00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03Investigations are continuing after a man was left seriously injured during an incident at a Derbyshire Household Waste Recycling Centre.
00:11The incident happened at around 12.20pm yesterday when two vehicles collided at the Household Waste Recycling Centre at Northwood near Dalydale, leaving a man seriously injured.
00:22The site was closed yesterday afternoon to allow accident investigation work to take place while the man was taken to hospital for treatment.
00:31A multi-million pound project to revamp Chesterfield's historic market is progressing quickly with the first phase due to be completed before Christmas.
00:41Phase 1 is focused on the upper half of the marketplace and visitors to the town will have seen Chesterfield Borough Council's contractor Thomas Bow starting to relay the cobbles which have been lifted, cleaned and levelled off to smooth on its surfaces.
00:55These have then been relayed along with sections of new paving making the area more accessible.
01:00Work to create the structures which will form a new market stall layout is also underway, paving the way for the creation of new timber stalls providing more cover for traders and shoppers.
01:10Underground utilities including an electricity supply have been installed which will support a new lighting system and more modern facilities for traders.
01:18Councillors Kate Sarvant who is Chesterfield Borough Council's cabinet member for the town centre said,
01:23I am pleased to see work progressing so quickly and you can start to see how the final layout will look and feel.
01:29We want to preserve our market's heritage but also ensure that we can make it more accessible to improve the experience for traders, shoppers and visitors.
01:38There is still some way to go but the transformation will help attract more visitors and ensure the town centre can thrive for generations to come.
