Cowboys Offense should be blamed for slow starts

Dallas has been in a halftime hole in each of their three home games much in part to the offense not being able to get anything sustained going early.

00:00The slow starts, I can't decide who's most to blame other than I think it's the offense.
00:08Now, you pointed out 35-21-27, defense can't give that up, but the offense has been so
00:14unproductive in getting red zone points.
00:18Anything other than three, hell, did you even, the Saints, they have a touchdown there?
00:23It's 16, that's 16-6-6.
00:25Yeah, they had the CD, the big CD play.
00:29And those, a lot of those touchdowns, or a lot of those field goals are from distance.
00:34So what I'm seeing there is my offense wasn't even able to get me two more minutes of moving
00:41into their zone, even getting to the goal line.
00:44So that's where I put a lot on this offense, A, you know your defense isn't good enough,
00:49you're missing so much.
00:50You're going to have to carry the load, and that's where the $60 million quarterback comes
00:54in.
00:55You're going to have to carry that, and you're incapable of it, and incapable of even protecting
00:59and playing complimentary football to protect that defense.
01:02So I'm going to blame the offense more than I am the defense.
01:05Defense shouldn't be giving up those points, but they're not getting any help from their
01:07offense either.
01:08No, and you talk about the inability to sustain drives, right, I think the Cowboys were one
01:15for five to start that game on third downs, they weren't able to stay on the field.
01:18I think a lot of times is they'll move the football, they get into the red zone, maybe
01:23there's a penalty, something happens, drive stalls, now we're going to have to settle
01:26for three.
01:27The red zone offense has been really, really bad, but I'm with you.
01:30When you're going into a game like this against a good team in Detroit, probably the best
01:33offensive line you're going to play all year, you know that team's going to score.
01:37Offensively, you had to put the onus on yourself, like this is our game, we've got to keep pace.
01:43This one's on us, guys, like defense, hey, you helped us out last week, you kept us in
01:47that game, that was a hell of an effort.
01:49You want to say the Steelers' offense is bad, fine, hey, I'm not going to argue with you.
01:53Either way, shorthanded, that defense gave you a chance to win.
01:56This week, this one's on us, and your offense just completely didn't even remain competitive
02:01in the game.
02:02You never had a chance.
02:04You look up all of a sudden, my gosh, we kicked a field goal, then you go punt, punt, red
02:08zone interception.
02:09I mean, that stuff, nine years in the league now, you can't be turning the football over
02:14in the red zone.
02:16That is a problem.
02:18That's an issue.
02:19But also, are you being helped at all by your offensive coordinator?
02:23You've got a play where you've got two guys that are literally running into each other.
02:26The Cowboys are picking each other off here.
02:29It's not a mesh concept where one guy's trying to get open, they're now causing trash for
02:33each other in the middle of the field.
02:35Something's wrong there, and you shouldn't have, now you're in week six, there's no lack
02:38of training camp and preseason anymore as an excuse.
02:42Your quarterback and wide receiver not being on the same page, that's an issue.
