00:00In Cuba, people marched on Monday to condemn the genocide perpetrated by the Israeli government
00:06for more than a year against the Palestinian population and other Middle East nations.
00:11This way, the demonstration, called by the Communist Youth Union of the Caribbean country,
00:16denounced the complicity of the United States in the Zionist onslaught that has caused more
00:21than 42,000 deaths in the Gaza Strip, most of them women and children, and more than
00:262,000 in Lebanon.
00:28In the capital, Havana, the participants marched from the MartĂ Forge to the Anti-Imperialist
00:33Tribune.
00:34In the rest of the country, there were open tribunes to demand the end, without conditions
00:40or delays, of the Israeli escalation in the Middle East.
00:49In this context, on Monday, Cuba joined millions of voices crying out for an end to violence
00:54against Palestine and reaffirm its commitment to peace and justice.
00:58Our special envoy, Belén de los Santos, tells us more.
01:01Hello, studios.
01:03I come to you from Havana, Cuba, as a march in solidarity for Palestine is actually taking
01:08place today.
01:10We are in the streets of Havana, right beside the famous MalecĂłn, and this is just one
01:15more of the demonstrations that are taking place around the world and have been taking
01:19place throughout the year, but specifically during this last week, as one year has passed
01:25since the intensification of the genocidal attacks of Israel and Palestine.
01:30But this is the case of Cuba, and Cuba has particular and significant ties of solidarity
01:36with Palestine.
01:37The people have stood together with them along all their struggles.
01:41So this is a particularly significant demonstration for the Cuban people, and this is actually
01:47the culmination of a larger process that was called by the Communist Youth Union here
01:53in Cuba that involved different activities, including, for example, the visits of teachers
01:58and students from the universities that held different classes at local schools to raise
02:03awareness about the situation in Palestine, not only about the terrible acts, the genocidal
02:09acts that have been imposed by Israel on the Palestinian people and that in the last weeks
02:14have also affected Lebanon, but also of the importance of ties of solidarity, of international
02:21solidarity between the people.
02:23So this march today is a culmination of that process and is being marked by the presence
02:28of youngsters, of young school students and also university students that have taken the
02:34lead.
02:35They are also presenting a large human flag that is being raised today in honor of the
02:42young victims of this genocide.
02:44So this is what is happening right now.
02:47This is symbolically happening in Cuban Anti-Imperialist Tribune.
02:51That is the place where demonstrations are held.
02:53That is symbolically in front of the U.S. Embassy, of course, one of Israel's main allies.
03:00So that is what is happening here in Cuba.
03:03So long for us.
03:04Back to you.
