00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos have arrived in Laos PDR

00:05to attend the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.

00:12The President is expected to discuss some regional and international issues

00:18that are of common concern to the members of ASEAN.

00:22The Filipino community there was also visited by the Executive Board.

00:27That's what Kenneth Paciente has to say.

00:31Assembly in ASEAN, connectivity and cooperation in each country is what the President is expected to focus on

00:39at the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Laos People's Democratic Republic.

00:46The President and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos will meet in the afternoon

00:52for an activity that will last until Friday.

00:55The President is expected to discuss some regional and international issues

01:02that are of common concern to the members of ASEAN.

01:04The Executive Board is expected to push the interests of the country there,

01:08especially since he was appointed to the 16th ASEAN Summit with the various leaders of the ASEAN Member States.

01:25We will be discussing food and energy security, trade and investment, supply chain resilience, MSMEs,

01:31and addressing the impacts of climate change and more.

01:35We will also be discussing international issues that impact beyond the region,

01:40including the West Philippine Sea, the situation in Myanmar, conflict in Ukraine,

01:46and the Middle East as well, among other important regional and international issues.

01:53President Marcos Jr. is also expected to assist in bringing the weight of the Philippines' sovereignty

02:00to its territory in accordance with international law.

02:03As we continue to grapple with sharpening regional tensions,

02:07including the recent dangerous incidents in the West Philippine Sea,

02:11I intend to champion our advocacies in promoting an open, inclusive, and rules-based international order.

02:20And for the peaceful resolution of any disputes in accordance with international law.

02:26This administration will continue to ensure that our constructive and deepening engagements with ASEAN,

02:34our dialogue partners, and stakeholders serve our national interest and the well-being of the Filipino people.

02:42The President also scheduled a visit to the Filipino community in Laos.

02:46In addition, the President assured that the Philippine government will address the situation in Lebanon and Israel.

02:53He will continue to coordinate with the Philippine government

02:56to ensure that the Philippines can safely return home to their country.

02:59He was also pleased to report that no Filipino was injured in the riots there.

03:04In fact, it is expected that the 162 distressed OFWs will be repatriated this month of October,

03:11when the government is ready for action.

03:13To our fellow Filipinos in Lebanon and Israel,

03:16our government is ready to meet your needs.

03:22We hope that you will avail yourselves of our repatriation program while flights are available.

03:28In the meantime, heed the advisories of the Philippine Embassy with updates daily.
