00:00We talked about the situation with Justin Fields briefly, Scotty, I'll just get your
00:07opinion.
00:08Love it?
00:09Hate it?
00:10Or where are you at with the situation developing at Pittsburgh?
00:13Jets and Steelers on deck.
00:15Love it.
00:16Love it.
00:17I told you that.
00:18I've been saying this for weeks between you and Ben, both, you're both stubborn Justin
00:22Fields fans.
00:23I don't get it.
00:24We're the only two Justin Fields fans in the history of the NFL right here on SportsCrit.
00:28It's amazing.
00:29I mean, you can't continue to win games throwing for 140 yards, and that's what the Steelers
00:37have done.
00:38But we've been down this road before with Pittsburgh, and I think that's the key.
00:42You know, the common man is saying, oh, you're winning games, so you got to keep Justin Fields
00:45in there.
00:46Yeah, you won games with Kenny Pickett.
00:48Where did that get you, throwing for 150 yards?
00:50You won games with Mitch Trubisky, for goodness sakes, you got to the playoffs, you know,
00:54and Mason Rudolph, that combination got you to the postseason, throwing for 150 yards.
00:59Where did that get you to postseason?
01:00Nowhere.
01:01They've been down this road before.
01:02They've seen this.
01:03Yeah, they're having some success, wins and losses, but it's not going to equate to wins
01:07and losses come postseason.
01:09The bigger picture is Russell Wilson was brought in to win a Super Bowl.
01:13He's got to get every opportunity to do just that.
01:15They're 4-2.
01:16They had a nice move, you know, letting him heal, didn't have to rush him back, but ultimately
01:20they're going to go as far as Russell Wilson will take them.
01:23So I am all in on Russell Wilson being the starting quarterback.
01:27So Russell Wilson couldn't bring the Super Bowl to Denver with an elite defense, right?
01:32And basically threw for multiple games for under 200 yards last year, even though he
01:37had a great quarterback TD to interception ratio.
01:41That's all well and good.
01:42Secondly, he's not going to run like Justin Fields.
01:45Justin Fields, two rushing touchdowns, yet again at 55 yards.
01:49What happens when the offensive line breaks down?
01:51There's an added dimension to the offense, Scotty, that you lose with Russell Wilson
01:56on their center.
01:57Secondly, secondly, is if Justin Fields, yeah, 4-2, three of those wins came on the road.
02:04Okay?
02:05So that matters to me more than anything.
02:08Can you win on the road?
02:09I don't care how you do it.
02:11Can you win in a tough environment?
02:13And I'll throw one more at you.
02:14If the Steelers, let's say, do start Russell Wilson, they lose two games, then what?
02:20You go from 4-2 to 4-4, with a quarterback that would then be 0-2, what's your answer
02:26then?
02:27You know, listen, if you go 0-2, but you lose 33-30, then you know what?
02:34He's going to stay in as quarterback.
02:36If you go 0-2 and lose, you know, 17-13, then I'll take him out of the lineup.
02:42Then you're going to take him back out of the lineup?
02:45So we cost our team two losses, but here we go.
02:49Now we really have your starting quarterback, Justin Fields.
02:52What message does that send?
02:55Well, what message did it send?
02:57They're behind the eight ball from the get-go, Joe.
02:59Don't forget, both of these guys are on one-year contracts.
03:02I mean, you know, you're damned if you do, damned if you don't.
03:06You want really Justin Fields to do well?
03:09So you got to give him a three-year, we'll say, or Danny Nichols' contract that the Giants
03:14gave him?
03:15Really?
03:16I don't want any commitment to Justin Fields.
03:18No, thank you.
03:19I understand why they got him, but I don't want to commit that kind of money to him.
03:24You can't throw, Joe, you're not going to beat Cincinnati, you're not going to beat
03:29Kansas City, heck, you're not even going to beat the Chargers or even the Buffalo Bills
03:34playing like that in the postseason.
03:35You got to be able to drop back and throw the football.
