00:00Hello everybody and welcome to Red Pan Valley Subway number 2. Now if you're watching and
00:07you want to know what I'm doing, I'd very much appreciate it. In this video I will be
00:11editing the floor. I've already made the tunnel bar, as you may or may not know. Down here
00:17there's obviously a big underworld. I've already made part of the staircase, I've made that
00:22part. I'm still going to make the basement and the alleyways. So I'll be talking about
00:29it very soon. So I'm going to build the top part of the surface first. So as you can see
00:34it's a flat plane, very simple, very easy. So what we're going to do, we're going to
00:38right click and edit. Now you see all the things on the floor? Now because this is a
00:43public area, I'm going to have 3D slabs on the floor. Just because I want slabs on the
00:49floor because it looks better. So before I of course go around and add slabs to the
00:54floor, of course I can go around and add pavements and things like that if I want to do that.
01:00Not pavements, curbs around the edge. I apologise for that. But I might not really want to do
01:07that. So what I want to do, I'm going to do it here. If I don't add it, it's not going
01:12to look right in the end. It's really not. So I need to add the actual curb. So what
01:18I'm doing, I'm going over here. I'm left clicking. I'm using the mouse on the laptop
01:22as you may know that. Come over here. I use the most basic tools in Blender just to let
01:27you know that. So I use these 3 here, these ones down here and 3 keys on the keyboard
01:32more or less. So go here, just click it once and leave it. Go to remove. Now if you zoom
01:38out a little bit, you'll see it's down there somewhere. So it doesn't matter where it is,
01:42just zoom in. Now of course, I tell you if you watch my videos that go into transparency
01:50mode. If you press this one, I press this one. I think my curb is about 2 wide. I can't
01:58remember. It could be 3 wide but I'm not too sure. So I'm going to do it 2 wide anyway
02:03just to start with. I can always widen it after. Go back to the opposite side. Go back
02:09in. Go here. Place the line. Go back down. Find the middle of it or zoom in. Go to move.
02:17Find the middle part of it. Zoom back in. As I said, all my videos are here to try and
02:23teach you. All I'm doing is left clicking and holding and dragging the mouse. So let's
02:28say you're quite young and you want to learn basically how to model. Maybe you want to
02:33make your own game world. That's what I'm trying to do. So of course, before I even
02:37go about making the game world and the scripting language and all that, I've got to work out
02:43which game engine I'm going to use. So just drag it up to 2 lines. So keep it 2 like that
02:49all the way around and basically that's all I'm going to be doing. Now you see when you
02:55do that, the error in the geometry. See there? It shouldn't do that. It should connect straight
03:03across the thing. So I don't want to do that. And you see how the error is there? Now, I
03:09don't want to put that line in there. So what I want to do, I need to look at this. Find
03:14out what's going on with these slabs because they're actually in the wrong place. So if
03:20there's something going wrong with it, go here. Select the whole entire lot. Like that.
03:26Right click and just delete. Don't even try to fix it. Just delete it. As I said, it's
03:32going to be quicker just to refill it. So click that. I don't know where that came from.
03:41That's a new one. Now of course you can hold the up arrow key, let's say on the keyboard
03:47and you can left click that, that, that and that. If you want to, because it's a big space
03:54anyway, just left click, hold and drag it. Press F. Left click, hold and drag it. Press
03:59F. As long as it's a big space, it's great because you left it, hold and drag it. As
04:04long as you've got a mouse on your laptop, it's absolutely great because it makes things
04:07a whole lot easier for you. Now in a moment, I'll be excluding these slabs. Now that part
04:14is just a little tiny bit time consuming because there's a lot of slabs here. But I've got
04:22to be able to do them because I've got to plug it into Unreal Engine and see if Unreal
04:27Engine can actually run my game level. Well, not a game level, a game plot. But I've got
04:33a couple of different plots for each part of the world. Each plot takes up, basically,
04:39render squares. Each part of the world is basically all squashed into four squares.
04:48Four squares wide and maybe about four squares high. Maybe eight squares high, I don't know
04:52yet. I can go up to about ten stories, I think. I can go from the side view, I can
04:58bring it up here somewhere to about number ten. So we've got ten blocks from there to
05:03there, so it's going to be like a skyscraper. Obviously, not this part of the land because
05:07this is a subway. This is going to be high, but really low, if you know what I mean. So
05:14the whole entire building is going to be in the floor and not actually out of the floor.
05:19Because in the game world, I've got all sorts of things in here and in there. I want to
05:26do it that way, so I want to be able to give you some kind of pretty good content so you
05:31can mess around with me, play with me. Now, of course, what I need to do here, I need
05:36to raise the whole entire floor, because you know what I've just realised? It's actually
05:40already on ground level. That's great. So what I need to do, I need to move this, all
05:48of this, and all of this. So what I want to do, all I want to do is go here, go select
05:55everything. Obviously, you need to select everything to come out of that mode. Go into
06:00standard mode, go select everything. Now, flip it to the side, and what you want to
06:07do, you drag it over. You can't see our cursor, so go here. I'll review geometry. Zoom in.
06:16Now, we know the line is exactly on that line. So what we want to do, because I'm going to
06:21raise the slabs, and if I don't, what are you doing? Sometimes, if I, let me go back
06:29in there. And then sometimes, because I'm doing a screen recorder, the screen recorder
06:32itself seems to be clicking on the screen recorder. So put that to that view, and I'll
06:37do a apologise for it. But it's not coming to me, it's down to the screen recorder. So
06:42my slabs are going to be approximately one square height, so I'm going to kind of lift
06:48this up to approximately one square. Because I've got to allow for the slab, because if
06:56I don't allow for it, now, it might not seem much, really, and really, truly, it's not.
07:02But, in all honesty, that little one square in the game world is pretty big. So I think
07:10OK, I'm going to leave everything like that at the moment. So now, what we want to do
07:16is go back into edit mode. Now, the most important part is to take the slab, and you know what
07:27I've just done? It is right what I've just done, but what I didn't do, I didn't allow
07:35for the curb. As I said, it's a genuine mistake, because I almost forgot about the curb. So
07:41I'll move it up, click on that up, I'll go back again, select everything, put the cursor
07:48back into the centre, say, come on little cursor, it's over there. Back here, as I said,
07:56I'm trying to drag it across the board. I accidentally slipped off it, move it up again
08:03to the next level. My character's feet are roughly about two squares tall, so now it's
08:11perfect, so now I can go over here, now I can save it. Now, all I have to do is raise
08:18the floor up one, that's all I have to do. So I can hide this part, if I want to, but
08:26before I do that, I'm going to select the whole thing, flip it to side view, scroll
08:31back in, take a look at it. Now of course, the surface now is there, and I'm going to
08:38raise the block one square, so I need to raise the entire floor about one square. I know
08:49it's kind of a silly way to do it, but it's kind of my way of doing it, because I want
08:53to make sure everything kind of fits together. That's perfect. Not perfect, but almost perfect.
08:59As I say, it's all hand-made, it's all hand-crafted, so now what I can do is go on here. Now all
09:05the slabs should be maybe set already, hopefully, which of course they're not, so I'm thinking
09:11that's kind of great, that's kind of, yeah. So I'm going to raise this up, and I'm going
09:19to raise these up, so I'm thinking here, and I'm going to raise this part. I'm thinking
09:27I could have this a different colour to this, that way it'll make things a little easier
09:31for me. So I'm thinking here, I could do that, I could have a bit of grass around here, around
09:36this part, just to kind of break it up a bit, and then have this part a different colour.
09:43Probably, but yeah, I want to do that. I want to put grass around here, just to kind of
09:49get rid of that kind of mess, and I want to have these as slabs. It's going to be hard
09:59to put that into a slab at the moment, so what I need to do, as I said, I'm doing things
10:05as I'm going, so if you watch what I'm doing, you'll actually notice that sometimes I have
10:11to slightly tweak the panel to make it all fit. As I said, it's only a little small slab,
10:17it's not quite as big as that, but you'll kind of get the idea when I do it. Now, the
10:23whole point here is, now I know I can't do this altogether, I really can't, because if
10:28I select every single slab, it's going to mess around with my geometry, and how come
10:34that one is not the same as that one? What's going on with that? You see this edge here,
10:41you know what we didn't do? Almost forgot it, we need to add this little line in there.
10:47Remember the one that wouldn't go across the way? We didn't add it here, well I would never
10:52add these. As I did, you just have a curve around the world, like a pavement, so of course,
10:59if you want to basically put a slope on it, you can just cut it later, and put a slope
11:04Well, it is 2 isn't it? I think, yeah, it's 2. OK, so leave that like that, go back into
11:14Save. OK, now, all I have to do is pull the slabs down, so grab the curb, the curb has
11:25to go down to the floor, because the floor is not as high as this, so to do it a little
11:30bit quicker, I'm going to try and do this part quicker, because when I do the slabs,
11:34it does take a little bit longer to do the slabs, a couple of minutes, so go here, select
11:39all the faces, hold the CTRL on the keyboard, I can't see the point there, go here, select
11:47all this, select all those, select all those, if you select them all and don't manage, just
11:56because you've got the up arrow key holding it, just untick the ones that you don't want,
12:03so that's just kind of looking a bit of an easier way to do it. Now that I've done that,
12:09go back into Save, I'm not going to extrude it, I'm going to intrude it, I'm going to
12:15push it back down on itself, so what I'm going to do is, I'm going to push this right down
12:23to the floor, now of course, it's not moving, so I'm thinking, how great is that, tick that,
12:30tick on here, good, one, two, keep your nozzles straight, because later on you're going to
12:40have problems there, yeah, not too bad, but of course it's turning the wrong way round,
12:46so I'm thinking here, now I can go back around the edge, that's a problem I'm going to have
12:52to do, and fill this gap, because normally instead of pushing it in, you pull it out,
12:59but I want to push it down, I know it's a little bit more work for me to go around the
13:06edge, all I'm going to do is fill the edge, but I don't really so much mind that, that's
13:15what I need to do, so I'm going to leave that like that, because even Andy's inside here,
13:21if you look at it, you can see it's very transparent, so I'm thinking it should be transparent,
13:27what you're doing, a little bit more work, go on here, select all of this, select all
13:35of the faces, mesh, and flip it, go round to the side, the amount of fractions, select
13:43all of this side, back to here, flip it, flip it again, select all of this side, go
13:53back here, as I said, I'm trying to do it as fast as I can, what I'm doing is turning
13:58the faces back round the right way, the wrong way, it's only got to hold it the opposite
14:08way, you see Andy's face, look, I'm facing upwards, inside there, it doesn't matter about
14:13the inside, because you're not going to see it, but really, you'd face them downwards,
14:19probably look like this, as I said, it depends on the amount of weld actually underneath
14:24there, which I am, so I need to fill the gap, so, this one, of course, I can go right in
14:34the centre of that, and I can kind of select the whole one, make a really kind of skinny
14:42line, something like this, and I can go here, and flip that, now you see how they've all
14:51gone invisible, that's perfect, just make a really kind of thin line, obviously make
14:59sure you click on it, click on it, as I said, it just saves you doing it all one by one,
15:07of course I missed that one, I don't know how I missed that, flip it round, so it's
15:12obviously double faced towards you, this one can go right into the corner, here, flip,
15:21perfect, I'm going to do the top ones the same, just go on the one tile and just barely
15:28open the actual crack, and then just let go of it, and hopefully, if you can open it wide
15:35enough, you'll be able to grab it and flip it, like that, as I said, my way of modelling
15:43is different to most other people's way of modelling, of course, everybody's different,
15:48and my content is different, of course, when I make my game world, I can make a 2D game
15:53if I wanted, but I think the whole point is to try to make a 3D game, so that's what I'm
15:59trying to do, so I think before I even make the game, I won't be able to do all the assets,
16:04so I have to start somewhere, and I know that it's a place of dying, as I said, because
16:09I've pulled it down, I've pulled it up, because I didn't allow for the actual curve, and I
16:16didn't actually allow for the actual thing, but you know what it is there, there's a little
16:21gap underneath there, of one tiny square, well, it won't be there when I raise these
16:27slabs, but I can't raise the slabs yet, because I need to connect the edges, so that's what
16:34I need to do, first, I want to connect the corners, so to connect the corners, you've
16:38got to hold the up arrow key on the keyboard, select that, that and that, and press F to
16:43fill it, over here, turn that off, OK, press that one, that one and that one, press F to
16:49fill it, now of course, what you can do to corner feed up the process a little bit, press
16:54edges and just fill in the edges, again, it's not a long process, it's just something that
17:02I have to do now, because of a corner disorder, to change the shape and pattern of my geometry,
17:14realistically, it's because I've actually forgot about the slabs, I actually forgot
17:18about the root, that's what I forgot about, really, so I think, you know, I don't know
17:23how I forgot about it, because I'm actually making the root, so, if you watch my video,
17:30you actually see the video about the root, now, I don't call it a root video, it's called
17:35a drain video, because I use a drain, and basically, I just turn it into a root, that's
17:41what I do, so, as I said, I'll try to show you that all of my content is more than just
17:47one simple, basically, object, it really is, so I'm trying to give you multiple models
17:54inside one model, so, if you've got any use for it, maybe I'll do that, I'll call this
18:00head as a face on that, it looks like a nose face on it, yeah, because it's facing the
18:08wrong way, wasn't it, as I said, obviously, when you're kind of working in Blender, make
18:14sure that the faces are all facing the right way, because, oh boy, you've got to come back
18:21and do yourself a little bit of extra work, like that face there, look, it's lovely, it's
18:25upside down, it's inside out, it's back to front, I think it's absolutely perfect, click
18:30this one, click here, flip, click this one, put it back to front, flip that one over,
18:37so that's back to front, so that's normal, as I said, when I finish it, I'll put it in
18:43the Windows 3D viewer, because you get a better look at it, and I'll be able to see if any
18:48of these are actually back to front or not, as I said, I'm doing like a video log series
18:54of all my content, because, at some point in the future, let's say I make something
19:00that looks like someone else's, I don't really want to have a long conversation by email
19:07with any artist out there who think, oh yeah, you're just copying the content, you're doing
19:13the same thing, I'm not genuinely doing the same thing, I'm trying to build a game world,
19:19and of course, in the game world, I want everyday assets, I want like benches, trees, there's
19:27no weapons, so there's no weapons in my game, so I don't need that, but you can always use
19:33maybe the sticks or a branch, if you want to use that, but as I said, I'm trying to
19:40get my whole entire world, everything, to be interactive, so anything that's in the
19:45world, more or less, if I can get the scripts working perfectly, I want to be able to break
19:51certain things, and damage certain things, so, yeah, so anyway, as I said, I'm trying
19:59to make a different, unique kind of game, which is quite different, and of course, whether
20:05or not I can achieve that, is a whole different matter, and I'll say that in my video, because
20:10as I said, I'm only just starting to basically kind of learn the actual game world, so I
20:17don't master, I'm really not, I'm just somebody in their spare time, when I'm not doing the
20:23websites, blog sites, and video sites, I'm just kind of tinkering around inside the actual
20:293D world, and I've got a couple of 3D sites, which are kind of great, which is like Action
20:35Core, Mixamo, and then you've got the engines, you've got Air Cry Engine, which is great,
20:44you've got the Airborne Real Engine, again, another one, which is pretty great, of course,
20:49they've all got learning curves, so, and they've all got their own skeletons, to make things
20:55just a little bit harder, so I'm thinking, erm, yeah, I don't understand really, why
20:59the skeletons are different, I really not, really don't, but, as I said, I'm only just
21:03starting, so, depending on what game engine you're using, as I said, I'm just kind of
21:09building, talking as I'm going along, the actual world, so this is how it basically
21:13looks, so we can save that, so I'm going to save it again, because you might want, now,
21:19I'm going to leave that world like that, I will show that world like that, so you've
21:23got it flat, you've got it, like, almost 3D, it's a 3D base, with a 2D base on top
21:29of it, I will connect that for you, absolutely perfect, but, now, is for the other part,
21:37as I said to you, in this part of the video, I'm going to be raising the slabs, so, if
21:42you want to see me raising the slabs, come back in the next part of the video, and, the
21:47only thing I'll be doing, is clicking on the squares, I'll be clicking this thing, over
21:51here, not that, this, I'll be clicking on every square, separately, like this, I'll
21:59be coming on top of you, I'm just going to show you this, so, if you want to watch it,
22:03watch part 3, if you don't want to watch it, you don't have to, now, I can't do every slab
22:07together, but I can do the slabs alternatively, like that, like separate, so, what I want
22:14to do, it shouldn't take too long, all I want to do is make like a window frame, around
22:18the slab, that's going to give me a gap in the floor, if you want to see it, come back
22:22in part, in the next part, and you'll see me doing the slabs, of Subway Alley 2, so,
22:31anyway, thanks very much for watching the video, I very much appreciate it, I hope you
22:34learn things from the video, as I said, I do talk about all different things, I talk
22:37about different websites, I talk about my game, I talk about everything, my downloads,
22:41anyway, as I said, as I usually say, thumbs up, thumbs down, subscribe, thumbs up, choice
22:50is yours, I want to keep it that way, all my 3D content, absolutely free of charge,
22:54download it, mess around with it, and have fun, do with it whatever you want, put it
23:00on your website, put it on your blog site, put it, do with it anything, whatever you
23:03want to do with it, if you do something great with it, leave a link under the video, and
23:06I'll come and take a look at it, anyway, see you soon, bye.
