00:00So joining us right now is Dietrich Wise, Patriots defensive lineman.
00:03He's brought to you by Shaw's and Star Market, perfecting the art of fresh.
00:07Dietrich Wise, how are we doing this week?
00:09You excited about going to London, another international stage?
00:12Yes, that's where I am.
00:14So it's going to be pretty cool.
00:16This week, Gerard Mayo, head coach, said there will be changes personnel wise.
00:22Have you guys already been made aware of what those changes will be?
00:27We have not.
00:28So on a typical week, when do you guys find out sort of, you know, who's starting?
00:33Who's first, you know, first guys in?
00:36Like, when do you find that out for a particular game?
00:39Well, it depends on the group, but most likely it's case by case basis.
00:45You usually don't really know who started until closer to game.
00:50We've heard Gerard Mayo be very critical of some of the defensive breakdowns
00:55you guys have had with your run fits.
00:58How do you get that cleaned up this weekend against Jacksonville?
01:02It's all a mindset.
01:03Playing the run is a mindset.
01:05Knowing when you get to the game, knowing what you want to get.
01:08We've been rehearsing and going over the things that we're going to see in the game.
01:13So when we see them, we won't have any excuse on how to properly react to the block.
01:21What has stood out thus far preparing for Jacksonville?
01:28Well, I don't know if number one is playing the running back, but if he is,
01:33both of these guys, number one and number four, are strong running backs.
01:37Number four is a very hard runner, loves to lower his shoulder,
01:42and also very fast.
01:43We know Trevor Lawrence is who he is.
01:47He's a great thrower, but definitely put the ball in the right spot
01:51for the receiver to catch it.
01:53Can also run the ball as well.
01:56And then the offensive line is pretty big and strong as well.
01:59So we've been seeing some good things.
02:02They have some fast receivers, strong linemen, and a strong running back.
02:07So we have a challenger on our hands once again,
02:09but if we play the game that we know how to play,
02:12that's a tough physical, and we'll definitely come out with a win.
02:16Does part of you want to face Mac Jones a little bit?
02:20Not any animosity, in an animosity type of way,
02:27but if he does play, you know what I'm saying, it'd be cool if I get to play against him.
02:30I feel like he'd be very sackable.
02:32I feel like of all the quarterbacks that you might want to sack,
02:34I feel like he'd be up at the top of the list.
02:37You know, it's funny you say that, because he's actually very fast
02:41and very agile in the pocket.
02:43He definitely played here, he definitely ran around,
02:47definitely broke some yardage, definitely his first couple of years here.
02:51So if he does get to play, we'll definitely have to make sure we contain him.
02:58Yeah, just watch out between the whistles if I were you.
03:00That's all I would do, make sure you're wearing a cup.
03:02He's kicked some guys.
03:03That's all I would say if he's out there on the field.
03:07Drake May, also quite mobile, as we've seen through his first start
03:11and his first couple of appearances here with the New England Patriots.
03:14He was on the injury report yesterday.
03:16Anything happen yesterday at practice with him?
03:20I am unaware of anything that happened.
03:23Okay, so you're unaware of anything knee-related
03:27that could have popped up on the injury report yesterday.
03:28That'd lead me to believe that maybe it happened in the game.
03:30Okay, trying to connect some dots.
03:32That's interesting.
03:33What did you think of Drake May in his first start?
03:36I think he actually played very well, in my opinion, the first time playing.
03:41I think him still learning the game, he has some things to work on,
03:45but overall, I think he showed some good things on tape
03:50and looking to see what he can do this week to build upon that.
03:53You've somehow been able to avoid the captain's curse.
03:56I don't want to throw it out there,
03:58but looking at the six captains that were announced
04:01at the beginning of the season, you were the only one active last week.
04:05It's like Final Destination.
04:06Yeah, maybe we shouldn't talk about it,
04:07but have you felt that pressure?
04:11No, I haven't felt any pressure.
04:13It's kind of unfortunate what happened to the guys around me,
04:16but I just, you know, I don't know.
04:22I just feel like the things that are going on,
04:24that's out of our control, and we all are here together,
04:29pushing for each other, pushing for one another to get better
04:31or to get back into the old way, so whatever that is.
04:36He's Patriots captain Dietrich Wise,
04:38joins us here on what's normally a Patriots Friday on a Thursday
04:42on Jones and Keefe.
04:43Dietrich, we appreciate the time.
04:44Best of luck in London on Sunday.
04:47Thank you, man. I appreciate it.
04:49Have you ever been to London?
04:50No, I have never.
04:52How often have you been to Europe, Keefe?
04:53I haven't been to Europe all that much.
04:54Once. I went to Spain once.
04:56Wow. Same. How about you, Dietrich?
04:57I mean, you've played Germany, you've played London, right?
04:59Where else have you been?
05:03For football, Mexico, Germany, and London. That's it.
05:06What about in your personal travels?
05:08You've been elsewhere?
05:10I've been overseas a few times.
05:11I've been to the Caribbean, and I've been to Dubai once.
05:17How about that?
05:18You know what? I have a family wedding in Dubai
05:21coming up early next year.
05:23How do you like that? How about that?
05:25Be careful of the travel. It's a long travel.
05:27Okay. All right. I will mark that down.
05:30Dietrich, best of luck. We appreciate it.
05:33Thank you very much. Have a good day.
05:34All right. Thank you.
05:35Dietrich Wise, Patriots Thursday.
05:37Two things are, if he ends up having to face Mac Jones,
05:41that means they already knocked Trevor Lawrence out of the game.
05:43No, I'm not saying injury. I just mean, like, he threw two picks.
05:46They're playing horrible. They're like,
05:47all right, we got to shoot some guys.
05:48They made him an honorary Patriots captain before the game,
05:49and then it goes down.
05:50Here comes Mac Jones, and then they can just get,
05:52you know, sack Mac Jones. Then you feel like they're dead.
05:54If Mac Jones plays in the game, they win.
05:58Patriots? Yes.
05:59I feel good about that. Just, you know, watch your knees.
06:04Oh, he'll come after you.
06:05If there's a return going the other way,
06:06just keep your head on a swivel.
06:08He'll take a guy down with you.
06:09Make sure you're covering up below the belt.
06:11That'd be my recommendation.
06:12Something tells me Dietrich Weiss knows that very well.
06:14He knows. But Mac's super mobile.
06:15You know, you may not know that, Keith, but super mobile.
06:17Head behind.
06:18I don't remember that, but I'll take his word for it.
06:21I mean, I never lined up across him.
06:22He saw it every day in practice.
06:23He pays very close attention to practice.
06:25Didn't see anything with Drake May.
06:26That leads me to believe that it must have happened in the game,
06:28according to Dietrich Weiss.
06:29Nice. News breaking here on Jones and Keith.
