The government will decide on further action involving Malaysian peacekeepers in Lebanon after holding discussions with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) and the United Nations (UN).

00:00Defense Minister Datuk Sri Mohammed Khaled Nordin said the government will decide on
00:06further action involving Malaysian peacekeepers in Lebanon after holding discussions with
00:12the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon and the UN.
00:16He said the government will contact the UN to ensure that the Malaysian Battalion 85011
00:22or Malbart personnel are safe.
00:25He said Malaysia will continue to monitor the latest developments in Lebanon where the
00:29Hezbollah group is fighting against Israeli forces.
00:33He said the Malbart personnel are carrying out duties based on the protocol and regulations
00:38set by the UN Interim Force.
00:41He said Israel should not drag the Interim Force into the conflict, adding that an attack
00:46on the peacekeepers is an attack against the UN and the international community.
00:52Together with 39 other countries, Malaysia co-signed a joint statement condemning the
00:57attacks that wounded five peacekeepers in Lebanon last week.
01:01The signatory nations contributed peacekeepers to the Interim Force.
01:06On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged the UN to evacuate its peacekeepers
01:12from combat areas in Lebanon immediately, saying that Israel's forces are doing everything
01:17they can to prevent any harm to the peacekeepers.
