00:34The President of South Korea arrived in the country yesterday,
00:38following the invitation of the former Executive Minister.
00:41The arrival of honors was held, followed by the signing of the West Book at the Palace.
00:47The State Visit of the Leader of South Korea was held on the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations
00:55between the Philippines and South Korea, which was established in March 1949.
01:00President Marcos Jr. said that it is a symbol of the rich history of the two countries.
01:07Thousands of soldiers were sent to the Philippines when the Korean War broke out in 1950.
01:15The relationship between the Philippines and South Korea continues to be established
01:19in the areas of defense, security, maritime cooperation, and bilateral relations.
01:24There is only one clear direction ahead,
01:28which is to strengthen the strategic relationship between the two countries
01:32in the face of a complicated geopolitical environment.
01:45and to promote a rules-based order governed by international law,
01:50including the 1982 UNCLOS and the binding 2016 Arbitral Award.
01:57According to South Korean President Yun,
02:00it was a good opportunity for his State Visit,
02:03not only to assess the bilateral relations and economic cooperation between the Philippines and South Korea,
02:10but also to strengthen the relationship and expand the partnership between the two countries.
02:33At the bilateral meeting,
02:35the two leaders discussed issues related to politics, security, defense, and maritime cooperation.
02:41The two leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues,
02:47such as the West Philippine Sea and the Korean Peninsula.
02:52The two leaders discussed economic development and strengthening the relationship between people.
02:58Six important agreements were established between the two countries,
03:03including the strengthening of maritime cooperation between the Philippine Coast Guard and the Korean Coast Guard.
03:33In particular, Korea will actively take part in the Re-Horizon 3 phase of the modernization of the AFP.
03:39Also based on the MOU on Maritime Cooperation signed today,
03:43our two countries will reinforce maritime security partnership in such areas as
03:47tackling transnational crime, information sharing, and conducting search and rescue missions.
03:52Memorandum of Understanding was also passed
03:55on the construction of a feasibility study for the Bataan Nuclear Plant,
03:59which is said to be helpful for the country to have sufficient electricity supply.
04:04The construction of a framework to enhance the national and regional urban development in the Philippines,
04:11to have strategic cooperation in the raw materials used in the supply chain.
04:17A loan agreement was also signed on the Summer Coast Road 2 Project,
04:21Laguna Lake Shore Network Project Phase 1,
04:24and Panay-Gimaras-Negros Island Bridges Project.
04:27And to strengthen bilateral tourism cooperation,
04:31the Implementation Program of the Memorandum of Understanding was signed
04:36by the Korean Tourism Department and Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism
04:41for the current year until 2029.
04:44The two leaders were called Productivo,
04:47the first state visit of a Korean president in the Philippines in 13 years.
04:54It will last until today, October 7.
