Love your local feature - talks to manager Beth Smith at The Lamb Holymoorside
Transcript
00:00Pubs have been a cornerstone of our local communities for centuries, offering a place
00:12for people to meet together and socialise, as well as providing thousands of jobs and
00:16a cornerstone of the local economy. Here we go behind the bar to meet the people who run
00:21our pubs and say why it's important for you to love your local.
00:24Hi, I'm Beth at the Lammen and Holymoor side, recently taken over by Brampton Breweries.
00:30So I've been in the industry for about seven years now. I started just down the road at
00:35the Bull's Head, as working behind the bar there, and came to work for Peak Ales when
00:42they first took over. So they were here for about two and a half years, and then I've
00:46come to Brampton Breweries to manage the pub for them.
00:50It's just the locals are absolutely brilliant. It's a gorgeous village, and you just get
00:54to know every single person that comes in the pub. You've got all your regulars, you
00:57know what they're drinking before they even come in. You see them walking down the street
01:01and you put their pints already on the bar for them.
01:04So at the minute we're doing three Brampton Brewery ales and three Guest Ales, rotating
01:10through all them different ones. You've got five different lagers, Carlin, Madry, Moretti,
01:16Prava, and Vedette. Ciders, Aspils, and you've got a floating pump as well, which goes between
01:25Neck Oil, Jute Salt, and Hazy Jane.
01:32What would be your most popular drink?
01:34At the minute, my most popular drink is Golden Bud, but as soon as we've run out of it currently.
01:41Obviously opening weekend's been a very busy weekend, so we're just trying to get a level
01:45on how much stock we need, and how busy the pub's going to be, and hopefully it'll go
01:49up from here.
01:50Every Tuesday night we have a quiz, starts at 8 o'clock. It's about 20 questions, and
01:55it's pretty difficult if you ask me. The prize is 8 pints at the end of the night, so one
02:01lucky team gets 8 pints. The quiz teams are between 4 and 6 people.
02:06We've been open a week today, so it'd be lovely for everybody to pop down, have a drink, try
02:11us out. We'd love to see some new faces.
