We visit Erdington - impacted by low-level nuisance behaviour and ASBO issues, capturing the reality of the problem through visuals of litter, graffiti, and vandalism. Speaking with locals, we explore how these issues have affected their daily lives and what more could be done by authorities to resolve them. Has their area seen improvement, or does more need to be done?

00:00I just saw somebody shoplift a minute ago, 10 minutes ago,
00:03and the police just sat there, they didn't do nothing.
00:05Why? That's what we've got to ask ourselves.
00:08We pay our taxes, yeah? We vote.
00:10So why can we not walk along a public high street like this
00:14in safety, without people stealing our stuff?
00:17I think there's probably a lot of people that are coming in
00:19from other parts of the country,
00:21and I think that's probably because of the housing that's going to HMO,
00:23and I think there's been a lot of people that have been shipped in
00:26with a lot of issues, perhaps mental health issues,
00:28drugs and alcohol issues,
00:30and I think that's definitely had a knock-on effect in the local area.
00:33I'm looking everywhere, but nobody gives me any problems,
00:35I'm quite a hot-headed person anyway,
00:36because you've got to be in these areas, if you don't,
00:38people will just walk all over you.
00:40I've lived in this area for about 20 years.
00:42I've lived in Aston, I've lived in, you know, Stetchford,
00:45and they're all rough areas, they are,
00:47and you've got to be able to hold your own,
00:49because if you can't, they're just going to walk all over you,
00:51you know, and that's the way it is, it's territorial.
00:53You know, people around these areas, they're rough and, you know,
00:56it's, they ain't got much.
