00:00 Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03 Derbyshire County Council has agreed to introduce cost-saving efficiency changes at its nine household waste recycling centres,
00:11 including reducing opening hours and bringing in new charges.
00:14 Changes will be part of a cost-saving plan following large increases in waste disposable at its nine sites,
00:20 and after a multi-million pound out-of-court settlement payout by the Council alongside Derby City Council following a dispute with the Waste Management Team.
00:29 The decision to introduce the changes follows consideration of a 12-week public consultation which was held from October last year.
00:36 Changes include charging a fee to dispose of tyres and asbestos, set at £4 per tyre and £6 per sheet of asbestos.
00:44 Other changes include continuing to operate the recycling centres seven days a week,
00:49 but reducing the opening hours by two days each day at eight of the centres when they are typically less busy.
00:55 Cabinet members from the Council also approved plans to set up a £200,000 plan to install automatic number plate recognition systems at the waste site.
01:03 These will not only identify vehicles from outside Derbyshire using the county's waste sites, but will also allow them to be charged.
01:11 A national women's clothing chain has shut up its shop in Chesterfield.
01:15 Romans on Burlington Street has closed its doors, with stock fixtures, fittings and exterior signage all now removed.
01:22 It is the third fashion shop to close in the town centre in just over a month,
01:26 following the shutdown of Shee on Knifesmithsgate due to the owner's retirement and the departure of Yours from the Vicar Lane shopping centre.
01:33 The Derbyshire Times has contacted Romans about the reasons for shutting their shop in Chesterfield.
01:38 However, a spokesperson on the customer service team said the company does not wish to comment on this closure.
