The Crawling Eye (1958), also known as The Trollenberg Terror, is a British sci-fi horror film directed by Quentin Lawrence. The story centers on a mysterious radioactive cloud in the Swiss Alps that conceals monstrous, tentacled creatures with telepathic abilities. These creatures, or "crawling eyes," emerge from the cloud to terrorize climbers and a nearby village. A scientist and a group of survivors must uncover the origin of these creatures and stop them. The film combines classic sci-fi tropes with a sense of atmospheric dread and has become a cult favorite for fans of 1950s creature features.

00:04:42Now don't...
00:04:43Don't worry.
00:04:44It's all right.
00:04:45My name is Alan Brooks.
00:04:47Oh, well, I'm Ann Pilgrim, and this is my sister, Sarah.
00:04:52Hello.
00:04:53How do you do?
00:04:54Oh.
00:04:57There we are.
00:05:02I'm sorry about your newspaper, Mr. Brooks.
00:05:05Oh, that's all right.
00:05:06I've got the baseball scores.
00:05:08There you are.
00:05:09Spot of that will bring the color back.
00:05:15You look like you might do with one.
00:05:16No, thanks.
00:05:18You have far to go?
00:05:20Geneva.
00:05:21It's quite a run.
00:05:22Trollenburg.
00:05:24Next Trollenburg.
00:05:26Trollenburg?
00:05:30Sarah, we're getting off at Trollenburg.
00:05:32That's my stop.
00:05:33What's the matter, Ann?
00:05:34You know we have to go on to Geneva.
00:05:35No, I really can't go any further today.
00:05:38We can stop at the Hotel Europa.
00:05:40Hotel Europa?
00:05:41We've never been to this place.
00:05:42How do you know about the Hotel Europa?
00:05:48I don't know.
00:05:50Ann, what's got into you?
00:05:54We're getting off at Trollenburg.
00:05:55Please, Sarah.
00:06:13Oh, Herr Brooks, I'm sorry I'm late.
00:06:15Did you have a nice trip, Herr Brooks?
00:06:17Herr Klein, nice to see you again.
00:06:18Oh, I'd like for you to meet Miss Ann and Sarah Pilgrim.
00:06:21Herr Klein.
00:06:22He's a proprietor of the Hotel Europa.
00:06:24I wonder if any of you could help us out.
00:06:26These young ladies have arrived without any reservations.
00:06:28Thought perhaps you could put them up.
00:06:30Yes, sir.
00:06:31Yes, that would be all right.
00:06:32Good.
00:06:33Thank you very much.
00:06:34The car's outside.
00:06:36It's very good of you to put us up at such short notice.
00:06:39Well, this is the place.
00:06:42This is not yet our season, you understand.
00:06:44Oh, I thought now would have been about your busiest time.
00:06:46Well, normally, yes, but...
00:06:49Oh, is Hans still working for you?
00:06:52Yes, Hans is still working, Herr Brooks.
00:06:59Cigarette, sir?
00:07:00No, thank you.
00:07:02Ann?
00:07:05No, thank you.
00:07:06How about you, Herr Klein?
00:07:07Thank you, I don't smoke.
00:07:08They shouldn't have started, Herr Klein.
00:07:11What are you talking about?
00:07:12An accident.
00:07:13Last week, 1,200 feet up the South Col.
00:07:17Three English students, one of them was killed.
00:07:21Was there an accident, Mr. Klein?
00:07:24On a mountain, these things sometimes happen.
00:07:28What else do you know about the Trollenberg?
00:07:31Peasants are leaving the mountain.
00:07:33They say it's bad luck.
00:07:36The mountain people are very secretive.
00:07:38They are superstitious.
00:07:42All these stories are nonsense.
00:07:45What stories?
00:07:46Climbers disappearing into the mist and never seen again.
00:08:09The Trollenberg
00:08:22Hans!
00:08:35Hello.
00:08:36You must be Mr. Brooks.
00:08:37Klein told us you were coming.
00:08:39My name is Truscott, Philip Truscott.
00:08:41How are you, Mr. Truscott?
00:08:42Klein, you didn't tell us we were expecting other guests.
00:08:45Oh, this is Miss Sarah Pilgrim and Miss Ann Pilgrim.
00:08:47Hello.
00:08:48Pilgrim.
00:08:49Sarah and Ann Pilgrim.
00:08:52I'm sure we've met before.
00:08:54The name rings a bell.
00:08:55Does it?
00:08:56Would you mind if we went up to our rooms now?
00:09:07It's all there.
00:09:10The observatory at the foot of the mountain.
00:09:13The cable car.
00:09:16There's the small hut the climbers use.
00:09:17You can see it from the observatory.
00:09:21It's all there.
00:09:22Just like...
00:09:25Just like what, Ann?
00:09:28Well, just like...
00:09:30Sarah, why did I want to come here?
00:09:32What is there about this place?
00:09:34Why do I feel I've seen it all before?
00:09:36Don't worry about it, darling.
00:09:38Lots of people get a feeling like that.
00:09:40Perhaps you read about it in a book.
00:09:42Or saw a picture in a travel folder.
00:09:44You mustn't let it upset you.
00:09:47No, I mustn't.
00:09:50Yes, you're right.
00:09:52I've probably got it all wrong.
00:09:54I've got it all wrong.
00:09:57Yes, you're right.
00:09:58I've probably read about it.
00:10:07Come in.
00:10:11Hi.
00:10:12How are you?
00:10:14Give you a hand?
00:10:15Oh, I think I can manage.
00:10:19Lovely spot, this, isn't it?
00:10:21Certainly is.
00:10:22You've been here before, haven't you?
00:10:24Yes, once, a couple of years ago.
00:10:27Good climbing.
00:10:28So they tell me.
00:10:30Don't you climb?
00:10:31Not if I can help it.
00:10:33Funny place to come for a holiday.
00:10:36If you don't climb.
00:10:41Yes, isn't it?
00:10:46Attractive, those two girls, aren't they?
00:10:48Certainly are.
00:10:49Pilgrim sisters.
00:10:51Sarah and Ann.
00:10:54Of course, I knew I'd seen them before somewhere.
00:10:56London Palladium, about a month ago.
00:10:58They're a mind-reading act.
00:11:02Funny they didn't say anything.
00:11:05Well, perhaps they wanted some privacy.
00:11:10I'll buy you a drink later.
00:11:13All right.
00:11:14Good.
00:11:25Give me Zurich 6468, will you?
00:11:35Yes, I want you to check on someone for me.
00:11:37Brooks.
00:11:38Alan Brooks.
00:11:39He's just arrived here.
00:11:42He's American, he's about 40, I should think.
00:11:46Well, I should try New York first,
00:11:48and then Los Angeles, and then Washington.
00:11:51Okay.
00:11:52Okay.
00:11:54Right.
00:12:04Hello there, you'll be Brooks.
00:12:07That's right.
00:12:08I'm Dewhurst, this is Brent.
00:12:10How do you do?
00:12:11How do you do?
00:12:12Looks like you're going for a climb.
00:12:14Yes, we're going up the Trollenberg.
00:12:16Gonna have a noggin before we start.
00:12:17Care to join us?
00:12:18All right.
00:12:19What's it going to be?
00:12:20Scotch, please.
00:12:21Scotch and a coup brandy.
00:12:23Better give me a bottle of brandy to take with us.
00:12:25Keep the cold out tonight.
00:12:27You, uh, you're going to stay the night?
00:12:29No, there's a hut at the foot of the South Col.
00:12:31We'll sleep there tonight and attack the mountain proper tomorrow.
00:12:36Hello, Truscott.
00:12:38You must be Miss Pilgrim.
00:12:40Yes, that's right.
00:12:41Oh, uh, this is Mr. Dewhurst, sir.
00:12:43And Mr. Brent.
00:12:45Brent, yes.
00:12:46How do you do?
00:12:47Would you care for a drink?
00:12:48I appear to be in the chair.
00:12:49Wish us bon voyage.
00:12:51I'll have a Campari.
00:12:52Truscott?
00:12:53Uh, scotch, please.
00:12:54Campari and another scotch, Hans, please.
00:12:56Sit down, sir.
00:12:57Now, sister's here with you, isn't she?
00:12:59Klein told us.
00:13:00Yes.
00:13:01Would she care to join us?
00:13:02Oh, no.
00:13:03She's having a rest just now.
00:13:04Quite an occasion for me.
00:13:05My first time up a mountain.
00:13:07Well, yours too, Mr. Brent?
00:13:09Oh, no.
00:13:10Need the big boys in the alpine club.
00:13:12How did you come to take up mountaineering?
00:13:14Want to see if we can't find some good reason for all these accidents.
00:13:18I'm a geologist.
00:13:19I know all about rock formation and that sort of thing.
00:13:22Well, here we are.
00:13:24Cheers.
00:13:25Good luck.
00:13:26To a good climb.
00:13:29Keep an eye on your roping, won't you?
00:13:33Why roping particularly?
00:13:34Student business last week.
00:13:37That's right.
00:13:38Nasty business.
00:13:39Very nasty.
00:13:40What was that?
00:13:42Some kids.
00:13:43Climbing on the South Col, and one of them fell.
00:13:46They shouldn't have been climbing without a guide.
00:13:48Seems he wasn't roped up correctly, and the rope got caught up around his neck.
00:13:52Strangle him?
00:13:53Worse than that.
00:13:55Tore his head off.
00:13:58You don't know the half of it.
00:14:00Tell them what the villagers say, Hans.
00:14:03It's not for me to...
00:14:05What do they say, Hans?
00:14:07Well, the guides who found him, also his friends.
00:14:12This where the rope was around his waist.
00:14:15You understand?
00:14:17It was still tied.
00:14:20But how could it have...
00:14:22The villagers have something to say about that, too.
00:14:26Haven't they, Hans?
00:14:30Excuse me.
00:14:39What do the villagers say?
00:14:41What do the villagers say, Treskin?
00:14:43They say that it happened before he fell.
00:14:46As I said, they shouldn't allow inexperienced climbers up the Trollenberg without a guide.
00:14:51There are bound to be accidents.
00:14:53Nevertheless, you watch your roping.
00:14:55We ought to be moving.
00:14:57You want to make the hut before nightfall?
00:14:59Yes.
00:15:00Oh, uh, I'm going up to the observatory.
00:15:02I'll hitch a ride with you in the cable car.
00:15:04That is, unless you're going to climb the whole way.
00:15:06Climb the whole way?
00:15:07What if I can help it?
00:15:12You see, there are certain chemical changes that can take place inside rock,
00:15:16which cause a physical alteration to its structure.
00:15:19At times, it can become like chalk, break away in your hand.
00:15:22What do you think of that, Brad?
00:15:25Oh, I don't think it's like that.
00:15:27A mountain's a mountain.
00:15:29Some people can climb it, and some can't.
00:15:32Those that can't shouldn't try.
00:15:34I'm here under sufferance.
00:15:37How long do you think it'll take you to reach the hut from the observatory?
00:15:39I don't know.
00:15:40About three and a half hours?
00:15:42It's an easy climb.
00:15:57Professor.
00:15:59Professor.
00:16:00How many more times do I tell you I am not to be interrupted?
00:16:03I'm sorry, sir, but there's someone outside to see you.
00:16:05I don't care. Tell him to go away.
00:16:07He says his name is Brooks.
00:16:08Tell him to...
00:16:11Alan Brooks?
00:16:12Yes, sir.
00:16:13Well, bring him in. Bring him in.
00:16:15Now, wait. Wait.
00:16:17I'll bring him in myself.
00:16:25Alan.
00:16:26My dear Alan.
00:16:28They all get a sack for leaving you out here.
00:16:30Come in. Come in.
00:16:31Oh, it's good of you to come and see me.
00:16:33I know you're all of this, too.
00:16:35I was lucky I was in Europe.
00:16:36You got my letter?
00:16:37Yes.
00:16:38Well, you don't say very much.
00:16:39What's the matter? You're not pleased to see your old friend?
00:16:42Begain, sir, Professor.
00:16:43And how are you, Alan?
00:16:45Come in. Come in.
00:16:49Well, Alan.
00:16:51What do you think of our little observatory, huh?
00:16:53Yes, indeed.
00:16:55You know, the government gives me as much money as I want.
00:17:00Come here.
00:17:01I'll show you something.
00:17:05Television?
00:17:06Better than windows.
00:17:08Now, look.
00:17:16You see?
00:17:17Television cameras on the roof.
00:17:19We watch everywhere.
00:17:29You know, the government...
00:17:31The government, they say to me,
00:17:32Professor, do you have to have such expensive things?
00:17:35Windows are much cheaper.
00:17:38And I say, I have to have, and I have!
00:17:43That over there, that is the only window.
00:17:46And even for that, we have protection.
00:17:48Look.
00:17:56That will stand up to any avalanche.
00:18:01That, too, was very expensive.
00:18:04All this to study cosmic rays.
00:18:07Well, Alan, come into my office, huh?
00:18:11Well, Alan, here we are.
00:18:15Same old mess, huh?
00:18:19Well, you're looking very fit.
00:18:22Fit? I look the same as always.
00:18:25Come on, quit your stalling, Professor.
00:18:26You forget I know you.
00:18:28You said in your letter that it was urgent.
00:18:29I see right away.
00:18:31What's so urgent?
00:18:33Well, how long have you been here in Trollenberg, Alan?
00:18:35Got here this morning, came right up to see you.
00:18:37You haven't heard about the accidents, then?
00:18:40Yes, I... I heard about the students.
00:18:42Yeah, that was one of them, but...
00:18:44But there have been others. Many others.
00:18:47Where people climb mountains, there are lots of accidents.
00:18:51That's true.
00:18:52And sometimes the bodies, they disappear.
00:18:55But here, the search parties go out and always they find nothing.
00:19:01Now, why is that?
00:19:06I don't know.
00:19:09And then there is the cloud.
00:19:11What cloud?
00:19:13Come on, Alan, you know what I'm talking about.
00:19:15The cloud where there should be no cloud.
00:19:17Where there are mountains, there are always clouds.
00:19:20But this one remains static.
00:19:22On the side of the Trollenberg, it never moves.
00:19:25Freak of nature.
00:19:28A radioactive freak of nature?
00:19:31Radioactive?
00:19:33Can we see it from here?
00:19:35Come, I'll show you.
00:19:46There you are, on the south side of the Trollenberg.
00:19:56Alan, come here.
00:19:57Come here.
00:20:04Now, you see, here is a map of the area.
00:20:08This is the Trollenberg.
00:20:10Now, that is the scanner. It's up on the roof here.
00:20:14Now, you see at the moment, nothing. No reaction, nothing.
00:20:17Now, remember, here is the cloud.
00:20:21I turn on the scanner.
00:20:23So, now watch when it passes the cloud.
00:20:25Watch up here on the dials.
00:20:29Now, you see it passed the cloud, nothing.
00:20:32Watch it go around again.
00:20:38Watch here.
00:20:45Well, what do you think of that?
00:20:50Now, Alan, I asked you to think back three years ago.
00:20:55To what happened in the Andes.
00:20:57But, but this can't be the same.
00:21:00Why not? We have the accidents like before.
00:21:03We have the cloud like before. Why can't it be the same?
00:21:05Too many things missing.
00:21:07The mental compulsion.
00:21:09What is it?
00:21:11Girl on the train.
00:21:13She, she suddenly decided she had to get off at Trollenberg.
00:21:17She was booked for Geneva.
00:21:19But she had to get off at Trollenberg.
00:21:22And did she?
00:21:23Yes.
00:21:25She's at the hotel.
00:21:27There's climbers on the Trollenberg, sir.
00:21:31Climbers?
00:21:33I thought they were all scared away.
00:21:35Where are they?
00:21:3716 degrees west of due north.
00:21:442,000 meters.
00:21:54Hmm?
00:21:56Oh, it's Brett and Dewhurst.
00:21:58You know them?
00:22:00Well, just from the hotel. They came up with me on the cable car.
00:22:07Well, they should be all right as long as they stick to the present track.
00:22:12The cloud is well to the west of the path.
00:22:16Alan, will you do something about what I've told you?
00:22:21The cloud?
00:22:24Inform the authorities.
00:22:26Look, I'm on a holiday.
00:22:28Besides, you haven't told me anything that can be proved.
00:22:31I've told you about the cloud, I've told you about the accidents.
00:22:34What more do you want?
00:22:35Fax proof.
00:22:37Something that'll look real and black and white on the committee's desk.
00:22:39I don't know.
00:22:41I'm going to stick my neck out again like I did in the Andes.
00:22:43But why?
00:22:45You were employed by the United Nations.
00:22:47It was all in the report.
00:22:49Look, by the time the Andes report was in,
00:22:51there wasn't anything left in the area,
00:22:53and I'm sure you know why.
00:22:55They practically accused me of dreaming the whole thing up.
00:22:58If I was to take a hand here,
00:23:00I'd have to have a list of documented facts,
00:23:02and they'd have to be pretty conclusive.
00:23:04You're an important man.
00:23:06Why don't you get true to Bern?
00:23:08Important?
00:23:10I'm only important if I say something about cosmic rays.
00:23:12If I say anything else,
00:23:14they tell me to mind my own business.
00:23:17Maybe...
00:23:19Maybe you should speak to Klein.
00:23:21Hotel proprietor?
00:23:23He's the mayor of Thronenburg.
00:23:25Perhaps he could help.
00:23:27Anyway, he could supply a list of the accidents.
00:23:31Then perhaps you do something yourself.
00:23:54You all right?
00:23:57Oh, take your pack off, man.
00:23:59You can't relax like that.
00:24:11Hello?
00:24:13Yes, Herbert.
00:24:16You arrived all right?
00:24:18Yes.
00:24:20I'm fine.
00:24:21You arrived all right?
00:24:23Good.
00:24:25Good.
00:24:27A night's sleep will set you right.
00:24:30Yes, all right.
00:24:32Goodbye.
00:24:36It was Herbert.
00:24:38They have arrived at the hut.
00:24:40You see, there's nothing to worry about.
00:24:43It is just unfortunate that this year
00:24:45we have had many inexperienced climbers.
00:24:48And what about the rumors in the village?
00:24:49Well, you know these people, Professor.
00:24:51They are superstitious.
00:24:53They like to believe in...
00:24:55in fairy stories.
00:24:57Gentlemen, you understand.
00:24:59Officially, there's nothing I can do.
00:25:09We should be able to make the summit and back tomorrow.
00:25:12If we travel light.
00:25:14I must have a sack for rock samples.
00:25:15I think we can manage that.
00:25:17You can take your sack.
00:25:31Visibility's not too good.
00:25:34A little clear.
00:25:36Well, come here.
00:25:45Now a cloud.
00:25:48Moving down from the peak.
00:25:53Will this do, Miss Pilgrim?
00:25:55Oh, this will be fine.
00:25:59It's quite a collection you have there.
00:26:02Now, would somebody bring Ann in, please?
00:26:04Oh, yes.
00:26:06Now, you'll see that I make no signals to Ann
00:26:08and say nothing.
00:26:10So it's impossible for any sort of code to be used.
00:26:12We'll go down there and...
00:26:14Yep.
00:26:23It's a banknote.
00:26:25French.
00:26:27500 francs.
00:26:30There's a number on it.
00:26:38H...
00:26:41O...
00:26:431...
00:26:451...
00:26:478...
00:26:498.
00:26:52Very good.
00:26:54And who does it belong to, young lady?
00:26:56Philip.
00:27:04It's a rounded sort of object about the size of a tennis ball.
00:27:09Made of glass.
00:27:11I think it's used as a paperweight.
00:27:14There's a model inside it.
00:27:17A mountain and a little hut.
00:27:21And when you shake it, there's a snowstorm.
00:27:30Snow.
00:27:33Mountains.
00:27:35Little hut.
00:27:38Two men in the hut.
00:27:39Ann.
00:27:41Leave her alone. Don't touch her.
00:27:43Yes, the fat one, he's asleep.
00:27:46But he's not the one.
00:27:49It's the other one.
00:27:53Sitting at a table.
00:27:55Smoking.
00:27:57Writing in a book.
00:28:00He's the one.
00:28:06He's getting up.
00:28:09He's coming towards the door.
00:28:14He's reached the door.
00:28:16He's opening it.
00:28:21He's coming out.
00:28:23Up the slope.
00:28:25Up the slope.
00:28:27Walking slowly.
00:28:31Snow.
00:28:33Mountains.
00:28:36Paperweight.
00:28:38Glass paperweight.
00:28:42Please, don't crowd.
00:28:43Get her up to her room.
00:28:57Hello?
00:28:58Hello, Brett?
00:29:00You asked here, what do you want?
00:29:02Are you all right?
00:29:03Yes, why?
00:29:05Is Brett there?
00:29:06Of course he is.
00:29:07Wouldn't go wandering off in the middle of the night.
00:29:10Hold on.
00:29:23Jurist.
00:29:25Jurist, is Brett there?
00:29:26Can you hear me?
00:29:27Jurist, are you there?
00:29:28Hello? Hello?
00:29:31Hello?
00:29:32You're right, he's not here.
00:29:34He must have just gone out.
00:29:35I'd better go and look for him.
00:29:37No, don't do that.
00:29:38You'll be lost in five seconds.
00:29:39Just sit tight where you are.
00:29:41I think I should go.
00:29:42There may be something wrong.
00:29:44No, you're not to move.
00:29:45Stay in the hut.
00:29:46What's the weather like?
00:29:47Not very good.
00:29:48Some heavy cloud coming down.
00:29:49Well, then stay where you are.
00:29:50There'll be somebody at this end of the phone all night.
00:29:52If Brett shows up or if you need us,
00:29:54bring us here, will you?
00:29:55All right.
00:29:56Bye.
00:29:57Bye.
00:30:06Brett!
00:30:08Brett!
00:30:10Brett!
00:30:12Brett!
00:30:28She's coming around, I think.
00:30:30She'll be here.
00:30:32She'll be here.
00:30:33Ah, she's coming around, I think.
00:30:41Grandma, what happened?
00:30:42It's all right, darling. You passed out.
00:30:47Well, we need something to relax your system.
00:30:49Sedative, perhaps. You have such a thing?
00:30:51I may have some sleeping pills in my room.
00:30:53Shall I see if I can find them?
00:30:54Oh, please. Thank you.
00:31:04Miss Sarah, could I speak with you for a minute, please?
00:31:10All right.
00:31:14I shan't be a minute.
00:31:27Now, Miss Sarah, I don't want you to upset yourself.
00:31:30There is any gum?
00:31:31No.
00:31:32Yes, that's fine.
00:31:34Now, you give her two of these, then come downstairs, please, huh?
00:31:38All right.
00:31:48So, Mr. Brett decides to take a walk.
00:31:50That is not so strange.
00:31:52Hope you're right.
00:31:55How is she?
00:31:57Well, she'll be all right, I think.
00:31:59Did you get through to the hut?
00:32:00Yes.
00:32:02Mr. Brett isn't there.
00:32:06Did you notice how she said,
00:32:09he was coming out of the hut, coming up the mountainside?
00:32:13It was as though she was watching from on the Trollenberg itself.
00:32:20Miss Sarah, I wanted to ask you something.
00:32:24This act of yours, you've been doing it for how long?
00:32:28About two years now.
00:32:30You don't use a code, do you?
00:32:33Well, we used to,
00:32:34and then we found that Dan could guess what I was thinking before I started speaking.
00:32:38But I don't see what this has got to do with...
00:32:40Please, please.
00:32:41Your sister's telepathic, no?
00:32:44Yes, she is.
00:32:46I want her to give up the act.
00:32:47Why?
00:32:48Well, you saw what happened tonight.
00:32:49It's a dreadful mental strain.
00:32:51That's really why we're taking this holiday.
00:32:53Nevertheless,
00:32:55you will take her away from here first thing tomorrow, please.
00:32:58Take her away?
00:32:59But why?
00:33:02It's not good for her here.
00:33:05You will take her away first thing in the morning, all right?
00:33:09If you say so.
00:33:11Good.
00:33:18Hello?
00:33:20Yes?
00:33:21Yes, he's here.
00:33:23It's for you, Professor.
00:33:30Hello.
00:33:31Hello, Clement here.
00:33:32Professor,
00:33:33I thought I'd better contact you.
00:33:35That cloud has started moving.
00:33:38Yes, its variation is about six degrees.
00:33:40Radioactivity increasing.
00:33:41Radioactivity is increasing too, sir.
00:33:44Wait a minute, I'll find out.
00:33:50Yes.
00:33:51Yes, I understand.
00:33:53I'll be up in the morning.
00:33:58The cloud has moved.
00:34:00It is at the foot of the South Coral,
00:34:03where the hut is.
00:34:12Hello?
00:34:13Oh, hello, Alan.
00:34:15No, no sign of him yet.
00:34:18It's foggy as hell outside anyway.
00:34:19I can't see far.
00:34:21Perishing cold too.
00:34:23Yes.
00:34:25Yes.
00:34:27Hold on a minute.
00:34:29There's someone outside.
00:34:30Hang on.
00:34:39Brett?
00:34:40Brett, is that you?
00:34:46False alarm, I guess.
00:34:50Hang on a minute.
00:34:51I'm just going to close the door.
00:34:57Brett!
00:35:06Doris, can you hear me?
00:35:09Doris!
00:35:12Doris!
00:35:13Hello, hello!
00:35:15Doris!
00:35:20Brett?
00:35:22Phone's gone dead.
00:35:27Hello?
00:35:29Are you speaking?
00:35:32Yes.
00:35:34I see.
00:35:37All right.
00:35:39All right.
00:35:45It was the observatory.
00:35:47The cloud has moved away from the hut.
00:35:50Back up to Trollenberg.
00:35:51Jawohl.
00:35:53Ja.
00:35:56We'd better start now.
00:35:57It will be light soon.
00:35:59Ja.
00:36:01I thought the locals were afraid of going up that mountain.
00:36:04They are afraid.
00:36:05There's an unwritten law here.
00:36:06At a time like this, they go up no matter what.
00:36:10I have called the police.
00:36:12I'm afraid.
00:36:14I'm afraid.
00:36:16I'm afraid.
00:36:18I'm afraid.
00:36:20I have called the spotter plane,
00:36:22but it will not be up till morning.
00:36:24We will be well on our way by then.
00:36:26Ready?
00:36:27All right, Herr Klein.
00:36:28Good.
00:36:30Look after yourself, Van.
00:36:32Don't worry.
00:36:33I'll stop by the observatory on the way down.
00:36:35Good.
00:36:37Be careful, everybody.
00:36:50Oh.
00:37:16Oh.
00:37:17Oh.
00:37:18Here they come.
00:37:20Professor.
00:37:22Here they come.
00:37:24The men.
00:37:26They're climbing the ledge.
00:37:28They'll be here soon.
00:37:30Soon they'll be at the hut.
00:37:32Keep them away.
00:37:33Keep them away from the hut.
00:37:35Away from the hut.
00:37:37Away from the hut.
00:37:39Oh.
00:37:48Professor, what's the matter?
00:37:50Why does she behave like this?
00:37:53Well.
00:37:56Well, it's like a radio receiver.
00:38:01You see, a young sister's mind is capable
00:38:04of receiving signals sent out by other minds.
00:38:07By yours, for example.
00:38:09But now, well, now there is a stronger signal, I think.
00:38:13A stronger mind.
00:38:15It's jamming the wavelength.
00:38:17But who is it?
00:38:19Well.
00:38:20Well, we shall know more about that, I think,
00:38:22when they reach the hut.
00:38:25In the meantime, I say to you again,
00:38:27get your sister out of here before it is too late.
00:38:30Too late for what?
00:38:35Hey.
00:38:37Well, it's time I was getting back to the observatory.
00:38:40Too late for what, Professor?
00:38:41When they reach the hut.
00:38:43Then we will know for sure, I think.
00:38:56The door is locked from the inside.
00:38:57They must be in there.
00:38:59Mr. Brett!
00:39:00Mr. Tewhurst!
00:39:01Just locked in through the window.
00:39:02The place seems deserted.
00:39:05Mr. Tewhurst!
00:39:06Mr. Tewhurst!
00:39:07Mr. Tewhurst!
00:39:08Mr. Tewhurst!
00:39:09Mr. Tewhurst!
00:39:11Mr. Tewhurst!
00:39:12Mr. Tewhurst!
00:39:13Mr. Tewhurst!
00:39:28Philip!
00:39:30Come here.
00:39:35These blankets, frozen stiff.
00:39:40Yeah.
00:39:41Brooks!
00:39:55Oh, dear.
00:39:58It's the worst.
00:40:01His head's been torn off.
00:40:05Anne, we're leaving here today.
00:40:08No, Sarah.
00:40:09But, Anne, why not?
00:40:10Look, after last night, surely...
00:40:11I just want to stay here, that's all.
00:40:14Now, Anne, I really mean this.
00:40:16We're leaving Trollenberg today.
00:40:18All right?
00:40:24All right.
00:40:26Now, don't you worry about anything at all.
00:40:29Now, I'll go and fix things up.
00:40:39I'll be back.
00:41:09He could give you.
00:41:26You know these mountains are a climb?
00:41:30What do you think our chances of finding him?
00:41:32Herbert is an experienced climber,
00:41:34so we can only assume he's hurt.
00:41:37I'll get a search order and a spotter plane to be here any minute.
00:41:40Los, mata fertig.
00:41:42Okay, Alan.
00:41:51This is where the telephone went dead.
00:41:53The wires are broken.
00:41:57What do you make of it?
00:41:59I've never seen that happen before.
00:42:01I have.
00:42:03I saw some experiments with excessive cold once.
00:42:06Wire like this is subjected to sufficient cold, it crystallizes, the structure breaks up.
00:42:11It's like this hair.
00:42:12It hasn't been cold.
00:42:14Not cold enough for this.
00:42:16Yeah, I know it.
00:43:06Tort.
00:43:14Tort.
00:43:26Plane to party.
00:43:27Plane to party.
00:43:28Are you receiving me?
00:43:29Are you receiving me?
00:43:31Party to plane receiving you loud and clear.
00:43:34What is your position?
00:43:36What is your position?
00:43:38Our position, map reference 265843, over.
00:43:53Roger, party, I can see you now.
00:43:56I shall fly north for five miles, then turn west for five miles, then south.
00:44:02I shall cover this search area first.
00:44:05Roger, plane.
00:44:12And I...
00:44:35Hello?
00:44:37Hello.
00:44:38I want to speak to the observatory.
00:44:40Professor Cravette.
00:44:41Hello?
00:44:43Hello.
00:44:44I want to speak to the observatory.
00:44:46Professor Cravette.
00:45:11Hello, party.
00:45:12This is the plane.
00:45:13I've spotted him.
00:45:14I've spotted him.
00:45:15He's approximately half a mile due north of your position, above the north base.
00:45:21Roger, plane.
00:45:23Miss Pilgrim?
00:45:25Yes, sir.
00:45:27You may sit.
00:45:30Where are you going?
00:45:32I wish to see you, sir.
00:45:33He sent me here.
00:45:34Where?
00:45:35Flight to Glasgow.
00:45:36I'm sure I'll see you there.
00:45:40I can't wait.
00:45:43Where are you going?
00:45:45I shall have to fly to Glasgow by this evening.
00:45:47Why?
00:45:48Because he's not home.
00:45:51Miss Pilgrim, my name's Wilde.
00:45:53Professor Crevett sent me to bring you to the observatory.
00:45:56But I'm not to go to the observatory.
00:45:58Well, there's nowhere else to go up here, and it's only a couple of hundred yards.
00:46:02I'm to go up the mountain.
00:46:05I don't think so, Miss Pilgrim.
00:46:07I think you ought to wait a while at the observatory.
00:46:20Here is sein Rucksack, aber ich kann ihn nicht sehen.
00:46:39Herbert!
00:46:51Hey, kommen sie her, schnell!
00:46:54Hey, kommen sie her, schnell!
00:47:18Swing it 30 degrees west.
00:47:24How about there?
00:47:25Negative.
00:47:28Hugo?
00:47:29Negative.
00:47:33Swing another 30 degrees.
00:47:39Negative.
00:47:40Negative.
00:47:45Try the other circuit.
00:47:48But wait.
00:47:49Switch back to the first circuit and reverse the scanner.
00:47:55No.
00:48:04Well, hello, Anne.
00:48:06What are you doing up here?
00:48:08I must go.
00:48:09Please excuse me.
00:48:11Go? Go where?
00:48:13To the Trollenberg. I must go now.
00:48:16Don't let her go, sir.
00:48:17Don't worry.
00:48:19Come on.
00:48:25Oh, good.
00:48:26Alan, I want to speak with you.
00:48:28Yeah, I got news for you, too.
00:48:30Hans, when's the next cable car go down the mountain?
00:48:33It shouldn't be long, sir.
00:48:35Good. I want you to take Anne down.
00:48:37Don't let her out of your sight.
00:48:39Anne, I want you to go with Hans.
00:48:41He'll take care of you.
00:48:45Thank you, Hans.
00:48:55Well, I've been to the hut.
00:48:57And?
00:48:58Doris is dead.
00:49:00Brett's missing.
00:49:04Not that I'm surprised, mind you.
00:49:08The cloud has started moving again.
00:49:11What cloud?
00:49:13Oh, I don't think you'd understand, Philip.
00:49:18Like that time in the Andes, do you mean?
00:49:21Like that time in the Andes, do you mean?
00:49:24How do you know about that?
00:49:27All right.
00:49:29I'm a newspaper man. It's my job to know about these things.
00:49:33I see.
00:49:35I chased that story when we got a wind of your report, Alan.
00:49:39When I got there, it was too late.
00:49:41Looks as if I'm going to be more fortunate this time, doesn't it?
00:49:44Yeah, fine, fine. That's...
00:49:46That's just what we need.
00:49:49You haven't answered my question, Professor.
00:49:53What question?
00:49:55Is this the same as it was then?
00:49:57Seems to be.
00:49:59So what happens now?
00:50:02The United Nations have a special team for investigating phenomena.
00:50:06I call them in.
00:50:08Does the theory that you put forward last time still hold, Professor?
00:50:13What theory?
00:50:14Visitors from outer space. That was it, wasn't it?
00:50:17Well, what else?
00:50:18Well, what are they? What do they want?
00:50:20Look, Philip.
00:50:22There are many galaxies besides ours.
00:50:24Now, who knows what is happening millions of miles out in space?
00:50:29Perhaps the world that these creatures inhabit is coming to an end.
00:50:33Perhaps they need to find somewhere else to live.
00:50:35Well, why pick on us?
00:50:37We don't know. It's just us.
00:50:39Maybe it's also on Mars, Venus, Jupiter. Who can tell?
00:50:44Would you go along with us?
00:50:46Until somebody comes up with a better theory.
00:50:49Yes. Yes, I do.
00:50:51All right.
00:50:53All right, while we're theorizing,
00:50:56why do you think do they always happen to land on the tops of mountains,
00:51:00first the Andes and now the Trollenberg?
00:51:02Well, it's the atmosphere, I think.
00:51:05You see, it gets much thinner high up.
00:51:08Well, perhaps these creatures need that.
00:51:10The clouds would seem to indicate this too,
00:51:13creating their own atmosphere.
00:51:15Well, if they can only exist on the tops of mountains,
00:51:17they're hardly likely to inherit the Earth, are they?
00:51:19You see, anyone can get used to anything in time.
00:51:24Now, these movements we have recorded here,
00:51:27each time lower down the mountain.
00:51:30A climatization, perhaps.
00:51:32What next, Professor?
00:51:34The next move is up to you, Alan.
00:51:36You must inform the authorities.
00:51:40Have you seen the professor?
00:51:42He's in the office with Alan Brooks. They're telephoning Zuri.
00:51:45Any sign of Mr. Brett yet?
00:51:47Well, the plane spotted someone he thought was him,
00:51:50and two of the searchers went to meet him.
00:51:52The others are back. This or nothing.
00:51:55Whoever it was, Brett, they ought to be back by now.
00:52:00Where's your sister?
00:52:02She's in her room.
00:52:04Good.
00:52:06You think she's safe from our friends up there?
00:52:09Well, I don't think they'll try the same thing again.
00:52:12Trouble is, what will they try?
00:52:20Brett, you all right?
00:52:24A bit tired.
00:52:26Otherwise all right.
00:52:28Where have you been? We've had search parties out for you.
00:52:31I was lost.
00:52:33Dewhurst came back all right?
00:52:35When did you see him last?
00:52:38Dewhurst?
00:52:40Yes.
00:52:42Last night I saw him.
00:52:44At the hut?
00:52:46Yes, at the hut.
00:52:54It's a bit hot in here.
00:52:57Pour me a drink, Clive.
00:53:01Have one on me.
00:53:10Let me help you.
00:53:12Sorry.
00:53:30How's your sister, Miss Pilgrim?
00:53:33She's all right now.
00:53:35Where is she?
00:53:37She's in her room.
00:53:39Have a cigarette.
00:54:17A bit nervous, I'm afraid.
00:54:20Pretty scary up there on your own.
00:54:23Where you are on your own?
00:54:26After I lost Dewhurst.
00:54:29Sorry to be a nuisance, but may I...
00:54:45Look at his head.
00:54:49There's no blood.
00:55:00That should take care of him until the morning, I think.
00:55:03Good.
00:55:05UNO team will be here tomorrow and Dr. Brecker can have a look at him.
00:55:09Do we tell the others what he was trying to do?
00:55:15I don't know.
00:55:29I don't know about you, but I could use a drink.
00:55:42Alan, what is all this about?
00:55:44Brett behaving like that, I mean.
00:55:46You read the Andes report, don't you know?
00:55:48Do you mean to say something like this has happened before?
00:55:51Well, that part of the report was hushed up.
00:55:55There was an old woman down there. She was clairvoyant.
00:55:58The villagers thought she was a witch.
00:56:00Actually, it was a case of more than ordinary sensory powers
00:56:04and Crevette was able to hypnotize her.
00:56:07She was remarkably sensitive to outside suggestion.
00:56:11You know, mental suggestion.
00:56:14Under hypnosis, one can tell these things.
00:56:17Well, it was about the same time as we first observed the cloud.
00:56:22She started having these trances.
00:56:25It was as though some mental compulsion was working on her.
00:56:29She began seeing things.
00:56:31We planned a course of hypnosis
00:56:33to try and find out where these compulsions were coming from,
00:56:36but we never got started.
00:56:41There was a man. He went up the mountain.
00:56:45He was missing for 24 hours and then he came down.
00:56:48His, uh, coordinations were not quite right, just like Brett.
00:56:52First opportunity he got, he took a meat axe to the old woman.
00:56:57We got there about ten minutes later.
00:57:00We were both dead.
00:57:02How did the man die?
00:57:07Crevette?
00:57:09The man had been dead already 24 hours.
00:57:13I know. I know. It's impossible, of course.
00:57:17But, you see, there are certain changes
00:57:20which take place in the body after death.
00:57:22They follow a pattern that cannot be altered.
00:57:25The man had been dead already 24 hours.
00:57:27There was no doubt.
00:57:29Brett?
00:57:31I was unfortunately unable to perform the autopsy.
00:57:34The police took over.
00:57:36Are you trying to tell me that Brett is like that?
00:57:39That we've just been fighting a dead man?
00:57:43We believe that he was sent down that mountain
00:57:46by whatever's up there for the express purpose of killing Ann Pilgrim.
00:57:51They can't afford for Ann to be alive.
00:57:53She's a threat to their security.
00:57:55They tried to entice her up there.
00:57:58Now they've tried this.
00:58:00It has worked.
00:58:02So what do they try now?
00:58:04I don't know.
00:58:08Professor?
00:58:10I don't know either.
00:58:12But whatever it is,
00:58:14we won't have to wait long to find out.
00:58:44I don't know.
00:59:14Bernie.
00:59:44Oh!
00:59:46Oh!
01:00:14Ah!
01:00:45Oh!
01:01:08Ellen!
01:01:10Ellen!
01:01:12Ellen!
01:01:14Oh, Ellen!
01:01:16Ellen!
01:01:18Ellen, come quickly!
01:01:20Ellen, please!
01:01:23Ellen!
01:01:25Ellen, come quickly!
01:01:27Ellen!
01:01:29Ah!
01:01:32Ellen.
01:01:34Look at this.
01:01:36What?
01:01:38Can't spray the light closer.
01:01:40Now put it lower.
01:01:42Lower.
01:01:43Put it on the floor.
01:01:45You see the way the flesh reflects the light?
01:01:50It's almost as though it was crystallized.
01:01:54Like meat that's been deep-fried.
01:01:58Like meat that's been deep-frozen.
01:02:02I still don't understand how such a...
01:02:11Alan, the observatory's just been on.
01:02:13That cloud's moving again.
01:02:15It's coming down the trolling boat toward the village.
01:02:19Hans, I told you you're wasting your time.
01:02:21That bone is dead. The wires have been cut.
01:02:23We've got to get up to the observatory.
01:02:25You heard what the professor said.
01:02:26That place is built like a fort.
01:02:28If we're going to have any direct contact with these things,
01:02:30at least we'll have some kind of a chance up there.
01:02:32It's insane. We should try to get out to the valley.
01:02:34The road is blocked. The cloud stretches right across it.
01:02:38We better keep moving, huh?
01:02:40Yes, yes. You go in the next cable car with the girls.
01:02:44You caught everyone?
01:02:46We caught everyone. There are 12 left.
01:02:48One car's already gone up, and the other one will be down in 10 minutes.
01:02:51All right.
01:02:54Who's that?
01:02:55It's Hans.
01:03:09All right, everybody, let's get up to the cable car as quickly as we can.
01:03:11We haven't got very much time.
01:03:14You got everything cut up?
01:03:15Yep.
01:03:17Hey, what about Hans?
01:03:18He's driving through that cloud.
01:03:44Professor, are you sure we're doing the right thing coming up to your observatory?
01:03:48Right or wrong, I don't know.
01:03:50What I do know is, it's wrong to stay down in the village.
01:03:53Up there, we stand some chance, at least.
01:03:56Professor, look.
01:03:57On the lower slopes, the cloud.
01:03:59It's moving faster.
01:04:04I hope they see it down there.
01:04:10The operator says it is five minutes now.
01:04:12Good.
01:04:14Alan.
01:04:18The cloud's moving pretty fast now.
01:04:26Please, folks.
01:04:27I'd like for you all to be ready to load in the car as soon as it gets down.
01:04:30We haven't got a second to spare.
01:04:34It's nearly at the hotel.
01:04:36If only we could see into that cloud.
01:04:38At least we'd know what we were dealing with.
01:04:40Hell, we'll know soon enough.
01:05:11It seems to have stopped at the hotel.
01:05:14Yeah, well, as long as it stays there, we're all right.
01:05:17At least that cloud lets us see where it moves.
01:05:24Let's get aboard as quickly as possible, please.
01:05:27That's it.
01:05:28Hurry along.
01:05:30Please, ma'am.
01:05:32Please, ma'am.
01:05:34Please, ma'am.
01:05:36Please, ma'am.
01:05:38Please, ma'am.
01:05:40Please.
01:05:41My kid.
01:05:42Boy, my kid.
01:05:44Of course, the child.
01:05:49That cloud starts to move this way before I get back.
01:05:51Take the car up. Do you understand?
01:05:52What about you?
01:05:53Do as you're told.
01:05:55Stay.
01:06:10Stay.
01:06:35He says they can't do anything.
01:06:38Tell her that Mr...
01:06:44All right.
01:06:45Get in the cable car.
01:06:47That's it.
01:07:08It was a close shave.
01:07:10Yeah, well, we're not through yet.
01:07:38Remember the telephone wires at the hut?
01:07:41Yeah.
01:07:56Does this contraption operate in extreme cold?
01:07:58We've worked the cable car. It's 30 below.
01:08:00Colder than that?
01:08:01Yeah.
01:08:02It's cold.
01:08:03Does this contraption operate in extreme cold?
01:08:05We've worked the cable car. It's 30 below.
01:08:07Colder than that?
01:08:08It never gets colder than that.
01:08:16The cable. It will snap.
01:08:34All right, quick. Everybody out.
01:08:39That's it.
01:08:54We're leaving the villagers out here, sir.
01:08:56The shelter's safe and they won't get in the way.
01:08:58Is the radio still working?
01:08:59We checked it about 15 minutes ago.
01:09:01Oh, Alan, come here.
01:09:04Alan, we're in big trouble.
01:09:06What now?
01:09:07The cloud is splitting up.
01:09:08Splitting up?
01:09:10There are four of them now, and all moving this way.
01:09:14How long before they get here?
01:09:16An hour, maybe.
01:09:17Well, we've got just an hour to decide what we're going to do.
01:09:20Better check that radio again.
01:09:22You're going to signal the authorities?
01:09:23To tell them what?
01:09:24What do you use against these things?
01:09:26High explosives?
01:09:27Bombs?
01:09:28By the time the plane gets here, those things will be all over us.
01:09:30How do they drop their bombs then?
01:09:32Sir, it's still working okay, sir.
01:09:34Good. Let me see that thing again.
01:09:37There's someone knocking at the outside door, Hervalde.
01:09:44It's Hans, from the rappel.
01:09:47I'll let him in.
01:09:49There are five of them now, and all moving.
01:09:52There are five of them now, and all moving.
01:09:58Come on.
01:09:59We'll make up our minds pretty soon.
01:10:01They'll be made up for us.
01:10:05Hans!
01:10:07What's the matter?
01:10:08What happened?
01:10:09The cloud, it was straight across the road.
01:10:12I turned the car and came back.
01:10:17You all right?
01:10:19Yes.
01:10:20I'm all right, thank you.
01:10:25It is so hot in here.
01:10:29Stay here with the others, Hans.
01:10:30You'll be all right soon.
01:10:34Ja.
01:10:51I know it's a lot to ask, Sarah,
01:10:53but I don't see any other way.
01:10:57Anne, where are you going?
01:10:59I'm just going to sit down in the office.
01:11:01All right.
01:11:05But how can Anne help?
01:11:06She doesn't know anything.
01:11:09We don't know for sure that she can,
01:11:11but, Sarah, we've got to try something.
01:11:13Obviously, she has some idea.
01:11:16I thought perhaps with you controlling her thinking,
01:11:18we might be able to learn something
01:11:20about what we're dealing with.
01:11:22I suppose we could try.
01:11:24Professor, it's the thermometer on the south column.
01:11:27It's going down all the time.
01:11:29Gee, it's 45 below.
01:11:31It's still dropping.
01:11:32It's a cloud location, isn't it?
01:11:34There is a cloud there, yes.
01:11:36Wait a minute.
01:11:37Say it's a cloud.
01:11:38It's a cloud.
01:11:39It's a cloud.
01:11:40It's a cloud.
01:11:41It's a cloud.
01:11:42It's a cloud.
01:11:43It's a cloud.
01:11:44It's a cloud.
01:11:45Say it's cold, indeed.
01:11:47They live in cold.
01:11:48Remember the phone wires at the hut?
01:11:50And Brett complained of being hot after he was infected.
01:11:52Yes, and Hans, too.
01:11:53He complained of the...
01:11:54Supposing that...
01:11:55Hans, what about him?
01:11:56He arrived a few moments ago.
01:11:57Said he changed his mind about trying to escape.
01:11:59He complained of...
01:12:00Where is he?
01:12:01Out in the corridor.
01:12:04Where's Hans?
01:12:05He went inside a minute ago.
01:12:07He came in here.
01:12:08Well, where can he...
01:12:09Anne!
01:12:15Go, go!
01:12:18No, don't, no!
01:12:21Wait, wait, my dear, please.
01:12:23Please.
01:12:44Poor devil.
01:12:49He'll be all right, I think.
01:12:51Well, better take care of him.
01:13:11How thick are these walls?
01:13:12I don't know, two, three feet maybe.
01:13:13Fireproof?
01:13:14Well, yes, they reinforce concrete against the avalanches.
01:13:16Good. Hugo, get on the radio.
01:13:18United Nations in Bern.
01:13:19I want to talk to Colonel Spellman.
01:13:21Now that Anne can't help us anymore,
01:13:22there's only one thing left.
01:13:23What's that?
01:13:24What I said before.
01:13:25Every time we've come up against these things,
01:13:27there's been this intense cold.
01:13:28Remember, you said that Brett looked like
01:13:30he'd been in the deep freeze.
01:13:31Heat.
01:13:32That's what we've got to use.
01:13:33I'm going to ask for a bombing raid.
01:13:34You said that was impossible.
01:13:35Firebombs, that's our answer.
01:13:37Through the Bern, Mr. Brooks.
01:13:38Got any petrol?
01:13:39Yes.
01:13:40Fine, get it.
01:13:41In all the jars and bottles you've got.
01:13:50Fire!

01:14:22Fire!
01:14:33Fire!
01:14:36Fire!
01:14:37Fire!
01:14:44All right, I think a bit more on that one.
01:14:46Oh yeah.
01:14:47That's fine.
01:14:49Be sure you get that rag stuffed in there tight
01:14:51so the petrol won't leak.
01:14:56May I have your attention, please?
01:14:59I don't want anyone to leave this corner unless I say so.
01:15:03Understood?
01:15:04In the meantime, get as many of these ready as you can
01:15:06and be careful of them.
01:15:07They're dangerous.
01:15:09And I can tell you that help's on its way.
01:15:18Alan.
01:15:19Yeah?
01:15:22How are we going to use these bombs of yours?
01:15:25You light the rags and throw them
01:15:26at those things in the cloud.
01:15:28Alan, come here quickly.
01:15:31Look at this.
01:15:40Cute little things, aren't they?
01:15:42Yeah.
01:15:43I'm going to throw a bomb at that one.
01:15:44You watch on the screen.
01:15:45See what happens.
01:15:48Would you all go up to the far end of the corridor, please?
01:15:50Except you.
01:15:51You come with me.
01:15:53I want you to slam this door behind me
01:15:55and wait for me to knock to come back in.
01:15:57If I don't knock, don't open it, right?
01:16:02All right.
01:16:04Get me a couple more of those bottles.
01:16:06I saw it on the screen.
01:16:07Those things can really move.
01:16:09Maybe they got to get a direct hit or surround them
01:16:11with so much flame they can't get out.
01:16:12Hey, let me try one.
01:16:13All right.
01:16:20I'll try it.

01:17:30Thanks, Helen.
01:17:32Now what?
01:17:34I don't know. We can't go out that door again, that's for sure.
01:17:37It's the only way in or out of this observatory, I've checked.
01:17:40No more bombs then?
01:17:42Not these.
01:17:44Well, what do we do then?
01:17:46I don't know.
01:17:47There's nothing much we can do but wait for that airplane.
01:17:57What are they doing now?
01:17:58Can't tell anymore. They block out the cameras, you see.
01:18:05Charlie Roger to observatory.
01:18:07Charlie Roger to observatory.
01:18:09Receiving you loud and clear.
01:18:11ETA in five minutes.

01:18:14Mr. Brooks.
01:18:15Yeah.
01:18:16I'm through to the plane. He says ETA in about five minutes.
01:18:18Good. Tell him to make a straight run over the observatory and drop his bombs in the roof.
01:18:22I hope he knows what he's doing.
01:18:24Hello, Charlie Roger.
01:18:26Hello, Charlie Roger.
01:18:27Charlie Roger to observatory.
01:18:29No change.
01:18:31Repeat, awaiting your instructions.
01:18:34Over.
01:18:40Hello, observatory.
01:18:41I can just make you out through a great deal of low-hanging cloud.
01:18:44Over.
01:18:45Tell him to bomb the cloud.
01:18:47Hello, Charlie Roger.
01:18:49Drop first stick across observatory and cloud, understand?
01:18:52Bomb the cloud as well.
01:18:54Over.
01:18:55Wilco Observatory.
01:18:56Sounds crazy to me, bombing a cloud.
01:18:58Over.

01:19:01Yes, sir. Out.
01:19:03Stand by, everyone.
01:19:05The target is that cloud.
01:19:07I'm going in to take another look.
01:19:14Now all we can hope is these walls will stand the heat of those bombs.
01:19:17Well, we shall know soon enough.
01:19:25Oh, no.
01:19:56I'll try a high-level attack first.
01:19:59Here we go.
01:20:26Steady.
01:20:28Steady.
01:20:30Steady.
01:20:31To your right.
01:20:33There you are.
01:20:34Steady.
01:20:36Bombs away.
01:20:55Stand by for low-level attack.
01:21:25Bombs away.
01:21:55Bombs away.
01:21:56Bombs away.
01:21:57Bombs away.
01:22:22Oh, Wilder.
01:22:24Tell the villagers they can go down the mountain any time they'd like.
01:22:26Yes, sir.
01:22:35How about a breath of fresh air?
01:22:38I'd love a breath of fresh air.
01:22:39Come on.
01:22:42Well, Sarah.
01:22:44Doesn't look as though you'll have to worry about her any longer.
01:22:47No, it doesn't.
01:22:48Check it out.
01:22:49Well, Alan.
01:22:50For the first time in weeks,
01:22:52the Thronenberg is free from cloud.
