00:00Tonight, the pressure is on for the sisters who are stuck in a design dilemma.
00:08We've literally worked three days on this.
00:10It's Wednesday and there's nothing being done.
00:12I feel so overwhelmed.
00:14The lock puts on a carnival.
00:17Raffles in four minutes.
00:22And prepare for a heartwarming surprise.
00:24To family and friends, yeah!
00:27As our contestants reunite with their loved ones after ten long weeks.
00:35Oh my goodness.
00:37Steel grabbed hold of me for ages.
00:39Gave me the biggest hug ever.
00:41I definitely needed that.
00:43I missed you guys so much.
00:58It is a misty Wednesday morning on the block.
01:01With five days until the reveal of their last internal spaces.
01:04Our block heads are off to a flying start.
01:09Things are going relatively well.
01:12This week we're doing our mezzanine bedroom and laundry.
01:15There's a lot happening today.
01:19We're on fire this week.
01:20There's a good vibe in the house.
01:22From the plasterers upstairs to the waterproofers doing their thing downstairs.
01:27We're a long way away from where we were week one, that's for sure.
01:31Morning.
01:32Morning.
01:33How are you?
01:34I'm good, how are you?
01:39Right now we're on tour.
01:40Cruising.
01:42Looks like all our contestants have finally hit their stride.
01:46How are you both feeling this morning?
01:50Well, not overly confident considering we don't have a plan and it's Wednesday.
01:54Well, maybe not quite all of them.
01:57Imagine if you forgot to press record.
02:01Three weeks ago, most of our block heads experienced what is known on the block as hump week.
02:07I have design block.
02:08I'm feeling really uninspired and I have no idea what to do.
02:14Stop.
02:15Honestly, get out.
02:16Why?
02:17No.
02:18If you're going or I'm going.
02:21We volunteered to do this.
02:23We gave up jobs that pay us money.
02:26Hard as the sisters started their block journey three weeks late,
02:31they are now experiencing their hump week.
02:34You want to be closer?
02:36We don't like each other.
02:39I think it fits you, yeah.
02:42Yeah, that's better.
02:43That is better.
02:44That's better.
02:53This week, we are doing the guest bedroom that is a part of our guest retreat.
03:00And we're also doing a laundry slash mud room.
03:04Slash powder room.
03:05Slash powder room.
03:06So we're all steam ahead for that, but we're still waiting on the guest bedroom.
03:12We wanted to create a room that still felt luxe, but had the functionality of sleeping for people.
03:19So we're going to do this elevated bed.
03:21But we very quickly found out that there's quite a few regulations around built-in bunks and pipes.
03:27And habitable spaces.
03:28And habitable spaces.
03:29And lofts.
03:30And everything.
03:31So today, we are still waiting for our plans to be approved.
03:36Yesterday, the girls were told by site manager Aiden, who's company nine and six, ensures all building on the block,
03:43that due to the extensive rules and regulations involved, he would not be ensuring a built-in bed in their house.
03:50It's pretty stringent, all the things it says you've got to go through in there, to make that compliant.
03:55Yeah, yeah.
03:56I personally don't see how that can happen.
03:58I don't feel confident in putting my name to it.
04:02So the girls' builder, Dan, found a private engineer willing to certify their design himself.
04:08So pretty much saying we're going to get a structural engineer to certify that last design as per 4220.
04:14Yeah.
04:15And tick off all the stuff.
04:16That would have to go back to her.
04:18I think that will put us in a much better position.
04:20Great, cool, so we can do it. Thanks!
04:21No, that's all I said.
04:22Can't get here, can you?
04:27We got the plans and the Australian standards and regulations to this engineer, who spent all night reading them.
04:36Which is 1am, reading everything.
04:37Understanding, so that he felt confident to certify it.
04:41We got the certificate, saying that we could go ahead from our engineer.
04:45And then we just had to send that off to Aiden, who was going to send it off to the building surveyor to get clearance.
04:52Now the girls are waiting to hear back from Aiden, to see if they can go ahead with their elevated bed design.
04:58I was planning some options for backups for our room upstairs, if the elevated bed situation gets a final absolutely no.
05:07So that at least when we get that, we can just go ahead with another plan straight away.
05:12We should have a response by 12pm today.
05:16If not, we're making the call to do the other plan.
05:19Because we cannot be without a plan on a Wednesday afternoon.
05:25I can't imagine it's going to be a cruisy day, let's put it that way.
05:30Hopefully our elevated bed just works.
05:33House 2, Courtney and Grumpy.
05:35This is a 1,000 square metre home, which effectively has one main wing.
05:40Categorically, that's an issue from a real estate perspective.
05:43The judges all wondered if you were to put some joinery in this space for wardrobe storage,
05:48you could still make this area into a private second main bedroom suite.
05:52And have a king size bed in the bedroom.
05:55Last Sunday and Monday were painful to get through.
05:59Last Sunday and Monday were painful to get through.
06:02After judging, honestly.
06:04Felt like the block was rigged.
06:06We felt like the judges were blind and that the winners were undeserving.
06:13But, I mean, the judges are judges for a reason.
06:16A lot of their feedback is constructive.
06:18When did this change here?
06:20With the wardrobe?
06:21Yeah, I think that's what the judges suggested.
06:24Courtney and Grant have decided to take on the judges' advice
06:27by moving the wardrobes into the rumpus.
06:29Therefore creating enough space to change the queen bed into a king.
06:34By moving our cabinetry out of the bedroom and into what is the rumpus room,
06:39it's effectively becoming a main suite.
06:42And we came up with the solution of a barn door on the rumpus space
06:46because we still wanted to keep it as an open area
06:51if, you know, if it's used as that, it doesn't feel too enclosing.
06:55Yeah, still being a flexible space.
06:57This is going to be closed off and basically you'll have this sitting area
07:00as your second main.
07:02And then your bathroom in there and then the bed, wardrobe here.
07:05How exciting.
07:06Hopefully it's worthwhile.
07:08I think it will be.
07:11By moving their cabinetry to the rumpus,
07:13Courtney and Grant now have enough room for a king-sized bed
07:16in this week's guest bedroom.
07:18And are sticking with their Mediterranean colour palette.
07:22The laundry downstairs will be simple and elegant
07:25with their signature stone on the bench top and brass tapware.
07:29The laundry is tracking really well.
07:31We've had our waterproofing go down this morning
07:33and then our builders are working away on extending that wall upstairs
07:37and installing the hardware we need for that barn door.
07:41Wall's going in today and then barn door goes on the stair side
07:47because we can't put it on this side because it will land in the window.
07:51And that's it at the moment.
07:53It was a lot of work to extend the wall.
07:55When you talk it through at the start of the week
07:57or people talk to you about it, it's easy.
07:59Just bang that wall up, a few sheets of plaster, it'll be sweet.
08:02And then what you don't realise is obviously the damage that happens
08:05to the spaces around it, the time it takes, the additional plastering.
08:10And also the half-nib wall that we already created
08:13was this beautiful curved wall.
08:16So getting rid of that and the money that you put into creating that
08:20and then it's the money that you're putting into creating a full-size wall.
08:24So it's a bit of a risk.
08:26It would be at least four or five grand out of pocket
08:29just from that change, right?
08:32But the more the days go on in the week,
08:34the more I agree wholeheartedly with this barn door.
08:38I think it's going to be a good change.
08:41Yeah, and a good selling point in the end.
08:45Early morning fog is finally lifting from the block site.
08:49What a beautiful day.
08:53So foreman Dan has decided it is time to fuel up the troops.
08:58Morning. Morning, Dan.
09:00Got a bit of an order. Can I grab two caramel lattes,
09:03one oat cappuccino and two hot choccies, please.
09:07MUSIC
09:18Dan's first stop is House 4.
09:24Brad, boys, Benny have just been to my cafe
09:28and got a few caramel lattes there.
09:31Dan, delivery.
09:34This week, Kylie and Brad have their mezzanine bedroom
09:37as well as a combined laundry and mudroom
09:39and a powder room all to deliver.
09:42And they are sticking with their bold black and white theme
09:45in both rooms.
09:47The guest bedroom will feature striking striped Grafico wallpaper.
09:53And the laundry downstairs will be a more simple design,
09:56still in keeping with their dark colour scheme.
10:00So, we're waterproof.
10:03Kingsmen are hot on our tails when they can get the cabinets in.
10:06Yeah, so they want to get their cabinets in
10:08so that way they can measure the stone.
10:10The bedroom, I think there's still some sheets to go up.
10:14So there's a lot happening and needs to happen very quickly.
10:19While their rooms look like they're on track,
10:22it has been a difficult start to the week for Kylie and Brad,
10:25who haven't seen their kids for ten weeks.
10:29It's very much missing the kids and family this week.
10:35It's definitely been, I guess, a long ten weeks
10:40and, you know, home's looking really good for us all.
10:44It's like a comfort.
10:46Just miss it.
10:47Yeah, we just miss it.
10:49Look, we've got a great family.
10:52We never planned on having four kids.
10:54Like, it was one of those things that...
10:56So, Parker's actually Brad's stepson,
10:58so I had him from another relationship.
11:01And I think that was another thing that drew me to fall in love with Brad
11:04was how he actually was treating Parker
11:06and how their relationship grew.
11:08And from there, like, I guess,
11:10our relationship accelerated pretty quickly
11:12because then we moved in together
11:14and then ended up, you know, wanting to have another child.
11:17So, we definitely, like, kind of went full throttle and had Bentley.
11:21And I guess when you sit back and you're actually spending time
11:24with the family, we just kind of go,
11:26like, look how cute they are.
11:28You get caught up in the love.
11:30Yeah, in the loved up and how nice everyone's getting on.
11:33And then we accidentally fell pregnant with Steel
11:36and he's the funniest.
11:39Like, honestly, he's...
11:41It's like the more kids we have, the better they're getting.
11:44It's dangerous, but true.
11:46And then, yeah, Slade was one of those little surprises,
11:50but it was really nice to have.
11:53They're a handful.
11:55Oh, yeah, they keep us alive.
11:57But I wouldn't trade it, like, when they are nice to each other
12:00and you see them all come together and helping each other out
12:03and helping with Slade.
12:05Yeah.
12:06You just remember exactly why.
12:08So, it's no wonder that Carly has been struggling.
12:16Right, so, stopping now, where are you guys off to?
12:20Home.
12:21We're going home.
12:25I can't do this without you.
12:27Just come with me.
12:30We've worked so hard for this.
12:32Do we not deserve a chance to win money?
12:36It's the only thing that makes any of this worth any of it.
12:42I guess the turnaround for me was
12:45you just have to snap out of it and know the reason why we're here.
12:49And we're here because we're trying to make a better life
12:53for ourselves and our kids.
12:55Hey.
12:56What are yous up to?
12:58Oh, you got his glasses?
12:59So, put them on, Sladey.
13:01Put them on.
13:05I guess...
13:06You don't want it to be for nothing.
13:07Yeah, you don't want it to be for nothing,
13:09but also for the fact that I'm a very stubborn person
13:11and when I start something, I like to see it through.
13:15In house one, sisters Maddie and Charlotte
13:18are still waiting to hear from side builder Aiden
13:20if they're able to go ahead with their elevated bed design
13:23in the guest bedroom.
13:25I think we've just got to make the call now.
13:27We've literally wasted three days on this.
13:30Is it holding you up with your space?
13:32Yeah, it's definitely holding us up.
13:33It's Wednesday and there's nothing being done.
13:35And we don't have a plan, don't have beds ordered,
13:37don't really have lights ordered, don't have rugs ordered,
13:39don't have artwork ordered,
13:40because I can't do that unless I know what we're doing in the room.
13:44Definitely.
13:47Hello, Aiden speaking.
13:48Hi, Aiden, it's Maddie. How are you going?
13:50Good, thank you, Maddie. How are you?
13:51Yeah, good.
13:55Right, so I've just got off the phone
13:57from the building surveyor.
13:58Yep.
13:59And he's happy with the shirt one, two, six you've got there.
14:03Uh-huh.
14:04So you are good to go.
14:06Really? Really?
14:08You are good to go.
14:09It's only lunchtime on Wednesday and you can finally start.
14:12Oh, my gosh.
14:13Thank you so much for all your help.
14:15I know that you really went into bat for this,
14:17so we appreciate all the time that you put in.
14:19No worries, no worries.
14:21You better hurry up and get building.
14:22Yeah, we better.
14:23I'm not sure I want it anymore, actually.
14:31I know.
14:32Well, thank you so much, Aiden.
14:33I really appreciate it.
14:34All right, see you later.
14:35OK.
14:36Bye.
14:37Thanks.
14:38We're putting in an elevated bed of some sort.
14:42We're going to build a full structure.
14:45So I bloody hope it looks good.
14:48How good's that?
14:49OK, well, now it's going to be an absolute disaster
14:52if it looks bad, so...
14:54We still had, like, self-doubt because we had people
14:58in the back of our ear being like,
15:00that's such a bad idea, why are you doing that?
15:02Oh, that's so much time, you've already wasted so much time,
15:04blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
15:05And so I think in the back of my head I was thinking,
15:07I hope this really pays off.
15:08Like, I hope this actually, like, works out
15:10because it puts more pressure on us now to actually execute it.
15:14Coming up, Aiden's pulling off the ultimate block heist,
15:18locking down another team's landscaping hall.
15:21So I said, I'll take those, thank you.
15:23And they were more than accommodating.
15:25And get ready for all the feels
15:27as our blockheads are reunited with their loved ones.
15:31It was amazing. Yeah, it was incredible.
15:33Yeah.
15:46Our house was the first house to have the scaff removed
15:50and it felt naked.
15:52It was so weird, but it looked amazing.
15:55I love our facility.
15:57It just feels massive.
15:59It makes me really nervous for landscaping week
16:03because it's just so big.
16:05Courtney and Grant are not the only ones
16:07with landscaping on their minds.
16:09Three weeks to go, mate.
16:11I can't believe we're done inside, though.
16:13It's hectic. Hectic.
16:15Best mates Riggi and Aiden are on track in this week's rooms
16:18with tiles going down in their laundry and powder room
16:21and Kingsmen installing cabinet doors
16:23in their mezzanine bedroom.
16:25So today, with no landscaper yet locked in for their outdoor areas,
16:29Aiden is out shopping for their landscaping items.
16:33I think this is one of my favourite Aiden shopping stories ever.
16:37Well...
16:39So when I went in there,
16:41there were a few things that might have been pre-selected
16:45as potential items that another landscaper might have wanted.
16:49It's pretty comfy.
16:51Come on, let's be clear. Who's this other...
16:53Be clear, mate. Who's this other landscaper?
16:55Christian and Mimi's landscaper, Troy.
16:59That would be Troy Lovett,
17:01who has been the brains behind some of the block's most incredible gardens.
17:08And it was last week he paid a visit to Shotts
17:11to lock in some landscaping furniture.
17:13I'm doing the landscaping for House 5.
17:16I'm doing the landscaping for House 5 for Christian and Mimi.
17:20And I need to do some shopping. I need to get lots of things.
17:23He had all these items that he'd...
17:26It wasn't on hold, but he just said,
17:28yeah, might take one of those, might take one of those.
17:30So he's reserved the whole shop. He's reserved the whole shop.
17:33I just love spending other people's money.
17:35I think I've got an outdoor table.
17:38All right, well, this is the table I was thinking.
17:41Perfect.
17:44Nice couple lounge areas.
17:47Four of those lounges.
17:50Nice seating and table for our oasis off the main bedroom.
17:55They're beautiful.
17:56Barbecues galore in Argentinian Barbie.
17:58I'll grab one of those.
18:00Some nice big vases.
18:01Can I get eight of those, please? Yeah.
18:03Bar stools and a bar bench.
18:06So this is the bench that I was thinking.
18:09We will take it. Yeah.
18:11I'll take those. Thank you.
18:13And they were more than accommodating.
18:15I think they actually started dragging out his cushions that he'd selected
18:18and said, do you want any of these too?
18:20Two of those, two of those and one of those.
18:24I said, calm down.
18:26I'll take them all.
18:28That's my style.
18:30OK, I'll send you the specs and everything.
18:32I hope they've got enough money.
18:34But you got a sales order approved.
18:36I did.
18:38I think that locks it in rather than just putting it on hold, doesn't it?
18:41Should. I hope so.
18:44So no Argentinian barbecue for Troy boy.
18:48Unaware of the landscaping items they'd taken from under her nose,
18:52Mimi is out collecting items for tomorrow's challenge with Courtney.
18:56I want to get this over with.
18:59I want to get this over with.
19:02While Christian is at the block focused on this week's rooms.
19:07Shall I move this?
19:09OK.
19:11Beautiful.
19:13House five is not only the largest on the block,
19:15it also has a completely different floor plan to the rest.
19:18So Christian and Mimi are the only team working entirely on the ground floor this week.
19:24So this week we are doing the last guest bedroom,
19:27which we've moved to the front of the house where the rumpus was.
19:31And we're doing the laundry.
19:34Their laundry will have a neutral colour palette
19:37and feature a hanging rail, washer, dryer and drying cupboard.
19:43The guest bedroom plan includes a walk-through wardrobe
19:46that is hidden behind a nip wall that will also act as a bedhead.
19:50It's really nice.
19:52There's two massive windows, which lets in so much natural light,
19:55which is so perfect for a bedroom, in my opinion, rather than a rumpus.
20:01And unlike Courtney and Grant in house two,
20:03they have decided to ignore the judges' advice
20:06and keep the floor plan change they made last week.
20:10Marty still thinks this room would have been better as a guest bedroom with an en suite.
20:15This is the perfect spot.
20:16Imagine the bed here looking out into the garden.
20:19Absolutely. And that other room, which they will now have as a bedroom,
20:23is on the thoroughfare of getting to all the other houses, which is noisy.
20:30And now foreman Dan is here to hopefully sign off on their insulation
20:34so they can begin to hang plaster.
20:38Double layer.
20:39Double layer sound screen.
20:42Cloudy.
20:43Lovely.
20:44Beautiful.
20:47And thanks to their friends in house two, who have shared their tilers,
20:51Christian and Mimi are well on track to finish and reveal two rooms this week.
20:56Thanks, friend.
20:57No worries, mate. Enjoy.
21:00Our waterproofers and our tilers, the twin tilers, or Imperial,
21:03they have tiled Christian and Mimi's laundry.
21:06So, yeah, quite the sharing of trades.
21:10How you got much longer to go?
21:11No, they've got four tilers to make.
21:15Christian and Mimi at house five, we've got a very two-way street.
21:18And actually Kylie and Brett.
21:20We don't really have too much to do in terms of sharing with the other houses.
21:25House one, you'd say?
21:27Definitely not. Not happening under my watch.
21:29House three?
21:30Not happening under my watch.
21:32House four?
21:33Brett and I have a bit of an understanding.
21:35So it's just one and three, then?
21:37Nah.
21:46As the sun sets, the last waterproof Wednesday of the year is nearly done.
21:51And with the laundry set to be installed by Kingsman tomorrow,
21:54let's see who's on track.
21:57We're waterproof and all of our tiles finished.
22:00Yeah, we are ready for Kingsman install.
22:06We are looking good to go.
22:08Waterproof's in, been approved,
22:10and the room upstairs has finished everything building-wise.
22:17We're all plastered.
22:18We'll be sanding tomorrow, we'll be painting tomorrow night,
22:20and we're tiling.
22:22So, yeah, we're well on track.
22:26We have a robe installed in the bedroom, thanks to Kingsman.
22:33And we are getting our laundry put in tomorrow, thanks to Kingsman.
22:44How is your laundry going?
22:46That's a very good question, Rosie.
22:48Our laundry is having a few problems with that.
22:58We were meant to have our laundry waterproof tonight,
23:01and our waterproofer arrived.
23:03And the lovely Kylie from Nine and Six informed us
23:07that there's no trades after 8pm.
23:12So 8 o'clock's the absolute latest, hey?
23:14Yep.
23:15Because we're going to have to turn around our waterproofer,
23:17and come and do one coat.
23:18Yeah.
23:19Sorry.
23:208 o'clock.
23:21It's a bit unfortunate,
23:22because our poor waterproofer drove all the way here,
23:24and then we literally found out as he was driving in
23:27that it was a no.
23:29Hello.
23:30Hey, how are you?
23:31Yeah, it's such a muck around.
23:33I'm so sorry.
23:34Obviously, like, I will pay for your time for transport and stuff.
23:37It's such a muck around.
23:39And so he's going to come back first thing in the morning,
23:42which obviously then puts you behind,
23:44because you have to wait for it to dry,
23:46and then it's pushed our tiler back,
23:47and then pushing our tiler back pushes, like, the cabinetry back,
23:51which then pushes the stone back,
23:52which then pushes the plumbing back,
23:54and then, yeah, it's a bit of a domino effect.
23:57The basics for a laundry will be done,
23:59but we might not be able to, like, completely finish it.
24:07Oh, my gosh, that is outstanding.
24:09Oh, she likes it too!
24:11See how our all-stars Dan and Danni rate the Blockheads' rooms
24:14when they award their weekly champs and chomps.
24:17Who are your champs?
24:18Exclusively at the Block website.
24:31It's Thursday of mezzanine bedroom and laundry week,
24:33and each house's trades are hard at work.
24:36Tiles are going down and Kingsman cabinetry is going in.
24:41Earlier this week, the teams were all invited
24:43to the Block Island Funfair Challenge.
24:46Roll up, roll up.
24:47It's time to put on a show for our Phillip Island friends.
24:49So he announced that there's a challenge on Thursday
24:52at the Funfair, and we have to create a stall.
24:55So today they're out at the Cow's Foreshore for a day of fun.
25:01Oh, it's beautiful. So nice.
25:03Oh, my gosh, the sun's out, it's actually kind of warm,
25:06there's no wind.
25:07It's a perfect day for this funfair.
25:10Well, g'day, gang.
25:11Welcome to the magnificent Cow's Foreshore,
25:14where we are moments away from your very own funfair
25:18for the Phillip Island locals.
25:19It's going to be awesome.
25:20It is awesome.
25:21What an amazing location, great set-up,
25:23and it's evoking all those old childhood memories,
25:26you know, fairy floss and hot dogs and games.
25:29Yes, it's fantastic.
25:31Your challenge today is to create your very own funfair stall
25:35for the Phillip Island locals.
25:36A team that does the best job, as voted by the locals,
25:40will win an incredible $10,000.
25:45Thanks to Arnott's Magnificent Beauty.
25:49Yes, that is some funfair, is it not?
25:52You know what else we need to create the fun in fair?
25:59We need a boatload of people coming in.
26:03Yes, that would be good.
26:05So we see this massive yacht.
26:08Yacht?
26:09Was it a yacht?
26:11Here they are.
26:13We saw this cruise ship.
26:16Whatever, go with whatever you like.
26:18We saw this boat roll up, swim up.
26:25Float?
26:26We saw this boat approach us.
26:29It's a boatload of people, and it's your family and friends.
26:32Jack!
26:46All of our families appeared.
26:52When they all saw us, that was like the best moment ever.
27:03Oh, my God, Slade is so cute.
27:06With his little beanie.
27:09Have you got your family down?
27:11Yes.
27:14How good's that?
27:15Oh, my God, Kylie, he's so cute.
27:18Oh, my God.
27:22Let's go.
27:23Get up here.
27:24Hello.
27:26Oh, my goodness.
27:33Still grabbed hold of me for ages.
27:35Gave me the biggest hug ever.
27:37Yeah.
27:39It was good.
27:40I definitely needed that.
27:47How are you, my dear?
27:49And my mum was holding Slade.
27:51That was cute.
27:53We were half just like, will Slade remember us?
27:56Like, he's only one.
27:58Does he know who we are?
28:00And the first thing, Dadda.
28:02And I was like, of course.
28:04Come here.
28:07Hey, Brad.
28:08Hey, Dad.
28:09How are you?
28:10Been in trouble?
28:23Lots of tears.
28:24Lots of tears were shed.
28:26Happy tears, though.
28:27Yeah, happy tears.
28:29Especially from you.
28:38This is my little niece, Callista.
28:40Oh, it's so good to have her here.
28:42She's grown up so much since we left.
28:45Hey, Kelly.
28:46Hey, hey, don't cry.
28:47You're going to look back at this one day on TV.
28:49You don't want to be crying.
28:50It was also nice to see Kylie and Brad
28:52reunite with their kids, too.
28:54How are you?
28:55Good.
28:56Is she good?
28:57Is she good?
28:58I missed you guys so much.
29:10Are you surprised?
29:11Yeah, I didn't expect you back.
29:15When he mentioned friends and family,
29:17we did not expect our family to be there.
29:19Mum and Dadda just came for both of us.
29:21My brother was here early in the season.
29:24But to see everyone...
29:26It was amazing.
29:27Yeah, it was incredible.
29:28Yeah.
29:29It was incredible.
29:30This is Grant's mum, Grant's dad.
29:32Lovely to meet you.
29:33And then Grant's brothers.
29:34Yes, I couldn't tell.
29:36Not at all.
29:37It's like, you know, you're tireless, right?
29:39Yeah, yeah.
29:40Mum and Dad photocopied us.
29:46How are you?
29:50Our parents are in Europe,
29:51but our pop and brother and our best friend, Amelia,
29:54came, so that was really sweet to see them.
29:58We've got our pop, and then best friend Amelia,
30:01and then brother Jack.
30:03Or twin to Madeline.
30:04Madeline and Jack.
30:06Madeline's twin.
30:08So this is the other Jack.
30:09What's it like seeing them?
30:10Oh, fabulous, yeah.
30:12Didn't expect it.
30:15I think he was more surprised than we were.
30:17I don't think he knew where he was coming to.
30:24Alright, so starting on the left,
30:26we've got Candice, Christian's sister.
30:28Fernie, Christian's dad.
30:30Kang, my dad.
30:31Deep, my mum.
30:34Kalissa, our little niece.
30:37And Louise, Christian's mum.
30:39This is amazing.
30:40This is amazing.
30:41We're a very close family.
30:42All of us together.
30:44Too close at the moment.
30:48This is Slade.
30:49Are you going to say hi?
30:51Are you going to say hi?
30:53Hi.
30:55This is the best surprise ever.
31:00You can keep the challenge.
31:01We'll see you later.
31:06Pretty damn good.
31:07I know I've seen Chelsea and Tilly a little bit lately,
31:10but to see everyone else's faces,
31:13to get to see their families,
31:14I know it's been a tough ride for a lot of people.
31:16So getting to see their families and friends
31:18definitely lifted them up and gave them that extra pep.
31:21I've seen this one recently.
31:23We've made some little appearances.
31:25Hayden needs his little girl.
31:26So, yeah, we've come and gone.
31:28But, yeah, it's nice to be here with the other families as well.
31:31It's great to see Gidge.
31:32It was her birthday last week?
31:34Last week.
31:35I don't even know what day it is.
31:36Yeah, a couple of weeks ago.
31:37Yeah, so we missed out on her birthday,
31:39so it's good to see her too.
31:40Great to be here.
31:43I don't have much of a family.
31:45I've been estranged from my family since I was about 16 years old.
31:49I'm super lucky to have guys like Hayden
31:52and his family, Bridget, Chelsea.
31:55Like, these guys, they're amazing friends and family to me.
32:00It's a wicked spot down here.
32:02Yeah.
32:05Bridget's one of our very close mates.
32:07She's the sister of my late best mate, Lockie,
32:12a good mate of Hayden's too.
32:15We lost him in a car accident just over 10 years ago.
32:19And, yeah, it's amazing how quickly your life changes in a heartbeat.
32:26We were inseparable.
32:27We did everything together.
32:28You know, we played footy together, drank beers together.
32:31We sort of just had each other.
32:33We were like brothers.
32:34We had matching tats.
32:35Brothers, different mothers.
32:37Me and him were like...
32:39We were like Bonnie and Clyde.
32:40Like, we were like...
32:42Yeah, if you had both of us at a party,
32:45it was a way better party.
32:48I made a promise to Lockie that I would make it.
32:51And, you know, when he left,
32:55you know, we were both young plumbers with a life ahead of us
33:00and, you know, heaps of dreams and heaps of aspirations.
33:05So, you know, it's my job now to make sure I accomplish
33:09as much as I can accomplish for both of us.
33:11Yeah, Giz definitely sees a bit of Lockie in me.
33:14And losing our brother is hard
33:17and, you know, I help fulfill that little bit of role.
33:20And she does say pretty often that Lockie would be so proud
33:24because she knows that's what I'm just trying to do.
33:26Yeah, I dig deep every day for him
33:28and, you know, he's never far from our thoughts.
33:32He was an absolute legend.
33:33We know he's watching over us.
33:37WHISTLE BLOWS
33:39MUSIC PLAYS
33:44Is that exciting?
33:45Yeah.
33:47The Block Island Fun Fair is about to begin
33:49and artists have gone all out for the local residents
33:52and for our contestants
33:54by flying out their family and friends.
33:57Can I do green glitter?
33:58Sure!
33:59We're going to do green glitter.
34:00Pack of scotch fingers?
34:02You don't happen to have chocolate-coated scotch fingers?
34:04I don't have any chocolate-coated.
34:06They call me the chocolate-coated scotch finger bandit at work
34:09because every time they put it in the jar, I'll stop it.
34:12Eat them at the same time, see if that works.
34:14There you go.
34:15Amazing.
34:16Scotch fingers?
34:17No, give me one, give me one.
34:21I'm so hungry, I haven't eaten breakfast.
34:23Mmm.
34:25Go on.
34:26Our teams are setting up their fun fair stalls
34:28for the general public to vote on their favourite
34:31and the most popular will win $10,000 thanks to artists.
34:34So pumped.
34:35We're pumped.
34:36Yeah, I think the challenge will be really fun.
34:39Courtney and Grant's fun fair attraction
34:41is a giant-sized Guess Who style game
34:44made of truecore and featuring the faces of blockheads,
34:47builders, judges and even me and Shelly.
34:51Want me to help cook?
34:52More of an angle or no?
34:53No, I think that's good.
34:55The fairy floss machine is ready when people want it.
34:58Just start making some.
34:59Maddie and Charlotte's sweet stall features a game called
35:02Bobbing for Donuts where kids try to eat donuts
35:05hanging from string without using their hands.
35:08And to get more votes,
35:09they are serving a wonderland of sugary treats.
35:12We've got a slushie machine, we've got a popcorn machine,
35:15we've got a fairy floss machine.
35:17We've got, like, a lolly bar.
35:19Just trying to put as much sugar in the little kiddies as possible.
35:23Do you want to try fishing?
35:25I'm not getting wet now.
35:26There's no water in there.
35:27No, that's even worse.
35:29I'll just hurt myself.
35:32The dunk tank attraction will allow fair-goers
35:34to soak not only Christian and Mimi
35:36but also several other block regulars,
35:39who Mimi has persuaded to take a dip.
35:44Have you never held a hose before?
35:46Not like that.
35:48Money people!
35:49Kids are going to want more than one shot,
35:51so do the kids get, like, five shots?
35:53Yep.
35:54Try and nail one?
35:55Yep.
35:56Yeah, I reckon.
35:57Nice.
35:58Can be done.
35:59Can be done.
36:01Riggie and Hayden's prizes will accompany a raffle
36:03as well as their sports-themed stand.
36:05Including three-pointers with a basketball hoop
36:08and a putting channel.
36:10Easy to set up, right?
36:12Oh, we just need to set up our basketball rings,
36:14set the mini-golf, throw some streamers around,
36:16get our tables set up, get all our prizes out,
36:18and so...
36:19A lot, just a little bit.
36:22All the prep work is by pumping all the balloons up.
36:27Also pinning them to the corkboard.
36:31And then I just needed a chair for my crazy hair,
36:34so, look, that was easy.
36:35Can you let Steele go next?
36:37I've been waiting!
36:38I'll do it after, I promise.
36:39When you win the purple hair, OK?
36:42I'll let you win it.
36:44Pop a balloon and win a prize at Kylie and Brad's stall.
36:47Plus, Kylie's also offering glittering green hair makeovers
36:51to anyone silly enough.
36:53I mean, anyone lucky enough to want one.
36:59Whoa.
37:05Whoa.
37:09Ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much for coming.
37:13We've been made feel so welcome on Phillip Island
37:16that we thought we'd put on a funfair to say thank you very much.
37:20Are we ready to go, Shell?
37:21I think we are.
37:22I think we should open the Block Island Funfair right now.
37:25That's it, let the games begin!
37:27Yippee-ki-yay!
37:29And don't forget to vote!
37:34Whoa!
37:42Roll up, roll up, ladies and gentlemen!
37:47The block jump is on!
37:50Just get this little kid to run up and smash it.
37:53Whoa!
37:54Give him another shot.
37:55Go on, you can do it.
37:56You can do it.
38:00Whoa!
38:05Whoa!
38:10Mimis everywhere.
38:12I don't think they really were that keen on having green hair.
38:15Hello! How are you? You want green hair?
38:19They did ask for choice and I was like, it's green.
38:21And they're like, OK.
38:26Sit down and get some green hair
38:28and then throw a dart at the balloon, all right?
38:31Yay!
38:32You did it! Good job!
38:36My kids ate all the lollies that they could
38:39and all they wanted to do
38:41was to pretty much dunk people in the dunk tank.
38:43Whoa!
38:48What's your name, dude? Go again.
38:51Last shot. Go one more.
38:53There'd be like 15 or 20 kids stacked up, wasn't there?
38:58Shots! Nice!
38:59That was crazy.
39:00There was kids hitting golf balls
39:02and shooting hoops at the same time.
39:04Basketballs going around the golf course.
39:06I don't even think I spoke to you for a minute other than,
39:08hey, Ricky, pass the ball.
39:09I was like, hey, prize that kid.
39:12Well done, mate. Well done.
39:14Prize him up, dude.
39:15Get it in there.
39:16Oh!
39:18Very close, mate.
39:19Tell you what, because you were so close,
39:20I reckon he's earned a prize, mate.
39:21He's earned a prize as well.
39:22Get it in there.
39:23Lucky dip. Can't look, you've got to lucky dip it.
39:26Pick for the biggest one.
39:27There you go.
39:29Don't forget your raffle ticket as well, mate.
39:34It was one of the better days.
39:36Even though it didn't totally go to plan with our timetable, but...
39:40Oh, yeah.
39:41Is Ricky keen or not?
39:43I don't know. I think he's got to do his thing.
39:45Ask him. What am I going to do?
39:49It was strategy, mate.
39:50I signed up to make sure I emptied the slot,
39:53knowing I was going to be too busy.
39:55Mate, it's a challenge, mate.
39:57You've got to do what you've got to do to win.
40:07I should have signed Hayden up to go after me
40:09and really stitch them up.
40:18It's all going down at the Blocks Island Fun Fair.
40:28Hi, Birdie.
40:29Would you like some fairy floss?
40:31Oh, look at her.
40:33You're going to get a good one.
40:35We are dressed up as Anna and Elsa from Frozen,
40:39and we have our custom-made costumes.
40:42Our cousin is a wedding dress maker,
40:44so she also makes fun little costumes.
40:47Yeah, who am I?
40:49High five!
40:52I feel like our store was a bit of a hit.
40:54Yeah, all the kids loved it.
40:56And adults loved it, I feel like.
41:04Pop was really proud of us.
41:06Yeah, it's really sweet.
41:08With these lollies, they get one of each kind?
41:11Yeah, three. Three lollies.
41:13Three all together?
41:14Three lollies, yeah.
41:15Yeah, they're three all together.
41:17I was like, can I tell all my friends in the retirement home?
41:22Like, yes, Pop, you can tell people.
41:24Yeah, he's a very proud Pop,
41:26so it's nice to spend time with him
41:28and, yeah, for him to see what we're doing.
41:31Do they have a hat?
41:32Over there.
41:33Yeah.
41:34They do have a hat, all right.
41:36So all the non-hats I put down.
41:38We had such a good day.
41:39Very good time.
41:41What makes this so special is that Phillip Island is like our home.
41:45Like, the community in Cowes is like no other.
41:48I've never experienced anything like it.
41:50Like, everyone knows everyone.
41:52Everyone helps everyone.
41:53Everyone is so welcoming.
41:55My mum and dad both mentioned it during the fair.
41:58They said it's so amazing seeing you interact.
42:02You know everyone in the community.
42:04Hi, how are you?
42:06Good, how are you?
42:07Why is this Tommy?
42:08Let's do it.
42:09How are you?
42:11How are you, Craig?
42:13Good, thanks.
42:14You know them first name basis
42:16and, like, you're really close to the community.
42:18I think that's going to be the toughest thing,
42:20is, like, leaving Phillip Island.
42:22Just, I don't know, it feels like home.
42:24Yeah.
42:28It is incredible.
42:29It's crazy.
42:32Raffles in four minutes.
42:34We've had a great day.
42:35Like, obviously the kids have had a great day.
42:37We've given out all our prizes.
42:39See, 16.
42:40Yes!
42:41Wow, God.
42:43It's your lucky day.
42:44Luckiest kid alive.
42:45It's a giant light.
42:47Have you got somewhere to put it in your home?
42:49Yeah, my room or my desk.
42:51It's going to be hard to flip it.
42:53Wow.
42:54I'll manage.
43:14You go for me.
43:15No, no, no, no!
43:18I got dunked for 20 minutes.
43:20Mum, no!
43:21Mum's up.
43:28It's good to have family support.
43:30Yeah, it is good to have family support.
43:37Scotty, why are you watching this?
43:39I'm just watching.
43:41Scotty, I literally perched myself up.
43:43He just walks up and...
43:52What is he up against, mate?
43:54Yeah, that was the heart of the day.
43:56And then Foreman Dan got dunked.
43:58We want Dan!
43:59We want Dan!
44:06And Tien and Lulu got dunked as well.
44:14Get Lulu!
44:17That was really freaking cold.
44:19It wasn't cold at all.
44:21Are we getting anything for this?
44:23Yeah, who do I send my invoice to?
44:25Do we have to get anything for this?
44:26What do we get for this?
44:29There's only a few minutes left for the community to vote.
44:32So which stalls are the favourites?
44:35Possibly the lolly stand.
44:38Guess Who was pretty cool.
44:40Yes, Guess Who, yeah.
44:41Probably the yellow team.
44:43Although I really enjoyed dunking the guy from the purple team.
44:48The votes are in and tallied.
44:50So it's time to reveal who won the Block Island Funfair.
44:54Well, ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for coming out to our funfair.
44:58What a reunion it was with family and friends.
45:01You guys manning your stalls with the support of your loved ones.
45:05It was beautiful, Shell.
45:06Yeah, it was.
45:07I think you all did a magnificent job with your stalls.
45:09Now, there could only be one winner and that winner, you ready for this?
45:13Is thanks to Arnott's Big Ears.
45:16Here, have some ice fobos.
45:19Here, you have some $10,000.
45:20Oh, no.
45:21No, I don't think so.
45:24$10,000, thanks to Arnott's.
45:27We had hundreds of votes, literally.
45:30And it came down to just six votes.
45:35Wow.
45:36It was really close.
45:38The winner by six votes is...
45:56The Block Island Funfair has made a splashdown on the cows' portion.
46:01Oh!
46:05Now it's time to reveal which house will win $10,000, thanks to the public vote.
46:11The winner by six votes is...
46:18House 5!
46:25Here, take the money, don't cry, don't cry.
46:31Oh, finally.
46:32We won a challenge.
46:33Oh, my God!
46:34It's our first challenge win.
46:37Finally!
46:38And it's $10,000, because they were all $5,000.
46:43And as for you guys, you're allowed to take your families back to the block and show them all your hard work,
46:48because you've still got a room to deliver on Sunday.
46:51We'll see you soon.
46:53Bye.
46:54Bye-bye.
47:01Woo!
47:09This is the one Mummy and Daddy are building.
47:11Mummy, that could be a hotel.
47:13I know.
47:14Look how big it is.
47:15The kids have always wanted to be really involved with what we're up to.
47:18It's Mummy and Daddy's house.
47:19What do you think?
47:20So to actually take them through the property and let them see why we've been away for so long
47:26and what we've been doing was absolutely amazing.
47:29Can we buy this house?
47:31I would love to.
47:32Do you love it?
47:33I love it.
47:34No.
47:35You should see the other rooms.
47:36They're not even finished.
47:38Oi!
47:41Oh, hello.
47:42Hello.
47:43Hello.
47:44It was really heartwarming to have them there with us.
47:48Yeah.
47:49Oh, my God.
47:50This is amazing.
47:51They love the house.
47:52They think that it's pretty cool what we've done.
47:55Come look in here.
47:56Oh, my God, guys.
47:58You've done such a good job.
48:00It's a bit of a maze in here, but...
48:02This is amazing.
48:03I feel like coming into this, we literally had zero, zero experience in anything.
48:09Like, he's in the, you know, he's a spa keeper.
48:11What's he doing?
48:15No, I didn't mean it like that.
48:17I mean, like, in terms of your, like, I mean, in terms of your, like, job,
48:21what have you needed to really do?
48:28Damn it.
48:34So we came back from the challenge, and there was no tiles on the floor,
48:38and I was like, what the heck is happening here?
48:41Why waterproof twice when you can waterproof three times?
48:44Why?
48:45How did you do that?
48:46Because I, um, I went and got...
48:48I went and checked it.
48:49Did you step on it?
48:51Hey, I went and checked it.
48:52It was all good.
48:53So I went and...
48:55Within five minutes, fully walked on.
48:57So no tiles on today.
48:59No tiles?
49:00Are you kidding me?
49:01We had to re-waterproof it.
49:02It was 2.30 when it happened.
49:04The damage to the waterproofing essentially just means another delay,
49:07which is so frustrating because we're already behind,
49:11and if we got the tiling done today like we planned, like, we'd be on track.
49:15It's kind of hard to visualize exactly how everything's going to work together
49:19or get done.
49:20Yeah.
49:21Well, I've got too much to do.
49:23Show yourself around.
49:24Come with me.
49:25Come.
49:27I was, like, overwhelmed.
49:28Like, oh, my gosh, there's so much going on.
49:30And at the same time, I have my family and Amelia here,
49:33and I was just like, I want to show you around.
49:35I want to spend time with you, but I feel so stressed right now.
49:37And I just, like, went into my room with Amelia, and I just cried.
49:41And I was like, I feel so out of my depth.
49:43I feel so overwhelmed.
49:45Huh?
49:46Overwhelmed.
49:48What's overwhelming you?
49:49Just everything.
49:50Your builder says he's got it.
49:53But he's optimistic.
49:54It's going to be crazy.
49:56Of course.
49:57But it always is, yeah?
49:58Yeah.
49:59It was really comforting having people that, like,
50:02I feel most comfortable around there and can be completely myself.
50:09Welcome back, Tills.
50:12Daddy's house.
50:13You're back.
50:14It's huge.
50:15Isn't it?
50:16All your natural lighting coming through.
50:18We got to bring Gidge and Chelsea Tills back to the house.
50:22Showed Gidge around.
50:24She's pretty impressed with everything we've been doing
50:27and what we've accomplished.
50:28Does the hat come with the house?
50:30Yeah, it does.
50:31I like that.
50:32I'll pay a few mil for that.
50:36We've got a lot of painting to do, mate.
50:37Sorry.
50:38A lot of painting to do, too.
50:39Fortunately, the block does not rest.
50:42There, mate.
50:47When I came, it was all frame.
50:48It was all frame?
50:49It was all frame.
50:50There was nothing there.
50:51Yeah, the family loved it.
50:52Loved it.
50:53For them to actually see 90% of the house complete,
50:55I think they were really proud.
50:56They were really proud to see it all come together.
51:01Courtney and Grant's families are also impressed
51:04by the house of their besties, Christian and Mimi.
51:07I really like that.
51:08Imagine doing pastry on here.
51:10It's beautiful, isn't it?
51:11It's been ages since me and my two brothers were together.
51:15I'm talking a couple of years.
51:16Mum mentioned something that day.
51:18I was just...
51:19Yeah, I think that's all she's been wishing for
51:21over the last couple of years,
51:22to have us all together again in one spot.
51:25So we did that, which was really, really nice.
51:31Are you tired?
51:32Too tired?
51:33Are you hungry?
51:35100% the hardest thing is missing the family.
51:39Yeah.
51:42I threw Slade back and, like, tickled him,
51:44and he's, like, what did he cut, like, four teeth?
51:47Daddy!
51:48Daddy!
51:52And he's talking so much more.
51:54Still not mummy, but...
51:57But, yeah, there's, like, structure and words.
52:02Yeah.
52:04It's hard because then you know that you've missed that.
52:07But it's also nice to see the growth too.
52:12Let's watch a movie.
52:13We haven't watched a movie together in ages.
52:16Elemental!
52:18You like Elemental?
52:19Yeah.
52:21I had a good chat with Brad.
52:23He said, oh, that's what makes it so hard, he said,
52:26cos family's a sure thing, right?
52:28They're there every morning when you wake up
52:29and they're there every night when you go to bed.
52:31Now that I've seen them with their kids,
52:33I get why their emotions are so intense.
52:35They're giving up everything.
52:36They're giving up their world to be here.
52:38So when they feel like judging doesn't go their way
52:40or it's not consistent,
52:41I understand why you're so pissed off.
52:43It's more than just the comments themselves
52:45that would piss them off.
52:46Yeah.
52:47You're making me cry!
52:50I know it's only three more weeks and we get to see them.
52:53And they are a lot of the reason to why we're here
52:56and seeing them, seeing their happy faces,
52:59it just helps fill your cup to get you through
53:02and get you to the end.
53:07Tomorrow night...
53:09Love you.
53:10I'm gonna miss you.
53:12..all the family feels disappear once they go home
53:16and reality bites again.
53:18I told them, the middle.
53:20Sparkies are not allowed for the wardrobe in the room
53:23and have placed all the lighting dead centre.
53:25They've all got to move 600 this way.
53:28Maddie and Charlotte's struggles continue.
53:31Are all the other laundries in?
53:32Everything's down.
53:33Form and Dan is in our ear being like,
53:35Brass needs to go in the cabinet, you're so far behind.
53:38You've actually completely stuffed up the schedule
53:40of doing it like this.
53:41It's like, we get it, we're a disappointment.
53:42What do you want?
53:43Stop listening to them, Madeline.
53:44Walk away from them.
