00:00Once upon a time, there was a kingdom named Devipuram.
00:07In that kingdom, there was a great king named Shivavarma.
00:11He was a king who always stood for what's right.
00:14Once in a while, he would venture out to his kingdom in a disguise to see what is happening
00:18around his land.
00:19He usually did that to understand the problems and concerns that the people of his kingdom
00:24are facing.
00:25Once in a while, he was strolling his kingdom, he sees an old lady named Janaki standing
00:30out of her house.
00:31King questioned her and she replied to him, Why do I have such a problematic life?
00:36I am sick and tired of living in this way.
00:39I hope God can come and take me with him.
00:42After the king listened to what the old lady said, he felt compassionate towards her.
00:47He then walked towards her to understand what she is going through.
00:51He said this to her, May I know what is wrong, madam?
00:54Please tell me what is going on in your life and what are your problems?
00:58If you tell me, I might be able to help you get rid of all of them.
01:01Janaki was surprised to see this young man speaking to her that way.
01:05She was quite happy and looked at him and said this to him, Please come and sit next
01:11to me, but I am not sure how you will be able to solve my problems.
01:16You seem like you have come from a land that is far away.
01:20All I have in my life is my younger granddaughter.
01:23She visits me once in a while, but very rarely.
01:26When I thought of living with my granddaughter in her husband's house, I realized that her
01:32mother-in-law does not like me at all, therefore I wasn't allowed to live with her.
01:38So I spend most of my days in this tiny hut and I work for other people to make a living.
01:45I hope God can come fast and take me away from this misery.
01:50After listening to everything that Janaki said, the king felt very sad.
01:54He looked at the old lady and he said this to her, Oh no, this is such a tragedy.
01:59You shouldn't live alone at this age of your life.
02:02I know it is much difficult for you to earn a living to stay here.
02:06Keep this money and make sure that it helps you for your financial needs.
02:09The king immediately handled a bundle of coins for the old lady.
02:13As soon as he gave it, he went back to his place and a week later the king came back
02:19to the same place in a disguise to see what is happening around.
02:23At that moment, he saw the old lady.
02:25I wish the Lord can come and take my life away.
02:29I cannot live here any longer.
02:32The king was surprised to see this old lady was still very troubled and sad.
02:36Even though he had given all the money that he had at that time, the king gets surprised
02:41and he goes towards her and asks her like this, Are you alright ma'am?
02:46Have you used my money yet or has it gotten over already?
02:50Please let me know what you are going through.
02:53After listening to what the king said, Janaki takes a deep breath and she says like this,
02:58Listen to me young man, what will I do with the money that you gave me?
03:03I've hidden the money that I have so that I can give it to my granddaughter when she
03:09comes and visits me.
03:11But I'm also very scared that my money might be stolen away from me.
03:15Which is why I kept it in a very safe place.
03:20After listening to what Janaki said, the king laughs loudly and he says this to her.
03:26Listen to me ma'am, I shall send my soldiers towards you.
03:30They shall bring you to my place and you shall live peacefully and happily in a luxurious
03:34environment.
03:35You don't have to worry about anything anymore.
03:37After seeing that, king walks away towards his palace again.
03:41The next day morning, some soldiers who were sent by the king came and said this to her.
03:46Ma'am, please come with us.
03:47The king wants to see you immediately.
03:50He has ordered us to bring you to the palace.
03:52As soon as the old lady saw the soldier, she became very afraid and she said this to soldiers.
03:58What mistake or crime have I committed?
04:01And why have you come here?
04:02I think you are in the wrong place.
04:05Ma'am, you have nothing to worry about.
04:07The person that you met yesterday was none other than your king.
04:11He has ordered us to bring you in safe and sound with respect.
04:15Please come with us and we shall take you to his palace immediately right away.
04:19After listening to what the soldiers said, Janaki was very surprised.
04:23Then she gets together with the soldiers and they carry her in a special chariot and they
04:28take her towards the palace.
04:30As soon as Janaki reaches the palace, she looks at the king and king was glad to see
04:35her and he says this to her.
04:37Welcome, ma'am.
04:38It is so glad to see you.
04:39From today onwards, you don't have to struggle about anything in your life anymore.
04:44All the amenities and the luxuries that you need will be given to you.
04:46The king immediately takes Janaki to her special room where she will stay.
04:51The king had thought that she had been through a lot, therefore she will appreciate everything
04:56that the king is doing for her.
04:58He also believed that he would be able to change her life.
05:01After few weeks, king goes to Janaki and asks like this.
05:05How are you, ma'am?
05:06I hope you are very happy.
05:07Have I given everything that you require?
05:09Are you happy to be in my place?
05:10Is there anything else I need to give it to you?
05:13After listening to what king said, Janaki was very sad and she looked at the king and
05:17said this.
05:18I have to say that I am very pleased with what you have given me.
05:23There is no requirements for all this luxury, but I am still glad to eat at the right time
05:30and sleep at a very good place.
05:32But I must say I am still very worried about what is happening in my house.
05:38After listening to what she said, king was very surprised.
05:41Once again he didn't understand what to do.
05:44He looked at Janaki and said this.
05:46What would be there in your tiny little hut?
05:48There might be nothing that is valuable there.
05:50Why are you so concerned about that hut?
05:52Is there something else that you want?
05:54After listening to what the king said, Janaki fears that if she says anything more, the
05:59king might fake offence to it.
06:01So she looks at the king and says this.
06:04What I am trying to say is that since I am here, if my granddaughter wants to visit me,
06:10she would go to my old hut.
06:12And if she goes there, she wouldn't be able to find me.
06:16Therefore, that is the only reason I wonder what is happening in my old hut.
06:21After listening to what Janaki said, the king calls one of his soldiers and he says this
06:27to him.
06:28And soldier also entered the room.
06:31Listen to me.
06:32I want you to go and find out where this woman's granddaughter is and want you to bring her
06:35right here.
06:36After saying this to the soldier, the king looks at Janaki and he says this to her.
06:40Listen to me, ma'am.
06:41From now onwards, all your worries are solved.
06:44Your daughter will be brought right here towards you.
06:46And you would be able to live with her for long as you possibly can.
06:51And this might solve your problems entirely.
06:53You have nothing to worry about anymore.
06:56After seeing that, king walks away from her room.
06:59Few days later, the soldiers bring at Janaki's daughter and her son to meet Janaki.
07:05Since Janaki didn't see her granddaughter for a long while, she looks at her and she
07:10says this to her.
07:12Thank you so much for coming.
07:14It has been such a long time since I have seen you.
07:17May I know how your mother-in-law is treating you nowadays?
07:21The granddaughter Lakshmi couldn't understand why her grandmother was living such a luxurious
07:27place in the palace without knowing what was going on.
07:31Lakshmi asked her grandmother.
07:33Grandma, please tell me this.
07:35I don't understand.
07:36Why have you left your heart and come all the way here in this king's palace?
07:40The people in this palace treating you with so much respect.
07:42What has happened here?
07:44After listening to what Lakshmi said, the Janaki tells everything that had occurred
07:48until then.
07:49Then Janaki and her son decided to stay with the grandmother for a while.
07:54As they kept staying and as time kept moving on, they realized that it is quite different
07:59to stay in a palace than a own home.
08:02They felt like staying on a land of thrones.
08:04One day Lakshmi's son was crying.
08:06Ma'am, your granddaughter's son is crying for a long time.
08:09Crying is not allowed in this palace, as the king will get upset if he hears this.
08:15After listening to what the soldiers said, even Janaki started feeling afraid of consequences
08:20of this ordeal.
08:21She was upset that they were taking the scream of child so seriously and acting like they
08:26would punish her.
08:27Janaki goes to her granddaughter and she says this to her.
08:32Please do not go that side.
08:34Please make sure that your son does not cry when he goes towards that side.
08:40After listening to what her grandmother said, Lakshmi gets very upset.
08:44She then realizes that she cannot stay here anymore and she said this to her grandmother.
08:50Grandma, I cannot stay here anymore.
08:53I have to leave right now.
08:54This is not a safe place for me to stay.
08:56I have to go back to my home.
08:57Janaki understood the problems that her granddaughter was facing.
09:01So she takes all the money that she has and she gives it to her granddaughter and she
09:06says this.
09:07Listen to me.
09:09I want you to understand that I know what you are going through and I would like you
09:15to take this money that I have and leave this place right away.
09:20I understand that it is not safe for you.
09:23Lakshmi takes the money and she leaves immediately from the palace.
09:27Janaki then took everything she had and put it in a bag.
09:31She hand over it to the granddaughter and she thought herself like this.
09:36Now I understand why this was a very bad idea.
09:41Being in this place feels like being in a hell.
09:44I can't have the freedom that I want.
09:47Had I stayed at my place in that hut, I would have had a better life.
09:52I don't know if I should be here anymore and I think I should go away from this place.
09:58I should have never come here.
10:01Janaki goes towards the king and stand in front of him.
10:05The king looks at her and is surprised once again.
10:09What is wrong ma'am?
10:10Can I help you with anything again?
10:11Why do you look so upset and sad?
10:13Is there something going on in your life that I need to fix?
10:16Please let me know.
10:17Janaki looks at king with a very sad expression and she says this to him.
10:22What can I say about this?
10:24If I was living in my hut, I could have worked every single day and I could have had a life
10:31where I did something productive.
10:33But being here, I just feel lazy and useless.
10:37It's almost like I have no purpose in life.
10:40I just feel like this is not what I want to do for the rest of my life.
10:46After listening to what Janaki said, the king looks at her and thinks for a while.
10:51Then king understands the situation of Janaki.
10:54King then takes his decision.
10:55He says this to her.
10:57I understand ma'am, how difficult it is to not do anything on a daily basis.
11:02I will suggest you one thing.
11:04Why don't you go to the place where my daughter lives in Antapuram?
11:08Over there, you would not be alone and you can find a way to make a living for yourself.
11:13Is that a good idea ma'am?
11:15What do you say?
11:16Thank you so much for your offer.
11:18Even though we both have no relation towards each other, you have taken better care of
11:23me than my son could ever.
11:25I am so grateful to be in your blessings.
11:28The fact that you want to look after me this much shows that you are a great king.
11:34After listening to what Janaki said, the king takes her to his daughter Tejaswi.
11:39The king looks at his daughter and says this.
11:42I want you to give small jobs for this lady and make sure that she does everything properly as.
11:48Sure father, I shall do everything I can to make her feel comfortable.
11:53Even though she is in a different place now, she has taken more care than she was in a
11:58previous palace.
11:59Janaki still feels a sense of being lost as she misses her homeland because she is much
12:05far away.
12:06Every once in a while, she would take her key and she would keep looking at it.
12:11The king's daughter notices what Janaki is doing and ask her like this.
12:15Grandma, may I please understand what you are going through?
12:18Since you have come to this place, you always seem sad and lonely.
12:22You always pick up the key and you keep staring at it.
12:25Is this place not up to your satisfaction?
12:27May I know what you are feeling?
12:29After listening to what the king's daughter said, Janaki starts tearing up and she lets
12:34her all emotions take the best of her.
12:37She says this to king's daughter.
12:39All of you have taken such good care of me and have given everything that I could ever
12:45need in any lifetime.
12:48But somehow I feel that something is missing in my life and I think it is because of my
12:53old house.
12:55If you could ask the king to arrange for me to visit my old house just for four days,
13:00I would be glad and I shall promise to come back soon.
13:04Will you please do this for me?
13:07After listening to what Janaki said, king's daughter immediately goes to the king and
13:12narrates everything that has occurred until then.
13:16She says like this to king.
13:18Father, you have given everything you can for that ma'am.
13:22But she still doesn't seem happy.
13:24Ever since she entered my palace, I don't think she has been happy at all.
13:29I think she misses her own house.
13:31Maybe we should send her back.
13:33Maybe that is the only thing that can make her feel happy again.
13:37The king was surprised to hear what his daughter said.
13:40Then king said this.
13:43Even I don't know what to do anymore.
13:45Every time I see her being sad, I try to do the best to make her happy.
13:51But it seems like nothing is making her happy.
13:54So I think it is the best we send her back to her own house, so that she will be so happy.
14:00The king immediately makes arrangements to his soldiers to take Janaki back to her old
14:06house.
14:07King says to his daughter.
14:08But one thing I don't understand.
14:10What does she have to worry about anymore?
14:12But I seriously want to understand what she is going through.
14:15I have an idea.
14:17Father, why don't you take your disguise and go towards your house and see what she is
14:21doing.
14:22Since the time she gets into her old house, so that you will know what is happening.
14:27Yes, you are right.
14:28I have to figure out what she is going through.
14:31I shall go there in my disguise once again to see what is happening.
14:35The king was very curious to see what is going to happen.
14:38He sees Janaki getting into her old house.
14:41She walked very eagerly towards her house.
14:44She happily took a broomstick and cleaned all over the house.
14:49And she takes a mat and lays it down on the floor.
14:52She then sleeps on the top of the mat.
14:54And she says this to herself.
14:56Finally, I am back into my own house and I feel much more safer and peaceful.
15:02It is very true what the old people have said before.
15:07That being in a golden cage is no better than being in a tiny hut.
15:12I don't need freedom to be as a human being.
15:16I never would like to go back to that place again.
15:19This is the life that I want to live.
15:22The king finally gets to understand what the Janaki needed to order to be happy.
15:28She valued her freedom and she valued her happiness more than anything in her life.
15:34She understood what makes her happy.
15:36Even though she had everything that is needed in the king's palace, Janaki needed was her
15:41freedom.
15:42King then leaves to the palace.
