UK weather outlook: Warm but wet and windy. Will conditions calm by the weekend?

00:00It's looking rather warm but wet over the next 24 hours.

00:04Temperatures could reach highs of 21 degrees Celsius

00:07but there will be some heavy and thundery downpours to contend with as well.

00:11Tuesday though looks like it's going to be mostly dry although a predominantly cloudy day

00:16and where the cloud gets thick enough there will be some bits and pieces of drizzle.

00:19However, northern Scotland should see some good spells of sunshine

00:22and there'll be some brightness at times across England and Wales.

00:25But before the day is out I think there will be some hefty showers moving along

00:28the south coast of England particularly towards the southwest and over Northern Ireland.

00:33Temperatures will be widely above average though up into the high teens.

00:38Then into Wednesday and it's going to be a warmer day still with temperatures

00:42expected to reach highs of 21 degrees Celsius across eastern England.

00:46However, it is going to be rather wet with spells of heavy and at times thundery

00:50rain spreading northeastwards across the UK with the highest rainfall totals likely

00:54across southwest England, Wales, northwest England,

00:57the east of Northern Ireland and eastern parts of Scotland.
