00:03Kali Uchis. How are you feeling today?
00:06I feel really good.
00:27Which is nominated tonight.
00:30What does it mean for an album like Orquideas that is so special, so beautiful,
00:34not only to be embraced by your fans but to also be recognized for awards too?
00:42It's beautiful. I think the biggest thing for me is in general just being accepted by
00:47my community is such a beautiful thing to be able to share my art in both languages
00:51and feel, you know, it's like a hug. It's like you feel like, wow, you know,
00:57my people fuck with me too and love me too. And that's the most important thing for me.
01:02So the accolades and everything, it's amazing. But, you know, the biggest and most important
01:08thing is just feeling accepted by my community. Yeah.
01:11Is there a song on the album that kind of sort of surprised you that it took on that
01:15sort of like life of its own? Maybe a song that surprised you that you didn't think would?
01:20On Orquideas? I think I didn't expect Igual Que Un Ángel to be the single,
01:28like the big single. I think we definitely would have given it, given it, excuse me,
01:33like a bigger music video if that was the case. We kind of just did like a rushed,
01:37you know, like a performance style video.
01:39Oh, it was beautiful, though.
01:40Oh, thank you. Thank you. But I think if I had known that that was going to be the biggest song,
01:44I would have just gone all out for that video.
01:46Got it. OK. I know Orquideas was a huge moment this year, but is there anything else that
01:53happened in your career, a highlight of 2024 so far?
01:57The highlight of 2024 was the birth of my son. Greatest thing to ever happen to my life.
02:06And yeah, I mean, just navigating the balance between becoming a new mom and still working,
02:11you know, making music, getting ready to drop my next album,
02:16getting ready to drop the Sinos Contigo remix, which comes out tonight.
02:20Yeah. And a couple more features with some exciting artists coming that aren't coming
02:25on my album, but are coming before my album. Really excited about that. So yeah, it's always
02:30nice to prove to people that just because you have a baby doesn't mean that your career is over.
02:34And I'm very far from finished with what I plan to do.
