00:00:00This week has been a trilogy of trials, everything was a perfect storm, that's played out in
00:00:16three distinct acts. First, there was hallways to deliver. And whoever builds the best hallway
00:00:24wins 10,000 cash. We will not be reviewing a complete hallway. The hallway that was the
00:00:32best was house number two. And the second act, the domain listing and buyers jury. Complete
00:00:43with V.O.P. guests to impress. Were there any standouts? Yeah, house five. I personally
00:00:48like house number five. The attendees saw things differently. The winners are...house
00:00:54number three! We could win the block now. We could. And act three, this week's rumpus
00:01:00and office spaces to complete. This week on The Week From Hell. You say that every week.
00:01:07Every single week. Biggest week ever! But it actually is. This week on the block, we
00:01:13push contestants to their absolute limit and see who cracks first. And then it just
00:01:19pans to Christian Amimi. Yeah, yeah. This week on the block. Oh, leave his ass. Are
00:01:27Christian Amimi gonna stay together? Why was it that bad? Because we mean you. It's from
00:01:35my perspective, darling. Tonight, our blockheads close out that third and final act. No, I
00:01:43don't agree with that plan. You always be unreasonable. You're unreasonable. As they
00:01:51push to deliver this week's rooms. Some knock it out of the park. Cute as a butt. This is
00:01:59what you call a leg of your own. And others leave the judges less than impressed. This is
00:02:06functionally useless. Ten out of ten for creating the most uncomfortable room we've seen this
00:02:14season. Ouch. That's bad. I hate this place. With the sheer size of those rumpus office
00:02:39areas and the sheer size of the week, there's still lots to do. Everyone's exhausted. Everyone's
00:02:52just really feeling it. It's coming to the end. What, three more weeks? Everyone was focused on
00:02:58the hallways and the Domain Listings Challenge. And then as soon as Friday came around, it was
00:03:03like, well, other two rooms. What about those? Fun fact, ice hockey and week nine of the Block
00:03:192024 are some of the only official sports to be played in thirds. And now it's officially time
00:03:25for our blockheads to face off for the third and final period this week. Saturday morning,
00:03:35still got plenty of setting to be done. Takes a lot of time for the plaster to dry, unfortunately.
00:03:41So the plan is to get it all dry. Start sanding. Then start taping up to paint. We were going to
00:03:54attempt to spray because it is such a large area. Kylie and Brad's rumpus and office space spans a
00:04:02generous 71 square metres upstairs in their mezzanine. And the open nature of the office
00:04:08space has had Kylie floundering this week. I always knew that we still definitely wanted it
00:04:14to be an office rumpus slash another living space. It was just how to configure it. It needed to be a
00:04:20bit of a feature because when you're down in the living dining, looking up, you see that. So you
00:04:26want to make sure there's a bit of an impact with the space. So they've landed on using a glass
00:04:31balustrade, black trim, black curtains, study desk against the wall and a leather sofa, which will
00:04:38overlook the kitchen and dining area. Visually, it's where I want it to go, but I still can't
00:04:46really work out what the space is. Just throw it all in and hope for the best.
00:04:49Morning team, how are we? Good, how are you doing? I thought I'd bring you some coffees.
00:05:05Oh, thank you. Try and bring some energy. Thanks, mate.
00:05:09Think you're still thinking not worrying about upstairs?
00:05:12Yeah, no, upstairs sucks. I think it's a good idea. I really do. It's hard to accept,
00:05:18but I think it's the best idea. Christian and Mimi are the only team whose office and rumpus
00:05:23rooms are split across their upstairs and downstairs levels. And after failing to complete
00:05:29their hallways in round one earlier this week, yesterday, these guys made the emotional decision
00:05:34to forego their upstairs office, but they were turning into a fifth bedroom and concentrate
00:05:40solely on their downstairs rumpus, which they're calling the pool room because of its proximity to,
00:05:46yep, you guessed it, the pool. The pool room will feature timber herringbone floors,
00:05:52potted timber on the walls and coastal inspired decor. We'll finish that room up 100% and get it
00:05:58styled and we'll take our time, no rushing. And then hopefully we've got enough time to clean
00:06:03this room, which we're doing next week, the laundry upstairs, just give it a little tidy
00:06:07up so when on Monday, when the boys come, they can just start smashing it out. Yeah, nice. I
00:06:11wanted to concentrate on finishing our pool room and then make the next priority, cleaning out the
00:06:16laundry, the WC and the bedroom that we are going to be working on next week. All good though guys.
00:06:22Thank you so much. That was my goal, but Mimi thought it would be a good idea to start working
00:06:28on the hallway.
00:06:35You start sanding this, I literally can paint tonight and then we'll have a hallway done.
00:06:40I feel like cleaning now, just so it's a clean slate, get off my head.
00:06:44While landscaping's on, you can start painting while landscaping's on. I'd rather just do that
00:06:48tonight, Christian. For me, because I'm the painter, it just seemed like a bigger workload
00:07:00for next week. If I were to do a little bit of hallway, then that's less that I have to do in
00:07:06the following weeks because we have massive hallways and stairwells. So I was just trying
00:07:12to make it easier for myself as well. Mimi's not going to finish painting this hallway by herself.
00:07:17I can try. So if you can help me out and help me sand, I can have everything painted
00:07:22and I have the patience for it. I just didn't think that that was going to benefit in us.
00:07:28Obviously it would, but not as much as having the rooms cleaned out for the boys.
00:07:33Ole, ole, ole, ole.
00:07:37Ole, ole, ole, ole.
00:07:41Tone them, mate.
00:07:43It's not that warm.
00:07:44It is. I'm smoking up here.
00:07:45Who are you trying to impress?
00:07:46You.
00:07:48Not impressed, mate.
00:07:52Tell you what, mate, you guys are in a really good spot.
00:07:55Fully plastered, fully dried, fully sanded, starting to paint.
00:08:00The office area, office in the bin. This week we're going to do a nice rumpus area and we're
00:08:07going to do a big games area and make it that really nice entertaining house.
00:08:10We felt that it was a better use of space,
00:08:13creating a bigger games area or a bigger entertaining area for kids.
00:08:18The boys' fully fledged games room will feature a timber balustrade, pool table,
00:08:23arcade games and out the back in the rumpus space,
00:08:26they'll feature Grafico wall art of the famous Phillip Island race track,
00:08:31along with a wall-mounted surfboard, leechwood coffee table and a couple of comfy couches.
00:08:37So what I love about here, you can be playing pool.
00:08:40You got the footy on down there.
00:08:42Yep.
00:08:43And then you got another TV up there for...
00:08:45You got both matches.
00:08:46Whatever, yeah, you got both codes going.
00:08:48Yep, yep.
00:08:49Rugby, footy.
00:08:50Arcade games.
00:08:51Arcade, what else?
00:08:52Cocktail cart.
00:08:53Oh yeah?
00:08:54There's not much study up here in the study then.
00:08:56This is definitely not the study.
00:08:58This is not the house to be studying in.
00:09:00It's the house of entertainment, mate.
00:09:01It's the fun house.
00:09:02Blind or curtain rather to pull across and close off the kids if you want to chuck them in there.
00:09:07We love entertaining.
00:09:09We love having fun.
00:09:10When you're coming down to a house like this in the island,
00:09:12you want a space where you can do that.
00:09:14We feel as though this is our space to shine.
00:09:17You know, styling might be a little bit easier in this room.
00:09:20So pretty pumped for it.
00:09:21This is our week, mate.
00:09:22We've already knocked off the challenge.
00:09:23Now we're just going to get a couple tens in the rumpus.
00:09:26Whether you're a big kid or a little kid, mate.
00:09:28Yeah.
00:09:29This is rumpus of the year.
00:09:30Rumpus of the year?
00:09:31They don't call me Rumpus Ricky for nothing, mate.
00:09:33Rumpus Ricky, yeah.
00:09:36All right, boys.
00:09:37When are you getting your shirt off, H?
00:09:39Ah, look, I'll keep mine on till dark, mate.
00:09:46Make-umers Maddie and Charlotte copped a blow earlier this week
00:09:50when they came in last in the domain buyers jury.
00:09:53Eight percent.
00:09:55Look, it's like not the best news.
00:09:58Not a great feeling.
00:09:59I feel like we're still finding our feet
00:10:01and we'll probably be finding our feet until the day we leave
00:10:04because we're just on like major catch up.
00:10:07So yeah, and coming into someone else's design,
00:10:09like it just feels like a whirlwind every single day.
00:10:12Aren't they hopeful that their bold move
00:10:15to change things up with the mezzanine floor plan will turn the tide?
00:10:19So this week we're changing our office into a rumpus
00:10:21because we don't see the value in a six by 3.5 meter office
00:10:25in a holiday home.
00:10:26We're still going to have a desk in there
00:10:28so it can function as an office if needed,
00:10:31but mainly more of a kid's rumpus area
00:10:34where it's cozy, relaxed, away from the parents.
00:10:38And then in the back area,
00:10:40which was actually allocated as the guest bedroom,
00:10:43we've done a little flipperoo,
00:10:44we're going to present like a sitting room.
00:10:47The sitting room will have a couple of comfy chairs
00:10:50and an extra TV.
00:10:51But the real magic sauce in the girls' design
00:10:54was converting this window into a door
00:10:57and making provisions for an external staircase
00:11:00that they'll install in backyard way,
00:11:02providing a separate private entrance to this area.
00:11:05Interesting.
00:11:06Interesting.
00:11:07Hopefully our game changer on auction.
00:11:12Plan today is pretty much just to prep both of these rooms
00:11:16and then we're going to spray tonight
00:11:18once all of the tradies have gone home,
00:11:19but we need a gap fill, doing skirtings,
00:11:22pick out some paint colours for our feature wall.
00:11:26I'm heading to Mitre 10 to get 50 shades of green for my wall.
00:11:34There's no time for rest on a Saturday.
00:11:36There will be an all-nighter.
00:11:37Today is a 24-hour workday.
00:11:40And you're lucky if you get a 10-minute nap.
00:11:50Meanwhile, Christian and Mimi are still planning to plan.
00:12:01Tonight I'm going to be sanding the hallways and painting it.
00:12:04Yeah, but Mimi, the thing is, on Monday and Tuesday,
00:12:07if our plasters are here and there's four of them,
00:12:10they'll take half an hour to sand that whole hallway.
00:12:12I'm telling you now, if I spend all my energy sanding in the hallway,
00:12:15we're just not going to get the rooms clean.
00:12:18And then Monday morning, the boys are going to rock up
00:12:19and then **** all over the place,
00:12:21and they're not going to be able to get started for next week,
00:12:22and it's just going to throw everything straight back out to this week.
00:12:26It takes a while to sand.
00:12:28It's time-consuming and it's energy-consuming.
00:12:30But like, that's going to kill us.
00:12:33We've got a whole month, Mimi.
00:12:35If we're landscaping right, and we're **** pushing burrows around,
00:12:38and we've got the night, we've got from...
00:12:41That's killing ourselves towards the end.
00:12:43...night, we can slowly try the painting.
00:12:46This is what we do.
00:12:47We focus on the one room that we're handing over this week, right?
00:12:50Make that our focus.
00:12:50Why are we working ahead on the hallway
00:12:52when we've got time to do that later on?
00:12:54No, I don't agree with that plan.
00:12:56Oh, well, unfortunately, if you really want to do the hallway,
00:12:59you shouldn't have slept for 24 hours yesterday.
00:13:03It wasn't ready yesterday.
00:13:04Yes, it was. The hallway was ready.
00:13:08The rest of this week has to be a stress-free week.
00:13:10We're not handing over a room.
00:13:11Let's just chill and just...
00:13:12Well, then let's just not do any room.
00:13:15What?
00:13:16Well, then let's just not do any room.
00:13:17Nancy, you always be unreasonable.
00:13:21You're unreasonable.
00:13:32You all right?
00:13:34What's up?
00:13:34She wants to start sanding the **** hallway.
00:13:36I was so stress-free this morning.
00:13:38She's making it so hard.
00:13:40Relax, relax. Yeah, take my phone.
00:13:42She **** hangs up on me as well.
00:13:47She slept for a whole day yesterday.
00:13:48I know, I know.
00:13:52I just need to get away from these cameras for 10 minutes.
00:14:04Welcome back to the block.
00:14:06It's been a big week and everyone is digging deep
00:14:09for the last push on this week's Rumpus
00:14:11and Office Spaces.
00:14:17Well, everyone except Christian and Mimi
00:14:19who seem to be stuck in a planning pattern.
00:14:26Come on, please.
00:14:29You're being really stubborn.
00:14:30It's just, it's not the right move
00:14:33to concentrate on the hallway.
00:14:38All right, well, do you want to go?
00:14:39No.
00:14:40What do you mean?
00:14:41All the hallways, the stairwell, the office.
00:14:44We don't have to do that next week.
00:14:46We can plot along during landscaping week.
00:14:49The goal today for me is finish the downstairs room.
00:14:53All right, the Spikies are almost done in there.
00:14:55The JB Hi-Fi guys are almost done in there.
00:14:57Our boys are almost done in there.
00:14:59Just concentrate on finishing that room.
00:15:01Like I said, the plaster is back Monday.
00:15:03They'll be sanding the whole hallway in two hours.
00:15:05All right, well, do you want to go?
00:15:07No.
00:15:08So what are you going to do?
00:15:09I don't see any.
00:15:24What are you doing?
00:15:24I'm about to start painting.
00:15:29After taking home 10,000 pounds,
00:15:32after taking home 10 grand in their hallway earlier this week,
00:15:37Kut and Grant are hoping to keep the winning streak going
00:15:39with their mezzanine rumpus and office spaces.
00:15:44They're the only team this week
00:15:45who plan to present their second room as an office only.
00:15:49In the office, we're going to have a desk,
00:15:52some shelving behind, a couple of artworks on the walls.
00:15:55Still continuing like a similar style
00:15:57to what we have in the rest of the house.
00:15:59Our plastering is definitely going to be the hero.
00:16:03Look up at our study from the ground floor.
00:16:05You see the curves go and then back up
00:16:08and it really frames that sunlight
00:16:11in the back corner in the afternoon.
00:16:12So it's really cool.
00:16:16Over at Ricky and Hayden's self-confessed fun house,
00:16:20their artwork has arrived.
00:16:25Grafico wall art is going up.
00:16:27How cool.
00:16:29And the icing on the fun cake.
00:16:34Oh, hello.
00:16:45What we learned from ours too during the week
00:16:47was that the average buyer in Phillip Island is 25 and 50.
00:16:51And I think anyone from 25 to 35 or 40
00:16:57loves playing pool, playing those retro sort of arcade games.
00:17:03Anyone who's 50 has got grandkids
00:17:05who love that stuff as well.
00:17:08It's actually got the old school coin slot in it
00:17:10so you can program it to a dollar return.
00:17:12Oh, that's great, isn't it?
00:17:13Yeah.
00:17:13So whoever buys this place for Airbnb
00:17:15they can make a bit of coin on the site.
00:17:17That's great.
00:17:19If you wanted to, yeah.
00:17:20There's no one that wouldn't want to rush to our house
00:17:23to have a heap of fun in that rumpus area.
00:17:26So I think whoever our buyer is
00:17:28they're going to be so many different points of fun
00:17:32that you could have.
00:17:33Beautiful.
00:17:34Make plenty of room.
00:17:36Yeah, because your cue goes above the balustrade anyway.
00:17:39Yeah.
00:17:42Yeah.
00:17:44Perfect.
00:17:44Yeah, it works.
00:17:47Meanwhile, up at house five,
00:17:49Christian and Mimi have finally landed on a plan.
00:17:54Mimi is sanding this week's pool rooms
00:17:57and Christian has started clearing out next week's spaces
00:18:00ready for plastering first thing Monday.
00:18:03But it seems the effort it took to get to this point
00:18:06has taken its toll on Christian.
00:18:09How are you feeling, Christian?
00:18:10I'll chat to you later if that's all right.
00:18:12I'm just not really keen for a chat right now.
00:18:17How's he going?
00:18:19He's done.
00:18:25I think the thing is, like, the domain challenge
00:18:27feels like an ending.
00:18:30Do you know what I mean?
00:18:30Like, it's like, look, I'm showing off my home
00:18:33and then, like, once it's done, it's like,
00:18:35wait, we still have so much to do.
00:18:38So we just need that second win.
00:18:39It hasn't come yet.
00:18:41I reckon it'll come next week, which is fine.
00:18:45I don't want to give up just yet.
00:18:48Got a house to finish, you know?
00:18:50Like, everyone loves our house so much
00:18:51and I want to finish it off before the house finishes me off.
00:18:58I feel like it's finished, Christian.
00:19:00I feel like the house is finished, Christian.
00:19:06There's lots going on and there's lots to do.
00:19:15I've just never felt this much pressure in my whole life.
00:19:18Where are you, mate?
00:19:24What's wrong, mate?
00:19:25You all right?
00:19:26I just can't do it anymore.
00:19:27The block?
00:19:29They're killing me.
00:19:30Who?
00:19:32Just everything.
00:19:34You're almost there, mate.
00:19:35Think about it.
00:19:36You're actually almost there.
00:19:38After this week, it's four short weeks
00:19:41that are going to go so quick.
00:19:42Like, I've been where you are, it's not easy.
00:19:45But just think about why you came here.
00:19:48Yeah.
00:19:49Think about why.
00:19:50What made you want to come to the block?
00:19:52Oh, just for a challenge, life experience.
00:19:55Life-changing, potentially money.
00:19:57Yeah.
00:19:58And what did you tell them the other day?
00:20:01Yeah.
00:20:01Who likes this house?
00:20:02Yeah, I know.
00:20:05It's just so overwhelming to...
00:20:07It is.
00:20:08No one's saying it isn't, mate.
00:20:10It's bloody hard.
00:20:12I didn't think it was going to be this hard.
00:20:14All right.
00:20:15Chin up, mate.
00:20:16You're almost there.
00:20:17You're almost there.
00:20:19When I walked in there and just spoke to Christian,
00:20:20you can see how exhausted he is.
00:20:21He's just showing that.
00:20:23So I just gave him a bit of a hug.
00:20:24I said, look, mate, you can pull yourself out of this.
00:20:26There's only four short weeks
00:20:28and you're a big chance of winning the block.
00:20:29The two biggest buyers in the show want to buy your house.
00:20:33That's what they said on Thursday night.
00:20:35So he's just got to find a way the next few weeks
00:20:37to pick himself up and finish off strong.
00:20:47I've got to, sweet love.
00:20:51Brad's going to attempt to spray.
00:20:53So we've got everything taped.
00:20:54Everything's sanded.
00:20:56Have you ever done this before?
00:20:58No.
00:20:59Are you terrified?
00:21:01No.
00:21:01He looked like the sexiest man alive.
00:21:04He was up there like a little superhero
00:21:06spraying those walls down on the scaffold.
00:21:11Pump it up, mate.
00:21:12The whole way, turn it up.
00:21:13I loved it.
00:21:14I've never felt like a bigger idiot listening to you
00:21:17cackle from a distance and point and laugh.
00:21:25There is so much to do.
00:21:26We've got to paint the entire rumpus room.
00:21:29And we have this huge sitting room,
00:21:34five meter ceilings.
00:21:35Yoo-hoo.
00:21:36And because we've got a mezzanine
00:21:38that's open to the whole downstairs area.
00:21:40We can't just spray.
00:21:41You can't just spray,
00:21:41because otherwise it would destroy everything.
00:21:43Otherwise it would destroy everything else.
00:21:45That's great.
00:21:46Thank you forever.
00:21:48Christian needs to go to bed early.
00:21:50He's a broken man.
00:21:51I am a broken man.
00:21:56I'm also like the worst comforter.
00:22:02I can't do it.
00:22:03I went back and had a look at your application,
00:22:05your initial application today.
00:22:07And a lot of the stuff you've been talking about today
00:22:10is all stuff that you know.
00:22:13How do you and your partner respond
00:22:14when things don't go your way?
00:22:16Mimi says, honestly, I hate when things don't go to plan.
00:22:19I have a fear of the unknown.
00:22:20So if something doesn't go my way,
00:22:21I'll most likely throw a tantrum
00:22:23or take it out on Christian.
00:22:25Did I actually write that?
00:22:27Is that true?
00:22:28It is true.
00:22:29No, that's true.
00:22:30All communication goes out the window,
00:22:32because I don't think straight.
00:22:33And I just say things.
00:22:35That's not who Mimi is though.
00:22:36Like in everyday life, this wouldn't happen.
00:22:39But this is just isn't.
00:22:42Like if I was struggling at home,
00:22:43I'd know for a fact that Mimi would say what's wrong.
00:22:46Or let's talk through it.
00:22:47You know what I mean?
00:22:48It's just, yeah.
00:22:50Do you want to read the top one?
00:23:03I am a very difficult and complex person.
00:23:05So I can honestly say that me as a partner
00:23:08is negative on Christian
00:23:10as much as he'll somewhat disagree
00:23:12because he's too nice.
00:23:13If anything, he's enabled my bad behavior
00:23:16by always letting me have my way.
00:23:19When the good times are rolling,
00:23:20I think us and the world matters.
00:23:21As long as we have each other, everything is perfect.
00:23:27We always have something planned.
00:23:28So we have something to look forward to.
00:23:29And when we are able to get away,
00:23:30that's when we are the best versions of ourselves.
00:23:35Maybe we need to get away for a bit.
00:23:37You know each other pretty well.
00:23:40That was just how we were.
00:23:42And I feel like we've lost that
00:23:43because of how hard this has been.
00:23:46Which is not fair on either of us.
00:23:48We haven't lost her.
00:23:49It's just not present at this point in time.
00:23:55Yeah.
00:24:07I'm tired.
00:24:17We've got quite a bit to do.
00:24:19Everything.
00:24:20Yeah.
00:24:21Let's just hope we finish.
00:24:25How are you, Christian?
00:24:27Ah, f***ing sick.
00:24:34What goodies you got in there?
00:24:36Just a 500 kilo bed to take upstairs.
00:24:39It's less than 30 minutes till tools down.
00:24:41And houses two, three, four and five
00:24:44are helping each other to get their furniture upstairs.
00:24:47While the sisters in house one battle it out on their own.
00:24:59All right, that's enough.
00:25:06Tools down quick.
00:25:09My nail came off.
00:25:11Watch your fingers, watch your fingers.
00:25:32Tools down.
00:25:35Cheers.
00:25:41Celebration.
00:25:45Now I can go to sleep.
00:25:48Hallelujah.
00:25:49Tools down, queues up.
00:25:57How are you?
00:25:57Hello.
00:25:58Good evening.
00:26:00Scotty.
00:26:01G'day, boys.
00:26:01Scotty.
00:26:02G'day, mate.
00:26:03G'day.
00:26:03How are you?
00:26:04G'day.
00:26:05Hello.
00:26:07Can he come?
00:26:08Yes.
00:26:10Boys, keeping the $50,000 vibe going, are we?
00:26:13Why not, mate?
00:26:14We actually haven't taken them off yet, Scotty.
00:26:16Have you?
00:26:16Oh, that's terrific.
00:26:17You want to keep that buyer's jury vibe happening?
00:26:20It was a great day, wasn't it?
00:26:21It was fantastic, mate.
00:26:22One not to forget.
00:26:24Well, we did have a very challenging week this week, didn't we?
00:26:27I know that this thing is relentless.
00:26:29One more push this week coming up
00:26:31and the inside of your homes are finished.
00:26:34They're done.
00:26:35And then you're going to be outside in the sunshine
00:26:37with your landscapers having a wonderful time out in the gardens.
00:26:42The end is near.
00:26:43I'm just saying the $10,000 from Ford wouldn't go astray
00:26:47at this point of the competition.
00:26:49So let's find out who that's going to be, shall we?
00:27:05Oh.
00:27:10House one, Maddie and Charlotte.
00:27:17The week of tears.
00:27:20We'll have like a little staircase here.
00:27:22And can you still access this from the main house?
00:27:26So there'll be a door there that has a lock on it.
00:27:27A lockable door.
00:27:28Yeah.
00:27:29That is part of the bigger plan to have a guest retreat
00:27:33and an external exit.
00:27:36In the office space, which is now our rumpus,
00:27:39it will just be, yeah, cozy couches,
00:27:42some beautiful custom cabinetry.
00:27:45Just a very versatile area.
00:27:48The boys are cladding that window.
00:27:50That's meant to be a door.
00:27:52And then Aiden apparently doesn't know about it.
00:27:55For us to change that to a door, I have to pull cladding off the wall.
00:27:58No, if there's no external access,
00:27:59there's no point doing anything that we're doing up there.
00:28:01We may as well just scrap the whole thing.
00:28:03Um, obviously, there's been a bit of confusion.
00:28:06Yeah.
00:28:07With stairs, we think we can make work.
00:28:10Thankfully, Aiden and the team were very gracious.
00:28:14And yeah, it got approved.
00:28:18The domain challenge.
00:28:20We spoke to so many people,
00:28:21and so many people had great things to say about the house.
00:28:24What they're going to do with the upstairs area,
00:28:26that could be a bit of a game changer for them as well.
00:28:30Is this your work from home space?
00:28:31Not really.
00:28:33We just didn't think that it was super valuable for a holiday house
00:28:37to have an office space of this size.
00:28:39And we've actually turned that space into a guest retreat.
00:28:42We want to, on auction day, have a reason that a buyer would go,
00:28:46oh, like their house is different.
00:28:48And not just aesthetically, because aesthetics can be changed.
00:28:51This stuff kind of like structural stuff that does set you apart.
00:29:01The chill, cosy, calm feeling.
00:29:12I feel like it kind of ties into the rest of the house.
00:29:14I love Joel Elliot's cabinets with the dowel feature wall.
00:29:18And then like the custom made desk is very beautiful.
00:29:22Walking up the stairs, Shaina said...
00:29:29Wowee.
00:29:32Wow, wow.
00:29:34What a room.
00:29:36The natural light, being able to look at this skylight the moment you walk in,
00:29:40it doesn't feel hemmed in.
00:29:42Even though it's got a lower ceiling than what we're used to downstairs,
00:29:46because we can see the sky, it actually feels very light and airy.
00:29:50You have copped a bit of flack in the past few weeks for your styling,
00:29:54from style queen Shaina Blais.
00:29:57But she thinks this week you really got it right.
00:30:00The girls have listened to some of the styling tips and kept it a lot simpler.
00:30:04The artwork choices, like all the tones, it's in the cushions,
00:30:08it's in the throw, it's even in the timber.
00:30:10It feels more cosy, it feels more intimate.
00:30:14How do you make it feel so cosy when it's never been lived in?
00:30:17I think that the girls have nailed it.
00:30:20That's good.
00:30:21Darren also had a big smile on his face.
00:30:24The fact that they had this, you know,
00:30:27The fact that they had this custom made, that table custom made,
00:30:32it shows that Maddie and Charlotte really care
00:30:34about putting effort and detail into the spaces.
00:30:37And you know what?
00:30:40This is the very first time someone finally has the lighting plan right.
00:30:45I thought you got a swear then.
00:30:49They've only got sconces, but they're all uplighting sconces,
00:30:54and then they've got the LEDs under there.
00:30:56This is an intimate space, it's not meant to be blaring.
00:31:00Marty noted that a mezzanine isn't an easy space to design,
00:31:04but he feels like you may have got this just right.
00:31:08And this balustrading as well being solid,
00:31:11that's a really smart decision because from downstairs,
00:31:14if this is a bit of a kid's rumpus area, it could be a little bit messy.
00:31:17Looking up and seeing the back of the furniture might not be the best visual.
00:31:22Darren agrees.
00:31:23He thinks you will hear the TV from down there.
00:31:26But that's probably better than entertaining
00:31:29and not knowing what your kids are doing.
00:31:31It's when their kids are quiet that you have to be worried, right?
00:31:34Yeah.
00:31:35This is one of the last rooms that a buyer will see.
00:31:37The fact that it is in line with everything that they're seeing downstairs
00:31:41is a massive bonus.
00:31:4210 out of 10 buyers will walk into this area and go,
00:31:47I like it.
00:31:48Execution is generally very good in this room,
00:31:51except for a couple of paint marks.
00:31:53As this will be a holiday place,
00:31:55I can't imagine one person coming in and changing a thing.
00:31:59Neither.
00:31:59And that's a big, big win.
00:32:03The judges then headed into the second space you delivered this week.
00:32:17Ah, a little retreat.
00:32:21Cute as a butt.
00:32:31We have a note here.
00:32:32Morning judges.
00:32:33You're probably wondering why you've walked through an unfinished,
00:32:36very messy room to a sitting room
00:32:38where you've walked into a part space of our guest retreat.
00:32:43This is when they learned that you were going to deliver a separate external access
00:32:48to a living space, bathroom and bedroom.
00:32:52So they must be putting a door in here.
00:32:56Yes.
00:32:57So you could separately house people in here in privacy.
00:33:03The judges think from a buyer's perspective,
00:33:05this is a massive selling feature.
00:33:09These guys actually may have put themselves ahead of the pack.
00:33:12If this was, say, an Airbnb,
00:33:14you can separate the actual use of the dwelling.
00:33:18So if this was accessed and it had its own key code,
00:33:21that whole house could be locked off.
00:33:23Yep.
00:33:23Yeah.
00:33:24And this could just be something that, again, keeps those bills paid.
00:33:26So from an investment point of view,
00:33:29it makes this house a dual income property.
00:33:34Or you have the people that are selling up in Melbourne
00:33:37come down here to retire to
00:33:40and have this as a nice tidy little income while they live here.
00:33:43Or this is where the grandparents stay,
00:33:45or this is where the au pair lives.
00:33:47It's so multi-generational, multi-faceted, multi-income generating.
00:33:52They have opened up a massive amount of possibilities
00:33:56by changing that window to a door.
00:33:58It's genius.
00:34:00It's a game changer.
00:34:03The winner in grey screen.
00:34:05Oh, yeah.
00:34:05Tessa Luke.
00:34:08When they did the separate part there,
00:34:10they put a spiral staircase in their atrium
00:34:14that could have separate access from the main house.
00:34:19And who won?
00:34:20Tessa Luke.
00:34:21Which this would just be a very simple spiral staircase down into the garden area.
00:34:27Shona was really liking the addition of colour in this room.
00:34:30That green, we haven't seen them use colour at all,
00:34:33but I feel like that's just a little nod to Jesse and Paige.
00:34:36We hear before.
00:34:37Love it.
00:34:37Because they had that green in their bedrooms downstairs.
00:34:40Bravo, girls.
00:34:41Once again, Maddy and Charlotte,
00:34:43you have set a very high bar for the rest of the houses.
00:34:46That's it.
00:34:47Well done.
00:34:51The judges said it was a game changer having the guest retreat.
00:34:54And this is what we've been saying since day dot.
00:35:03It's time for you to decide which contestants you think
00:35:06have created this week's winning room.
00:35:09All you have to do is head to the block website now
00:35:11to cast your vote.
00:35:12And don't miss the results a little later in the show.
00:35:25House two, Courtney and Grumpy.
00:35:32Definitely harder than any other week we've done on the block for sure.
00:35:37Upstairs, we wanted to create a second main bedroom area
00:35:41with an en-suite.
00:35:42So to get that larger en-suite, we've taken a bit from the office.
00:35:47So what do you think?
00:35:48The green and white stripe.
00:35:49Bonus points for you as well.
00:35:52That would come in handy.
00:35:54That will come in handy.
00:35:55Yeah.
00:35:55Yeah, we need that penguin.
00:35:58So this week we have the office space
00:36:01and then also the rumpus room.
00:36:06Curves looking nice.
00:36:08Curves are what makes us different, I feel.
00:36:10And we've got quite a unique feature in the plaster
00:36:13that complements the kitchen curve.
00:36:15So we're trying to tie it all in.
00:36:18So we also had to finish hallways.
00:36:20I thought the hallway that was the best resolved was house number two.
00:36:30So this would be perfect.
00:36:31Yeah, and this is the study.
00:36:32Actually, I didn't show you this one.
00:36:34So the desk also, freedom.
00:36:37Two of the chairs and then like a little rug opposite.
00:36:39Yeah.
00:36:40How many stars like you?
00:36:49I'm really proud of the rooms.
00:36:50I hope they appreciate the curves and then the artwork
00:36:54and the furniture and how it's all put together.
00:37:02Business center.
00:37:10I feel like I've walked into a possible therapy session.
00:37:22Hasn't it?
00:37:23There was something about the layout of the room
00:37:25with the two chairs facing the desk.
00:37:28Marty's comment was that this is a holiday home
00:37:31and this is valuable real estate.
00:37:34He wasn't convinced this was the best use of it.
00:37:38They put themselves in a bit of a situation.
00:37:40They checkmated themselves by taking this valuable real estate
00:37:44and adding it to that bathroom.
00:37:46So they've taken space out of a second living room.
00:37:50So I think that fundamentally doing that
00:37:53is a massive error from a real estate perspective.
00:37:55Like Shona noted, as always with house two,
00:37:58that the execution is superb.
00:38:02Like the curve on the entry when you walk in in the arch,
00:38:06the quality of those setting shelves with the LED lights.
00:38:10Look at the curve along that wall back into the wall here.
00:38:13You can't deny the colors, the execution, the architectural details.
00:38:18But I don't feel good in here.
00:38:20The balustrade is high in this room and it was in house one.
00:38:25This roofline is quite low.
00:38:28So it feels caged in, feels boomy.
00:38:32And if you're going to run an office here,
00:38:34you're going to hit everything over there
00:38:36because this ceiling is so close here,
00:38:39it will actually boom and go down.
00:38:41So your conversation will be heard at the lounge room.
00:38:45Darren agrees.
00:38:46He thinks that if you need an office space in a holiday home,
00:38:50it's because you need privacy away from your children and guests.
00:38:53And if you've got to take a board call
00:38:55or you've got to take a business meeting,
00:38:57then you actually want to be contained somewhere soundproof.
00:39:01It's the loudest room in the house
00:39:03and it's been set up to be the most private and quiet room of the house.
00:39:07This was a big one.
00:39:12The judges' moods certainly improved moving into the lounge room area.
00:39:33Now this is nice.
00:39:39It's a lovely big rumpus.
00:39:41This is cosy.
00:39:43Darren praised your fantastic art choices.
00:39:47Lovely furniture, beautiful colour scheme.
00:39:51It's interesting, definitely fits the rest of the house.
00:39:54Like decision after decision after decision here.
00:39:56Great.
00:39:57We have style in space.
00:40:00Marty said it will shoot the best.
00:40:02It's the most Instagrammable.
00:40:03Bingo.
00:40:04This will shoot better than house one.
00:40:07Beyond.
00:40:08But it won't inspect better than house one
00:40:11and it comes down to the inspection.
00:40:14Marty had always thought you were planning
00:40:16a second main bedroom suite for this area
00:40:20since you extended the bathroom a few weeks ago.
00:40:23This is a thousand square metre home
00:40:25which effectively has one main wing.
00:40:29Categorically, that's an issue from a real estate perspective.
00:40:31And we knew that if I've got a bathroom of that size
00:40:36I actually want a king bed.
00:40:38I want a king bed.
00:40:39Bingo.
00:40:40And the only place to put a robe in there is actually in that corner
00:40:43which means then you've got enough wall here for a king size bed
00:40:46but you don't have enough space.
00:40:48The judges all wondered if you were to put some joinery in this space
00:40:51for wardrobe storage you could still make this area
00:40:54into a private second main bedroom suite
00:40:57and have a king size bed in the bedroom.
00:41:00This comes down to on suite week up here
00:41:03we knew the planning was either going to work for them
00:41:05or bite them in the behind
00:41:07and it's definitely bitten them in the behind.
00:41:10Okay, that's it.
00:41:11Court in ground.
00:41:14Yeah, I'm jazzy so it felt like a bit of like a therapy,
00:41:17therapist room.
00:41:18I just don't understand what else we're doing with that study space
00:41:21if we're not doing a, you know, a work from home space.
00:41:29Welcome back to my HQ at Phillip Island.
00:41:33We've heard the judges feedback for houses one and two.
00:41:36Now the boys in house three are up next.
00:41:40Okay boys, burning successful week for you two fellas.
00:41:43Keep it coming please mate.
00:41:48Everything that we've been putting in,
00:41:50pouring in our hearts and souls and we haven't won a room yet.
00:41:55The office area, office in the bin.
00:41:59This week we're going to do a nice rumpus area
00:42:02and we're going to do a big games area
00:42:03and make it that really nice entertaining house.
00:42:07I'm super excited about the racetrack being on the wall.
00:42:10Game O's just come back with some new options for Grafico
00:42:12up with Phillip Island racetrack on it.
00:42:15Home Pro DIY blinds team coming in.
00:42:18Run the curtain to the edge of the window,
00:42:19close off that space.
00:42:22Done.
00:42:22Cool.
00:42:23Boom.
00:42:27The winners are house number three.
00:42:32There it is, 50 G's.
00:42:36Yeah beauty and then rumpus.
00:42:37Rumpus there and it's going to have a nice sofa bed
00:42:40so you can sleep someone in there
00:42:41but it's going to have a nice sheer that closes it off
00:42:43and turns it into a fifth bedroom.
00:42:46Regarding our surfboard,
00:42:47we got some feedback from Darren
00:42:49that the orange isn't his favourite colour.
00:42:53Fourth for me is the orange.
00:42:56So reached out to Kirsty from Clanko.
00:42:59She could kindly assist us with painting a surfboard
00:43:02keeping that beach coastal theme going.
00:43:06That's me, yeah.
00:43:07That was the end of just one of the craziest weeks of our lives.
00:43:11I think it's our best run of the day.
00:43:23We've nailed the finish.
00:43:28We really enjoyed stalling it.
00:43:31Yeah it looks like someone's in the middle of a Scrabble game.
00:43:37Yeah we're excited.
00:43:38We're hoping we can get a win.
00:43:41Oh what a beautiful curtain.
00:43:44Well if that doesn't say Phillip Island
00:43:46then I don't know what does.
00:43:48Look at that.
00:43:49It literally says Phillip Island.
00:43:52It does.
00:43:53It does.
00:43:55That's so cool.
00:43:56The Grafico looks unreal in here.
00:43:59It's beautifully designed.
00:44:01I love the track reference.
00:44:03But back to the curtain for a moment.
00:44:05Very unique.
00:44:05The weight of this gives it an acoustic quality as well
00:44:08so you can actually shut it out
00:44:10without having to do a physical door.
00:44:11So pretty clever.
00:44:13They quickly headed in and plonked themselves on the lounge.
00:44:18Marty, Darren, Shaina.
00:44:20There you go.
00:44:21And Ricky Hayden, Rumpus.
00:44:2310, 10, 10.
00:44:23Total of 30.
00:44:24Okay well that's wishful thinking boys.
00:44:29Marty likes this for the brochure.
00:44:31So having the sofa bed in this room means that they can actually sleep
00:44:3410 guests as opposed to the others which would sleep eight.
00:44:37So again it's leaning towards that investment piece
00:44:40for the end user of this property.
00:44:43This house may not be as high-end
00:44:45but it might just return a higher yield for an investor.
00:44:49So across the board these houses all stack up in valuation fairly evenly.
00:44:53Like you've got four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two living spaces.
00:44:56But in a real estate sales competition
00:44:59there is definitely going to be a market and a buyer
00:45:01who wants this relaxed, less uptight style of hotel.
00:45:07I'm personally not aesthetically excited by this room.
00:45:11Well that feels like an outdoor couch.
00:45:13This feels like an indoor couch.
00:45:14Like outdoor furniture.
00:45:15I'm looking back at that coffee table and it feels a bit Gilligan's Island
00:45:19because it's a bit rustic.
00:45:21Hopefully Mr and Mrs Howell.
00:45:23Do you know Gilligan's Island?
00:45:24Never heard of them mate.
00:45:25Never heard of them.
00:45:26What's a little bit?
00:45:27Well the folks at home will get Mr and Mrs Howell.
00:45:29They were the rich couple.
00:45:30Take a word for it mate.
00:45:31No worries.
00:45:33But isn't that the boys?
00:45:36Well we said it after that kitchen week.
00:45:38It's the most Phillip Island house.
00:45:40You brought it in with the palms on the walls in the bedroom saying
00:45:43own it boys, run with it.
00:45:45Just use your landscape to your advantage and make people feel like they're on holiday.
00:45:50It was probably the best advice that they were given and they've run with it.
00:45:54But what's funny about that is that when we compare it to how I was feeling in house two
00:45:59which aesthetically I can't knock but I'm far more comfortable here.
00:46:03I'm a little bit more relaxed.
00:46:05I feel like I'm away.
00:46:06Oh yeah, you're going to take your jacket off in a second.
00:46:08Oh don't get too excited Dads.
00:46:11They sure got the vibe you're going for once they went back through the curtain
00:46:15and found a full-blown games arcade.
00:46:35Oh my god.
00:46:41This is so smart.
00:46:42Entertainment, yeah.
00:46:44This is what you call a leg of your own.
00:46:47Yeah.
00:46:47This is genius.
00:46:52They had me at Street Fighter too.
00:46:54The fact you've got Street Fighter, you've got Pac-Man, you've got Phillip Island on the walls.
00:46:59I reckon people would buy this for their family and say bring all your friends.
00:47:03The boys have been so smart and the agent representing this would be sitting back
00:47:09rubbing their hands together going we have something that none of the others have
00:47:14which is the fun factor.
00:47:17This is the fun house.
00:47:18This is the fun factory.
00:47:20This is the one that I believe people will come and visit and it will be their kids
00:47:25that say Mum, Dad you need to get this one.
00:47:28This is the one.
00:47:29Darren thinks it's not Instagrammable but it's super rentable.
00:47:33It's not the thing where you come and say come and see my frou-frou holiday house.
00:47:38I love it.
00:47:38No.
00:47:39This is like bring your kids, bring your grandkids.
00:47:42It will absolutely rent its socks off and it's a destination.
00:47:47Well Bar Crusher was a huge hit on Thursday night at the Domain event.
00:47:52Shona thinks this room goes perfectly with the boats.
00:47:55And the thing is this is a competition about design,
00:47:59real estate and how people are going to live in it when they buy it
00:48:04and function always goes over form.
00:48:07Marty really loved this space and thinks it has the all-important emotional connection.
00:48:14I never thought that this would be a house that I would actually buy
00:48:17and from walking into this space now it's pulling on my heartstrings as a kid.
00:48:23It's pulling on my memories that I shared with my mum and dad,
00:48:27particularly playing pool and street fighter with my brother.
00:48:30This is actually the most emotional I've felt in any of these rooms judging.
00:48:35I think they fit it out of the ballpark.
00:48:38Marty said now I want it for my family.
00:48:43I want to go and play the street fighter too.
00:48:44Oh I'll challenge you.
00:48:45Yes.
00:48:46Let's do it.
00:48:46Yes.
00:48:47No, it's not street fighter.
00:48:52Marty hogged it.
00:48:55Push.
00:48:57All right, come on.
00:48:58House four.
00:48:58All right.
00:48:59Let's go.
00:48:59I'm coming back here after that.
00:49:02Full show.
00:49:03That's it.
00:49:04Good job, boys.
00:49:05Thanks, mate.
00:49:10Even Marty Fox would buy it for his family.
00:49:12So we're putting together the perfect holiday home.
00:49:16I think it's the most marketable, the most suitable for anyone really.
00:49:20So I think we're going to have a number amount of buyers
00:49:21that are going to be interested in this property come auction day.
00:49:35Okay, Kylie and Brett, you were the clear winners last week.
00:49:38In the living and dining spaces.
00:49:40Let's see how you go this week.
00:49:46This week was jam-packed.
00:49:49We had an office rumpus slash another living space.
00:49:53Looking over the grand view of the living, dining, kitchen area.
00:49:58I thought of the idea of a whole wall of photos in black frames.
00:50:04We've got Scottie and Chelle.
00:50:06There's a few little nods in there.
00:50:10Domain inspection with the buyer's jury.
00:50:13Welcome house four.
00:50:14Nice to meet you.
00:50:15We had a lot of really positive feedback.
00:50:18So fabulous.
00:50:19You're very, very classy.
00:50:23What did you decide to do with the balustrade?
00:50:25Because I know you were considering glass.
00:50:26We're doing glass.
00:50:26You're doing glass?
00:50:27I saw the glass walking in.
00:50:28Yeah, we are doing glass.
00:50:30But another thing we're actually doing is we're doing dark shears all the way across.
00:50:34So if there is a separate living family up there,
00:50:37they can actually be closed off and have a little bit of privacy.
00:50:39We've got like the stone people coming in to do the office desk.
00:50:46So when you're first walking up the stairs, you'll be met by a desk.
00:50:49There's still so many people working from home.
00:50:51And if you've got the opportunity to go on holiday,
00:50:54but also do a little bit of work, get the best of both worlds.
00:50:59I still can't really work out what the space is.
00:51:01Just throw it all in and hope for the best.
00:51:10I'm most proud of the leather couch.
00:51:18Oh, are you?
00:51:19The picture wall.
00:51:22I love that you can use it as a separate space because you can close your curtains.
00:51:26And the fact that you can sit there and enjoy a little bit of time out,
00:51:30but looking over what is happening in the dining and the kitchen.
00:51:37Coffee machine.
00:51:39I'm really confused.
00:51:51I don't understand why there is a couch up against a glass balustrade.
00:51:58Oh, no, wait, wait, wait.
00:51:59This will make more sense of it.
00:52:00Oh, yeah.
00:52:06Why am I sitting 30 centimetres off a glass balustrade?
00:52:10Looking over the living area.
00:52:14Geron thinks...
00:52:16They've dropped the ball, man.
00:52:17Dropped it massively.
00:52:19It looks like they came in and dropped the couch.
00:52:22Can you imagine how confused a buyer is going to go?
00:52:25Like, why am I here?
00:52:26Why do I have theatre curtains?
00:52:28Do the kids come up and do TikTok and everyone has to watch or something?
00:52:31So we close the curtains.
00:52:32OK, ready.
00:52:34And how echoey is this?
00:52:36This is the echoey-est room we've been in.
00:52:38The fact down there was a 10, undeniably.
00:52:41Like, it is elegant, sophisticated, thought about, planned.
00:52:46This is...
00:52:47Weird.
00:52:48I'm saying ridiculous.
00:52:50This is ridiculous.
00:52:51What I want to say, I don't think I can say on the block.
00:52:57Shona was wondering why the desk was facing a blank wall.
00:53:00It just seemed like not enough thought had been put into the layout.
00:53:04If I'm coming to Phillip Island, I'm going to do a little bit of work
00:53:07and check my laptop.
00:53:09This is exactly where I want to look.
00:53:11Darren was seeing effort in this room,
00:53:13but he wasn't really seeing much in the way of functionality.
00:53:18This is functionally useless.
00:53:21It feels like, honestly, where that couch is,
00:53:23it feels like it's a peep show.
00:53:25With these curtains there,
00:53:26you're sitting right up against the balustrade,
00:53:28peeping on the people down there.
00:53:29There's the use of that word.
00:53:31Now I can't unsee the peep show.
00:53:35It's a peep show.
00:53:36It's weird, man.
00:53:37It's just as weird over there as well.
00:53:39Wait, wait, wait till you see what I'm looking at.
00:53:41Let's go, because this does not make sense one little bit.
00:53:44Oh, I'm going to have to scrub.
00:53:45Look at this.
00:53:46Even the cushions have got the peep nature to it.
00:53:51Outrageous.
00:53:51Oh, God.
00:54:08Oh, wow.
00:54:08I don't get this.
00:54:13From a couple that understood scale,
00:54:16this is blowing my mind.
00:54:18And the fact that everything is eye level,
00:54:21a quarter of this raking.
00:54:23And what is it about this space
00:54:25that they're bringing to light how grand it is?
00:54:27This is showing, what do you do with all this space?
00:54:30I have no idea.
00:54:31This is what, like three and a half by eight meters or something.
00:54:35And you've got like 16 square meters here of just useless.
00:54:46Well, there you go.
00:54:46Over in the corner, they've just left their s*** there.
00:54:51It really is, Daz.
00:54:52It's honestly, you couldn't have explained it any better.
00:54:55With what you have presented, there's no ambience or soul.
00:54:5910 out of 10 for creating the most uncomfortable room
00:55:02we've seen this season.
00:55:07Ouch, that's bad.
00:55:10Marty couldn't understand.
00:55:12When did they become so white in their palette?
00:55:15Where's the drama?
00:55:17When you told them the black wasn't good.
00:55:19Yeah, but that was also in week one.
00:55:23I gave them a 10 last week.
00:55:25Yeah.
00:55:25This just is not them.
00:55:26It's not because of budget, it can't be.
00:55:28They won 20 grand last week, plus another 10.
00:55:31All Shona could say is that she loves the flooring.
00:55:37This is so disappointing at this stage of the game,
00:55:39to be feeling like this.
00:55:40But to go from top of the mountain to the bottom of the barrel,
00:55:43within seven days, shocker.
00:55:45Dumb.
00:55:47Okay, tough one.
00:55:47That's it, Coenbrad, that's it.
00:55:57The feedback was savage.
00:56:00I remember Scotty saying, like, oh, that's harsh.
00:56:04But I don't know if it was.
00:56:14It's office and rumpus week,
00:56:15and it's time for Christian and Mimi in house five
00:56:18to hear the judges' feedback.
00:56:20Okay, house five.
00:56:23Christian and Mimi.
00:56:24Probably won't be scoring so highly with our judges
00:56:27after delivering just one of your two spaces this week.
00:56:34This week was the worst week of Christian's life.
00:56:39Our office and rumpus are on separate levels of the house.
00:56:42We decided to move the rumpus downstairs,
00:56:45where the guest bedroom was.
00:56:46And we're making that into like a little pool room retreat area,
00:56:49because now it's got pool access.
00:56:51Upstairs, we have a massive office space.
00:56:54We felt that it was unnecessary, so we've done a bedroom.
00:56:59Dan came and said, look, you guys have to shut your side down.
00:57:02It's too messy.
00:57:03And that's why I took it a bit hard.
00:57:07Is he crying?
00:57:08I find it hard to comfort.
00:57:13How embarrassing is he?
00:57:15I don't like how I react to it.
00:57:20We will not be revealing a complete hallway.
00:57:23There's just too much to do.
00:57:25Our hallway's massive.
00:57:30The domain challenge.
00:57:31A little bit of heartbreak to add to our already terrible week.
00:57:34We came short by one boat.
00:57:39You changed this around, didn't you?
00:57:40This was meant to be a bedroom.
00:57:41Yes.
00:57:41And you decided this is your rumpus because you wanted to access the pool.
00:57:44Correct.
00:57:45If you're in the pool and you need to go to the toilet,
00:57:47you can just come straight into this room.
00:57:48Yeah, so we're just going to have like a couch.
00:57:50We're just going to double up as a sofa.
00:57:52We're going to have a TV,
00:57:54maybe like a, you know, PlayStation or a Nintendo or something for the kids.
00:57:57Oh, Dan, I'm thinking about pulling the pin on the upstairs room
00:58:01because I just don't think we're going to get it done.
00:58:04So is that, so you want to keep the reveal downstairs?
00:58:07Yeah.
00:58:07And not reveal upstairs?
00:58:09Yeah.
00:58:11Downstairs in our pool room, the portatoon, the feature's beautiful.
00:58:14But now handing over an incomplete room,
00:58:17the downs are just going down, down, down.
00:58:19So we've just got to figure out a way to go back up.
00:58:29We didn't finish our office space.
00:58:32Can you just judge the downstairs room and forget about the upstairs room?
00:58:39All right.
00:58:49Well, obviously, it's been a tough week because we're in one of two spaces
00:58:55and the other space, there's nothing to judge.
00:58:58And walking into the finished space today,
00:59:01the judges immediately knew it was a room that was originally supposed to be a bedroom.
00:59:07So they've actually swapped that rumpus for this.
00:59:12But this room is closest to the pool.
00:59:15So they're obviously saying, well, we want to have a
00:59:18downstairs living close to the pool that has a bathroom attached
00:59:22in case people want to use it.
00:59:24Marty, I don't know if you know real estate or not, but...
00:59:28Have you ever been to a display suite?
00:59:31I'm standing in one.
00:59:33Yes, you are.
00:59:33I'm genuinely standing in a display suite.
00:59:35It's so basic.
00:59:39I haven't seen a room with this many things that I like separately that looks so boring together.
00:59:45Like, this is a nice couch.
00:59:46It's a great coffee table.
00:59:48But it's meh.
00:59:52It's not a room that is very conducive for conversation.
00:59:56Shaina, if you were to sit down and also join Darren, what type of...
01:00:00Well, see, I have to sit here because I won't be able to talk to you.
01:00:03Oh, no, we'll have to sit like this with our knees,
01:00:06with our hands at our knees like we're...
01:00:09I feel like we're waiting to see the principal.
01:00:13Or the doctor.
01:00:14Or the dentist.
01:00:16It's definitely the dentist.
01:00:17If this was supposed to be a lounge area to service the pool, this isn't really doing it either.
01:00:23Isn't this like a cabana?
01:00:25Shouldn't this be a place that is pool friendly?
01:00:28If you've got a plunge pool there and you want to come in and watch TV and play games,
01:00:34don't you want to have surfaces that kids can be in their bathers and have a good time?
01:00:38Isn't that what they're trying to sell?
01:00:41They could have done something interesting here with a tiled space that flowed out to the outdoors
01:00:46because of this big sliding door.
01:00:48It could have actually read as an indoor-outdoor alfresco space that continued on to the outdoors.
01:00:53Marty still thinks this room would have been better as a guest bedroom with an ensuite.
01:00:58This is the perfect spot.
01:00:59Imagine the bed here looking out into the garden.
01:01:02Absolutely.
01:01:03And that other room, which they will now have as a bedroom,
01:01:07is on the thoroughfare of getting to all the other houses, which is noisy.
01:01:12So if you've got somebody sleeping in that room and other guests are coming in and out,
01:01:16cars going past, that is not the best room to have your bedroom on.
01:01:21If you are going to change the floor plan to your advantage, you have to blow us away.
01:01:26This has zero connection to lifestyle outside.
01:01:32Isn't it funny today?
01:01:33We've seen two of the front runners completely unravel in front of their eyes
01:01:37and two of the underdogs rise to the top.
01:01:40Scores are going to be very interesting.
01:01:42That's it.
01:01:43Christian, you'll be me.
01:01:44Well done.
01:01:44Give them a clap.
01:01:46I tried.
01:01:47It was a tough week.
01:01:47Here we go.
01:01:50I think this week was probably, like, definitely the worst week we've had on the block.
01:01:54Possibly one of the worst weeks in my life.
01:01:56So just gonna let the judging sink in, get over it, and tomorrow's the start of a new week.
01:02:03It's a tough week.
01:02:16Here we go.
01:02:18You feeling all right?
01:02:20We should change upstairs.
01:02:22No.
01:02:23Are you going to change it?
01:02:24No.
01:02:30Okay, Darren, Palmer, Maddie and Charlotte.
01:02:34I don't think they could have made this space pay off any more than what they have.
01:02:41Courtney and Kraps.
01:02:43Fantastic artwork choices.
01:02:44Lovely furniture.
01:02:45Beautiful colour schemes.
01:02:49Ricky and Hayden.
01:02:51There is definitely going to be a market and a buyer who wants this relaxed style of hideout.
01:03:01Colleen Brad.
01:03:03This is functionally useless.
01:03:13I hate this place.
01:03:15Christian and Mimi.
01:03:17This looks like the display suite.
01:03:19It's so basic.
01:03:22Good and bad.
01:03:28Here we go.
01:03:29Maddie Fox.
01:03:31Maddie and Charlotte.
01:03:32This is a massive selling feature.
01:03:34I think that the girls have nailed it.
01:03:43Yay.
01:03:44I'm a jerk.
01:03:45Courtney and Kraps.
01:03:47This is nice.
01:03:48This is cosy.
01:03:53Ricky and Hayden.
01:03:55This is what you call a leg of your own.
01:03:57This is genius.
01:04:02Colleen Brad.
01:04:03The most uncomfortable room we've seen this season.
01:04:11Christian and Mimi.
01:04:12I'm genuinely standing in a display suite.
01:04:18Pretty tight.
01:04:19See you in a bit.
01:04:22You're not going to ask about the penguin?
01:04:24Oh.
01:04:25Not this week, Scotty.
01:04:26Phil?
01:04:27Not this week.
01:04:27Oh, I forgot.
01:04:28Cheers, mate.
01:04:29Okay, I figured that.
01:04:30How the f*** did they get a door when we tried and couldn't get it?
01:04:39It wasn't so much the door, it was the costume stage.
01:04:42It doesn't f***ing matter.
01:04:43How did they get that plan so late when Jessie and Paige didn't have it?
01:04:47Because they were given the time.
01:04:50Also, we didn't deliver a room.
01:04:51How are you only one boy in a room?
01:04:53I'm sorry.
01:04:57Shana Bates.
01:04:58Maddy and Charlotte.
01:05:00Execution, the painting.
01:05:01Wow.
01:05:02Courtney and Gramps.
01:05:04This is the first week I feel like Grumpy and Courtney have got it wrong.
01:05:07Ricky and Hayden.
01:05:08The connection here is undeniable.
01:05:11Fun and probably the happiest.
01:05:14Colleen Brad.
01:05:15This is wrong.
01:05:16Feels like it's a peep show.
01:05:19Who should have been there?
01:05:20This has zero connection to lifestyle outside.
01:05:25Okay, gang.
01:05:27The winner of week nine, Rumpus Room week on the block,
01:05:29taking home 10,000 bucks from Ford is...
01:05:33It's a big one.
01:05:35It's a tie between one and three.
01:05:37I can't believe it.
01:05:3810!
01:05:39What?
01:05:39No way!
01:05:46Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:05:49Taking out the main challenge and taking a win and got a 10.
01:05:55Crazy how quickly life changes on the block in five days.
01:05:59To hear them say that the styling was perfect and they liked the space
01:06:02and they could see the vision, like, honestly,
01:06:04I just need to stop doubting myself so much.
01:06:06Yeah, it gives us confidence going forward.
01:06:08Congratulations, houses one and three.
01:06:10A tie.
01:06:11You'll be sharing 10,000 bucks from Ford, five grand each,
01:06:15but you've both got a 10 each,
01:06:16so you're getting 10,000 bucks each from Arnott's as well.
01:06:19You beauty!
01:06:20What's up, pal?
01:06:21You're cashed up.
01:06:23You are very cashed up.
01:06:24We are.
01:06:25And you girls are cashed up as well.
01:06:28Way out in front by a massive five points,
01:06:31Maddie and Charlotte tie with Ricky and Hayden on 28.
01:06:35Second on 23 and a half is Courtney and Grant,
01:06:38followed by Kylie and Brad with a total of 16.
01:06:42And in last place is Christian and Mimi with 12 and a half points.
01:06:46We're going to one of the top-notch restaurants in the city.
01:06:49It's Shane D'Elia's Maha, which is a fantastic restaurant.
01:06:53I'm really looking forward to going to it,
01:06:55plus some VIP guests that are coming along that won their series of the block.
01:06:59So they're going to have a lot of tips and tricks for you guys.
01:07:03We're going to have a fantastic night.
01:07:05Big week again next week.
01:07:06End of the block.
01:07:07Inside, it's going to be fantastic.
01:07:08We're nearly there again.
01:07:10Good luck.
01:07:10Good night.
01:07:11Thanks, guys.
01:07:16I'm so dumb.
01:07:19Like, why do I have to be so condescending?
01:07:20Why do the girls get so much advice and so many tips?
01:07:24You're loaded this week.
01:07:25Well done.
01:07:26You're loaded.
01:07:26It's a big week.
01:07:27You can shout.
01:07:28We're going to wait.
01:07:30Well, I'm not waiting.
01:07:31What are they going to do?
01:07:35We have to.
01:07:36Got absolutely annihilated.
01:07:39Like, why do we bother staying up all night?
01:07:42I don't want to be here.
01:07:43Come on, man.
01:07:43Come on.
01:07:44Yeah, that's rough.
01:07:47Have you got all your s**t?
01:07:49Babe.
01:07:50You're either with me or you're not with me.
01:07:52I couldn't give a s**t.
01:07:54What do you mean?
01:07:56You know exactly what I mean.
01:08:04I'm not going back.
01:08:06Baby.
01:08:08I don't want to be without you.
01:08:11I don't want to abandon all of our hard work.
01:08:13We knew we weren't going to go high.
01:08:15I get that, but it's what they f*****g said.
01:08:17I know it's what they said.
01:08:19Yeah.
01:08:20You guys know how it feels.
01:08:21Absolutely.
01:08:22But I don't know if we're f*****g alright.
01:08:34Next week.
01:08:35The beginning of the end.
01:08:37The last challenge.
01:08:38Our last room inside.
01:08:40It's starting to feel a bit more real that it's going to come to an end.
01:08:44Amazing.
01:08:45Maddie and Charlotte face their toughest week.
01:08:47Morning.
01:08:48Morning, guys.
01:08:49Hey.
01:08:49Hello, hello.
01:08:51I'm not going near the girls.
01:08:52Like, we get it.
01:08:53We're a disappointment.
01:08:54What do you want?
01:08:55Stop listening to them, Madeline.
01:08:56Walk away from them.
01:08:57This is a complete disaster, this whole scenario.
01:09:00Our blockheads divide the judges.
01:09:03Whoa.
01:09:05They've listened.
01:09:07For me, that's nasty.
01:09:10Something's not right with this couple.
01:09:13One couple reaches breaking point.
01:09:15F**k over it, eh?
01:09:16I know, yeah.
01:09:17I can't do this without you.
01:09:20Just come with me.
01:09:22We've worked so hard for this.
01:09:26Our room reveal galleries are now open for inspection,
01:09:29exclusively at The Block website.
