00:00The estimated cost of fishing in the Batanes area is estimated to be around Php 8.6 million,
00:08after the super typhoon Julián.
00:12According to Provincial Fishery Officer Dr. Ritchie Rivera,
00:16these include the damaged motorized and non-motorized boats,
00:20as well as the fish cages in the town of Idbayat,
00:23where it is estimated that there is a mass mortality of tilapia.
00:27Rivera also added that there are boats that need to be overhauled
00:31because they have been submerged in seawater for a long time,
00:34especially the machines.
00:36The Damage Report Agency has also responded,
00:40so it is expected that they will fund and provide assistance to the affected fishermen.
00:46Rivera also gave the importance of registering fishermen and their boats
00:54to the Municipal Agriculture Office
00:56so that they can be counted among the priorities to be provided with assistance
01:00if a request for a rehabilitation fund arrives.
