With Scotland’s best family walk just on the outskirts of Edinburgh, our reporter Kevin Quinn decided to check out the hour long walk with his family. The 4.5km Harlaw and Threipmuir Reservoirs Circular in the Pentland Hills was named the best family walk in Scotland earlier this week, with an overall score of 9.97 out of 10 in a study carried out by outdoor experts Millets.

00:15ready to check out Scotland's best family walk. Located just past Balerno
00:21the four and a half kilometer circular trail is considered an easy route and
00:26takes an average of one hour and three minutes to complete. The walk is deemed
00:30child-friendly and is used by many for runs, bikes, rides and walks. Starting off
00:38at Harlaw House Visitor Centre car park we headed out past Harlaw Reservoir and
00:42up towards Threepmuir Reservoir crossing the dam with Harlaw Reservoir on
00:49your left. Once over the dam we turned left and followed the broad well-made
00:54path parallel to the water. Passing woodland we soon reached the end of
00:59Threepmuir Reservoir. So we're now about halfway through the walk here up at
01:03Threepmuir Reservoir. So far so good. The journey continues. Full of pleasant fresh
01:10air in our lungs we even had time for a spot of skimming on the reservoir. We
01:18left those woods behind before heading up a hill into another set of woods.
01:23After crossing the still we then followed the clear path to the right
01:27which led us back to the visitor centre. A great hour and five minutes or so walk
01:33with the family. We're tracing our steps to return to the start at the car park at
01:39Harlaw Reservoir. A great day out and a great walk.
