Can Too Much Coffee or Soda Increase Your Stroke Risk.
Too much coffee or soda may raise your stroke risk, but tea might help lower it. What you drink greatly affects heart health, and two new studies suggest tea and water are better for stroke prevention than coffee or soda. One study linked carbonated drinks and fruit juices to higher stroke risk, while another found more than four cups of coffee a day raised it too. Tea, on the other hand, lowered stroke risk.

00:09Alright, today we are going to talk about,
00:12Can too much coffee or soda increase your stroke risk?
00:15Too much coffee or soda may raise your stroke risk, but tea might help lower it.
00:19What you drink greatly affects heart health, and two new studies suggest tea and water are
00:23better for stroke prevention than coffee or soda. One study linked carbonated drinks and
00:28fruit juices to higher stroke risk, while another found more than four cups of coffee a day raised
00:32it too. Tea, on the other hand, lowered stroke risk. 1. Stroke is a leading cause of U.S. deaths.
00:38A stroke happens when blood flow to the brain is blocked or a vessel bursts, causing brain cell
00:43death. The CDC reports that stroke affects over 795,000 Americans annually. These study findings
00:50came from the INTERSTROKE project, which involved nearly 27,000 people in 27 countries, including
00:5713,500 first-time stroke patients. 2. Soda, juice, and stroke risk.
01:02One study showed drinking one soda a day, either sugary or diet, increased stroke risk by 22%.
01:09Two or more raised it sharply. Drinking just one fruit juice daily raised stroke risk by 37%,
01:14and two juices tripled it. Women faced the highest risk. While fruit juice has some benefits,
01:19added sugars and preservatives often offset them. On the flip side, drinking seven or more cups of
01:24water daily lowered stroke risk. 3. Tea's benefits.
01:28Drinking three to four cups of black tea, like Earl Grey, lowered stroke risk by 29%.
01:34Green tea reduced it by 27%. Adding milk, however, cancelled these benefits.
01:39The study didn't separate cow's milk from plant-based options like almond or oat milk.
01:444. Water and tea remain the best choices. Although these studies can't prove coffee,
01:48tea, or soda cause stroke risk, they align with previous research showing water is the
01:52healthiest choice. The findings suggest prioritizing water and tea to reduce stroke risk.
01:57Moderate tea and coffee intake—fewer than four cups daily—don't seem to increase risk,
02:01but soda and sugary drinks do. Balance is key—overdoing even water can cause problems.
02:07Moderation in coffee and tea can help lower your stroke risk.
