00:00The Department of Agriculture, or DA, has temporarily banned the importation of animals
00:05from Turkey following the foot and mouth disease, or FMD, outbreak.
00:10This is based on DA-issued Memorandum Order No. 42, series of 2024.
00:16The basis for the order is an analysis conducted by the World Organization for Animal Health
00:21in three different locations in Turkey on September 13.
00:26Some of the animals infected with FMD include cattle, pigs, sheep, goat, and deer.
00:32The government is doing this to prevent the risk of FMD transmission to local livestock.
