the importance of research and innovation,
02:09but we are less aware of how difficult it is for a young person
02:13to start a research path.
02:16It is much easier, unfortunately, I must say, for a senior person
02:19to obtain grants for research, it is much more difficult for a young person.
02:24Young people who very often have much more innovative ideas,
02:27much more groundbreaking ideas than non-senior people.
02:30The good thing about this programme is precisely this,
02:32which allows many young people to start a scientific career
02:36that very often translates into high-level results.
02:40Awarded to the Fellowship Programme 2024,
02:43it is a project based on neuropsychological disorders in women living with HIV.
02:48The focus of the project is to evaluate, with a scale of evaluation of the questionnaires,
02:53the disorders related to depression, anxiety, sleep quality
02:56and correlate them with the quality of life and the adherence to antiretroviral therapy.
03:00We know, in fact, that it is possible that these disorders cause a reduction in adherence
03:05and therefore with the risk of failure of treatments.
03:07Our goal is precisely to focus attention on these aspects,
03:10try to identify them early and possibly allow the person, the woman with HIV,
03:16to manage their problem in order to improve the quality of life.
