What does impact mean to you?

We asked business leaders at the Fortune Impact Initiative conference in Atlanta, Georgia, to define the word “impact.”

00:00For me, it means, what are you doing as a business, as a leader, to drive things beyond just your business results?

00:07When you actually change something. Not when you think about changing something,

00:10but when you actually make a substantive change that will impact the world around you.

00:14Being tenacious, not taking no for an answer, being prepared.

00:18Transform the industry. We must improve the lives of the communities that we serve

00:22and strive for that each and every day. That measures impact for everything that we do.

00:27The act of combining imagination with action and creating an outcome that has an effect.

00:33The other day, somebody called me an influencer. So I said, I'm not an influencer, I'm a woman of influence.

00:39I'm open, I'm real, I'm authentic, I'm organic.

00:43All of the things that would combine to make up a person who provides a level of impact to a group of people.

00:49The change that we can create in our society.

00:52There are so many ways that all of us are working to meet a common mission.

00:57And if we're all doing this in the same direction, we're going to make a change that will have an impact for everyone.
