00:00Peace Farm Project of the Agriculture Department launched in Coronadal City.
00:07The project is a fight against poverty and starvation through the strengthening of the agriculture sector.
00:14This is Christian Matuliano for Sento ng Balita.
00:18Carmela Tampongok, a resident of Talkitac, Barangay Assumption, Coronadal City, is very grateful for the benefits received by her community from the Department of Agriculture.
00:34We are thankful because the government noticed our place.
00:40And of course, we know that our city has a lot of poverty.
00:47Agriculture is the first thing that we are thankful for because the government did not neglect us.
00:56Talkitac, a geographically isolated and disadvantaged area in the Elka Community, is the chosen place in Coronadal City where the Peace Farm Project was officially launched by the Department of Agriculture Region 12.
01:14Under the leadership of DA Assistant Secretary James Layug and DA 12 Regional Executive Director Roberto Perales,
01:21the project is a fight against poverty and starvation through the strengthening of the agriculture sector in the aforementioned area that was previously affected by the pandemic.
01:33In the message of NTF-ELKAC Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster Focal Person of DA Assistant Secretary James Layug,
01:41he encouraged the residents to unite and support the government's programs for every Filipino.
01:48Let's declare that our enemy is poverty, our enemy is starvation.
01:53How are we going to do that now?
01:56That's why we here at the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster of NTF-ELKAC,
02:02along with the DA, DTI, TESDA, LGU, our civil society and private partners such as Knights of Columbus, Bishop of Coronadal,
02:18and our other partners, including you, we are all on the front line of this fight.
02:25The fight is not a war. The fight is poverty and starvation. That is what we are going to help.
02:31Among the activities carried out are the tree planting activity, distribution of rice to the residents,
02:38and the signing of Pledge of Commitment of each agency of the government and the DA in the implementation of the aforementioned project.
