00:08 I feel very happy, Leila, the truth is that
00:12 the legacy that I have had the privilege of being part of
00:16 has been so beautiful, so full of joy, of trajectory, of music, of history,
00:23 that when they give me this award, I think of them, I don't think of myself, and it gives me a lot of joy.
00:28 You know that this award, the Latin Women in Music Award,
00:33 is a very intentional award, we analyze it a lot,
00:37 we look at what artists have been successful in the last 12 months,
00:42 what they have done, because it is a very current award.
00:46 So, you were the youngest artist to be on the Billboard charts,
00:53 and the youngest to receive this award.
00:56 How do you feel, having achieved so much, what is next?
01:02 I hope it's not a one-hit wonder and I have to be on the charts again.
01:08 No, I really tell you that it feels very nice to be here,
01:12 surrounded by women that I have admired since I was a child, literally,
01:16 seeing women who have careers bigger than my life itself,
01:21 and to hear the award for the career of more than 30 years,
01:28 and I suddenly look at myself in the mirror and say, "I'm 20,
01:31 I still have a lot to live, I still have a lot to do."
01:34 And to see that it is possible, and to see that being a woman is this superpower
01:40 that you can have in the music industry, if they give you the opportunity to do it,
01:44 and I think that these awards are to expose opportunities for more women,
01:49 and to show us that it is possible, and especially in the genre of Mexican music,
01:54 which is the one I am part of, because I found out about this figure
01:58 that 16 years ago a woman had not been number one in the Mexican regional chart,
02:04 and it was me. So, imagine how many other little girls will be able to achieve that someday.
02:10 Your dad greeted you from Tokyo. Did you know he was going to appear, or was it just a surprise?
02:17 Pure surprise, and more because he started with "Konichiwa" and I was saying,
02:21 "Who is this person?" And then I saw my dad and I said, "What a good accent!"
02:26 He was very good. And the truth is, out of joke, it is so beautiful for me
02:32 that my dad has taken time off from his vacation, from what he is doing there,
02:37 to be able to send me this message. I miss him very much.
02:40 And going to the awards with him, without him, rather, makes me feel like I miss something.
02:46 And with that video, I felt a little more accompanied.
02:49 "Cantaste, me vas a extrañar", which is a song by your dad,
02:54 that you told me the other day, you have heard him sing,
02:58 you have heard his recording since you were four years old.
03:02 How did you decide to sing this song and why?
03:06 Honestly, because I was afraid to sing for women like you.
03:10 So I said, "Let's see, what is another iconic song of my dad
03:16 that is not the iconic song of my dad, that you are going to miss me?"
03:20 And the truth is that what I really like about this song is that I almost
03:24 don't have the opportunity to sing in lower registers and go up a lot.
03:29 And that's what this song does. And obviously I had the privilege
03:33 of also working with Arthur and seeing that a mariachi of so many people,
03:38 16, 17 people, were the ones who made that original recording.
03:42 It was translated into two people, in a stage, singing to the music,
03:47 singing to the trajectory, singing to all the women,
03:51 because this song was created for my mom.
03:54 So, I felt this very beautiful energy.
03:57 Well, that's really a musical legacy, isn't it?
04:01 Yes, I'm wrapped in it. In every corner I turn, there is a story
04:05 of my grandparents, of my dad, of my uncle, of my aunt.

04:50 It's called "Gotitas Saladas" and it's a mix between a different mariachi,
04:56 a modern mariachi, a song that I wrote with two friends,
05:01 well, my sister and a friend, when we were doing a competition.
05:06 Because, here we go. We were in my apartment and my brother was there,
05:10 his friend and his girlfriend. Adriel Favela was there,
05:13 Estivaliz was there, Annelis was there, and me.
05:16 And suddenly Adriel and Leonardo come out to my terrace and they tell me,
05:19 "Let's write a song." Then we talked. And I...
05:24 I mean, they didn't invite me. So I turned to the girls and I said,
05:29 "Let's write a song better than them in less time and I'm going to release it."
05:33 And it's going to be more famous than the song you're recording right now.
05:35 So I said, "Okay, fine." And that's when we wrote "Gotitas Saladas."
