00:00:00take 50. yeah i gotta call you back okay. hi hi hi i'm so sorry the caterer mixed up a location
00:00:10one of the bridesmaids lost her hotel reservations and i had to track down a cake topper with two
00:00:14turtle ducks. well i'm just happy to be penciled into the busy schedule of manhattan's premier
00:00:19wedding planner to the stars. you have got the permanent ink and two exclamation points.
00:00:26before i forget kaylee insisted on making the invitations for the christmas party.
00:00:32she told me dia jess says an elegant invitation is your first chance to make a good impression.
00:00:37you work so hard on them. smart kid. we are having the asado. no the recita de la cuna. of course.
00:00:48about the party. jess you promised mom and dad are flying in everyone is dying
00:00:55i know i thought i'd be able to sneak away since renee's wedding is in manhattan but i'm already
00:00:59running behind. i am this close to the london promotion. if i can deliver the perfect wedding
00:01:04for renee it's mine. we barely see you now and you live in new york city. what's gonna happen
00:01:09when you're an ocean away? there's video chat and email. well i know it's not ideal but
00:01:18it's everything i've worked so hard for. you understand right? we're just gonna miss you.
00:01:24there's always next christmas. that's what you said last year.
00:01:30judy calls? yes it's renee's dress. she wanted a more traditional style and i promised to drop it
00:01:36off. i hoped i had a little bit more time but renee lives all the way up in scarsdale.
00:01:44dia jess. hi. mom's taking me to see a tree at rockfeller sanctuary. can you come? i'm sorry
00:01:51okay but take notes. i want to see your a-game tomorrow when we do your tree okay?
00:01:58see you tomorrow? i wouldn't miss it. bye. have fun.
00:02:22i love it. it's exactly right. and the veil? there's been a delay.
00:02:41a delay? oh nothing to worry about. just a little mix-up. a mix-up is worse than a delay.
00:02:46we're taking care of it as we speak. i promise you. okay i'm glad you're here
00:02:53because i want to talk to you about the bouquet. the florist is flying the miniature roses in from
00:02:58ecuador. this particular breed grow on the side of a volcano. very fragrant. i had a new thought.
00:03:05about the bouquet? yes the bouquet and the boutonnieres. and i want to walk through an
00:03:09archway of flowers. my mother was going through some old pictures and she found this. oh that's
00:03:18my grandmother. are those amaryllis? jingle bell flowers. that's the name. can you believe it?
00:03:27what could be more perfect for a christmas wedding? my grandmother had one of these flowers
00:03:32pressed for years. when my mother got married it was her something borrowed.
00:03:36you would mean the world to me. well the wedding is less than two weeks away. i know thankfully we
00:03:42have time. actually that's not why i'm here. jessica i put my complete trust in you to deliver
00:03:48the wedding of my dreams. i was assured you were the best. anyone can get miniature roses flown in
00:03:55from the side of a volcano. i want these.
00:04:05the jingle bell flower. yes rare and out of season. i called 10 different floors. no one has them.
00:04:13i see. and what are we going to do about this? well i was thinking of suggesting a more practical
00:04:18compromise. maybe chrysanthemums? there are a dozen event planners in the city that can do practical.
00:04:24brides come to us because we can make their every whim a reality. yes but i can't give her a flower
00:04:31that doesn't exist. renee's wedding is going to be on the cover of every magazine. every talk show.
00:04:36we can't have our name attached to a disappointed bride. jessica do you know what i see when i look
00:04:43at you? a bit of yourself. no. oh. i see potential. with commitment you could go far in this business.
00:04:51you're still interested in the london assignment heading up our international office? yes of course.
00:04:56so get me those flowers.
00:05:03i need them for christmas eve.
00:05:06yes this christmas eve. oh what i didn't think it was that funny. well thank you for your time.
00:05:12merry christmas. candy cane? it's a family recipe. guaranteed to put a little happy in your holidays.
00:05:20oh did you make those? oh well i stuck a patisserie cake tasting for two hours so i
00:05:24just decided to whip up a batch. i mean you know what they say. i'll hands at the devil's workshop.
00:05:29anyway i need your notes on the carter rogers wedding. barbara wants me to cover your
00:05:33consultation. she said you're dealing with a bit of a crisis. oh i wouldn't call it a crisis.
00:05:38oh a pickle? a fix? a jam? nothing i can't handle. well if you're spread a little thin i can always
00:05:44help with renee's wedding. lighten the load. thank you. but i got it covered. if you change your mind.
00:05:51i'm just gonna leave these here. peppermint's really good for stress.
00:06:14hi this is jessica perez. i'm calling for mayor margaret wilson. thank you.
00:06:27mayor wilson, have i got an opportunity for you?
00:06:44so
00:06:57what about a new scarf? i could use one. or a nice sweater. aunt mary,
00:07:05i'll love whatever you give me. ah christmas shopping for you is always difficult.
00:07:10thank you. mayor wilson, here to check out this year's crop? again into the holiday spirit?
00:07:18yeah it's for the flowers. they say music stimulates growth. is that right? there is some
00:07:24research suggesting a link, but i think aunt mary just loves singing along to her favorites.
00:07:30here they are, the jingle bell flower. you two have really outdone yourselves.
00:07:37they're beautiful. best we've ever had. now you're buttering us up. can't i compliment a job well done?
00:07:45okay i may need a tiny favor. would we have enough to spare? spare? i got a call from someone
00:07:51interested in purchasing them. a wedding planner. and if we agree to make a few of our flowers
00:07:56available, she's promised to fully fund this year's music program. it's a chance to get the
00:08:01word out about our little festival. really put us on the map. i guess a few flowers won't hurt.
00:08:08wonderful. and matt, i need a favor.
00:08:16why can't we arrange for a courier? courier? i couldn't assure the flowers would be here for the
00:08:20wedding. tapisa is in a remote part of alaska and limited flights in or out. what happens if you miss
00:08:26one of these limited flights? the wedding's in eight days. these flowers are too important to
00:08:30leave to chance. plus i may have undersold how many we need. i'm hoping it'll be harder for them
00:08:35to say oh once i'm there. 20 hours. round trip. i'll be back before you know it.
00:08:47five minutes.
00:08:49are you sure you can't stay a little longer? dan can drive you to the airport. oh i know i know i
00:09:01just i'm already cutting it too close. kaylee's gonna be so disappointed. she wouldn't let us
00:09:05touch the tree decorations until you got here. i'll make it up to her. here.
00:09:13oh in case we don't connect before christmas. i haven't finished my christmas shopping yet.
00:09:18or started it. up up up. not until christmas. okay thank you.
00:09:25merry christmas kay. can we start with the popcorn shrink? mom says you're the only one
00:09:30that can make them so the popcorn doesn't fall off. i have to take a trip for work so i can't stay.
00:09:36oh. i'm sorry. it's okay. i understand. i know you'll do a fantastic job.
00:09:43you send me a picture when it's done? yeah. okay. okay. bye. safe trip.
00:09:51okay. shall we get started on that popcorn? yes. okay.
00:10:05so
00:10:12airport please.
00:10:36you look a little lost. oh hi. yes i am. i i'm i'm supposed to meet someone here.
00:10:42which way to the terminal? there's no terminal. oh um baggage claim? baggage claim. yes
00:10:50baggage claim right there. welcome to tepesa. take care.
00:11:05so
00:11:26hi i'm jessica perez. i'm meeting with mayor wilson and she said she was sending a car over
00:11:31to pick me up at the airport. can i place you on a brief hold while i check on this? yes of course.
00:11:49um
00:11:59excuse me. oh i am so sorry. i didn't mean to hit it. i i it got stuck.
00:12:04please all yours. just steer clear of d. actually i was actually. yes i'm here. yes. right. thank you
00:12:10for your patience. i just spoke with the mayor and your ride should be there. at tepesa airport?
00:12:15yes. well i don't know what to tell you because i'm standing in the middle of the only hangar in
00:12:21existence and there is no one else. oh you know thank you for your help. i i i think i found him.
00:12:30are you my ride? matt holden. my family grows the jingle bell flowers for the festival.
00:12:35mayor wilson asked me to make sure that you had everything that you needed.
00:12:39yes good thank you. i'm so sorry about before. i i guess i was just expecting someone
00:12:44you know well with a sign. a sign. with my name on it so they can find me at the gate.
00:12:53right. wouldn't want to miss you with all these people here. right.
00:13:00are those my cookies? oh yeah i mean i did spring them free. we we can share. oh no i i don't think so.
00:13:09okay well my truck is parked outside. oh wait. truck?
00:13:23i think your welcome sign has a typo. it says population 112. it is. people? well we certainly
00:13:32well we certainly don't count the moose.
00:13:47oh wow. oh here we are. oh
00:13:54oh. oh they're a lot smaller than i thought they'd be. you could always back out if you want.
00:14:03no hard feelings. no no no no no no no i want them. let's pack them up. okay well they need
00:14:09to be individually clipped wrapped and hydrated. okay okay i just need to be on a plane out of
00:14:14here in a little over an hour. okay well we better get a move on. um so how many sprigs did you need?
00:14:20about seven. seven? like seven baits a milking seven? uh like seven swans of swimming.
00:14:27what is that not enough for a bouquet? no it is it is it is um i just
00:14:35i need enough for boutonnieres and an archway not just okay. oh okay well margaret didn't mention
00:14:42all of that. well the nature of negotiation one starts low the other one starts high you
00:14:47me in the middle. i traveled an awful long way in a very small and shaky plane
00:14:54because i need these flowers to dress the wedding. well it looks like you're in quite a bind.
00:15:00look my client has her heart set on these jingle bell flowers. she has this deep personal
00:15:07connection. they were in her grandparents wedding and i swore to her that i would do whatever it
00:15:11takes to make her dream a reality. please i really need your help. okay i think we can
00:15:20work something out. yes oh perfect oh you have no idea what a relief this is.
00:15:26you're not serious. oh i am it's the nature of negotiation.
00:15:31fantastic. okay so bouquet boutonnieres and centerpiece for the head table.
00:15:38and i really need that archway. deal.
00:15:45i'll get those boxes.
00:15:48oh and i'll get the bouquet.
00:15:51for you. what's that for? well if you want the flowers you gotta help. oh oh it's gorgeous.
00:16:11it's beautiful.
00:16:19uh yeah the roads are in rough shape after the plows went through. i have to take it slow.
00:16:27i'm sorry if i've been a little pushy.
00:16:31i'm sorry.
00:16:33i'm sorry.
00:16:35i'm sorry.
00:16:37i'm sorry.
00:16:39i'm sorry.
00:16:41i'm sorry.
00:16:43i'm sorry.
00:16:45i'm sorry.
00:16:47pushy. i was gonna say brusque but i'm just i've been under a lot of pressure.
00:16:55do wedding planners typically travel thousands of miles for flowers?
00:16:59they do when it's for renee. who? the singer renee. two in love to leave.
00:17:08christmas bells for my baby. nothing? well it's a big deal.
00:17:15it's probably the biggest of my career.
00:17:21everything needs to be perfect.
00:17:31where'd you stop? popular moose crossing. moose crossing? yeah. oh i thought you were kidding.
00:17:39never can be too careful.
00:17:45what's wrong? nothing.
00:17:52are we stuck? no of course not.
00:18:00okay yeah we're stuck but don't worry about it. nothing i can't handle.
00:18:09okay you drive i'll push. oh no no no i can't let you do that. why not? well because you're
00:18:20not dressed for it. oh fine you push. why do i get the feeling like you drive off without me?
00:18:29don't be ridiculous. i don't know the way to the airport from here.
00:18:36i'll count you off. okay.
00:18:40one two three.
00:19:01i knew i should have pushed. it's really winched in there isn't it? yeah we're gonna have to call
00:19:06someone for help. okay here you can use my cell phone. hey mr gregory can you give us a hand?
00:19:12only take a minute. i thought i recognized your truck.
00:19:24okay i'll meet you.
00:19:28i'm fine. oh i'm here hi. hi uh oh i'm sorry you just missed the flight. what?
00:19:34no how how could i i miss the flight if you're right here? well it's a piece of small it's not
00:19:40that small. we have two pilots. oh well of course you do. and uh when when is your next flight to
00:19:45anchorage? do i can get you on one tomorrow. tomorrow? no no no no no no no it is critical
00:19:50that i leave today. oh well i sure do apologize about the inconvenience but i'm afraid you're
00:19:55gonna have to extend your stay. you're in luck though. you're just in time for our annual
00:19:59jingle bell flower festival. oh hey man hey don't worry those flowers should hold up until
00:20:21you leave. oh that's not what i was worried about. is there any way that you can give me
00:20:26a lift to the nearest hotel? what there's no hotels? no i'm sorry. well an inn? a lodge? b&b?
00:20:37where do people stay when they come visit? with friends and family.
00:20:41well maybe they'll let me camp out at the airport. i guess you could just drop me off
00:20:45at the mayor's office. oh she definitely won't be there. where would she be?
00:20:57that sure is a stroke of bad luck. i hope this doesn't put you too far behind schedule. oh
00:21:03no it's my own fault really. i should have factored in the moose crossing.
00:21:09i'm sorry i'm having a little trouble finding cell service. is this bad area? reception can
00:21:14be finicky down in these parts. comes and goes. how often would you say goes? our jessica needs
00:21:18a place to stay tonight. do you guys know anyone that might be able to help? well she can stay
00:21:22with us of course. us? i have an extra guest room. that's what it's there for. what about amanda
00:21:28and them? they won't be here until tomorrow. i don't want to be any trouble. it's no trouble at
00:21:33all. really? thank you. i really appreciate it. and i'll be out of here in the morning. first
00:21:39flight out. why don't you get her settled in? oh i gotta help out with the festival today.
00:21:44we have plenty of volunteers.
00:21:45mm-hmm. okay um i just gotta make a quick stop. okay.
00:22:04yeah the cold could take a lot of people by surprise. oh i'm in new york right now.
00:22:08the cold wherever i'm in. there's new york cold and then there's alaska
00:22:12oh i'm perfectly comfortable. when you get home you're gonna want to cut a few inches off the
00:22:16trunk. if you want to keep it nice and green then just put a little aspirin in the water.
00:22:20a little bit of sugar helps too. hey thanks again for the help earlier on mr. gray. you know i got
00:22:27stuck in the same place last week. are you here for mary street? yes sir. and uh is she uh tagging
00:22:34along with you? no she's doing festival prep all day. i got one special for you. uh actually
00:22:40marta will help you. all right great. yeah but while i'll see you later. okay yeah.
00:22:46so is this your first time at a jingle bell festival? yes. uh uh isa first timer. oh hello
00:22:56hi. we have everything you need right here. an itinerary, history of the festival,
00:23:04a map of tepesa. don't forget about the tree lighting. i was getting to that.
00:23:10it's four whole days of events but i've circled some of my personal favorites.
00:23:14mr. gregory loves the tree lighting but i'm partial to the final night's dance.
00:23:20oh thank you. no no that's it. that won't be necessary. it's no trouble at all. name?
00:23:27uh it's jessica.
00:23:32i'm sorry i i really don't want to be a part of any mailing list or anything. it's for the draw.
00:23:37oh the draw. every year one lucky festival goer is selected for tepesa's greatest honor.
00:23:43jingle bell princess.
00:23:48does she get a crown? no it's a tiara. of course it is. so have you finished all your christmas
00:23:55shopping? oh no. there's a christmas marketplace in the square. i'll be running a booth there. come
00:24:02say hello. great. well thank you for all this. um i should um merry christmas. merry christmas.
00:24:16how long have we been here? i hear the sun sets at four. in the afternoon?
00:24:23when's sunrise? midnight? 10 a.m. wow how do you guys get anything done in the dark?
00:24:30flashlight. oh flashlight.
00:24:47hey room service.
00:24:51that's your carrier? oh uh yeah i i worked on the plane. no change of clothes? no no pajamas? um
00:25:00toothbrush. okay um my aunt mary might have something that you can borrow.
00:25:07those here and if you need anything else i'm just in the uh guest house out back. great thank you.
00:25:19all right.
00:25:21hey lights are all rigged up and the tree is ready to decorate. oh it's perfect. last
00:25:31douglas fir from mr gregory's farm. it was moving fast so he set one aside for you.
00:25:40and terese. i think mr gregory might be sweet on you.
00:25:44oh how's our guest settling in? she's been holed up in that guest room since she got here.
00:25:51oh poor thing. what a bad stroke of luck. yeah i think if she could she would walk back to new
00:25:57york. oh that reminds me you got a letter. second letter this month.
00:26:07you must be anxious to get you back. yeah i'm gonna go get those other wreaths. they're gonna
00:26:12look great on the back porch. i've got my laptop. i can work from here for the time being. do you
00:26:20have any idea when you'll be able to leave? tomorrow. i'll be on the next flight out. this
00:26:24is exactly what i was worried about. and now you're gonna lose a whole day of preparation.
00:26:29the caterers are set. the dress is delivered. we've already done the walkthrough with security.
00:26:33everything is 100 percent under control. oh no. is everything all right? um oh it's fine. i i'm
00:26:42just gonna have to call you back. there she is. i was gonna see if you needed anything but i didn't
00:26:57want to disturb you. oh well i was wondering if you had a cell phone charger. i left mine in new
00:27:02york. i'm sorry i don't have a cell phone. around these parts if you want to talk to someone you
00:27:07just knock on the door. but if you need to make a call you're free to use the landline whenever you
00:27:12need. great thank you. this is a lot of fruitcake. i always make treats for the festival volunteers.
00:27:21going on oh 40 years now. really? when matt was a little boy he'd show up on my doorstep
00:27:29bright and early on the day i made fruitcakes. to give you a hand? i just need some of the
00:27:34batter when i thought i wasn't looking. wow so he grew up here? right down the road. matt's father
00:27:42is uh my late husband's brother. and do his parents still live here? retired to florida.
00:27:47couldn't do it myself. not quite christmas to me without a blanket of snow.
00:27:54oh man the storm is really picking up out there. uh this should get you through the night.
00:28:02the storm? is it is it bad? oh no probably looking at one two feet. feet?
00:28:22hi please tell me the runways are clear. sure are. plows out there working around the clock.
00:28:34oh thank goodness. okay so one ticket to anchorage earliest you've got.
00:28:38jessica. hi. i'm sorry there's no flights today. what do you mean there's no flights today?
00:28:44unfortunately the plane's grounded for maintenance. the plane? there's only one plane? uh yes yes
00:28:49there's one but it's a relatively simple repair. i'm just waiting on the part. wait you're the
00:28:54pilot and the mechanic? i make a mean gingerbread too. okay uh all right well when do you think that
00:29:02uh it will be able to fly again? part should be here by monday. i'm sorry i i must have
00:29:09misheard you. i thought you said monday. i did. as in three days from now? i called in a favor.
00:29:15around these parts three days is practically a christmas miracle.
00:29:18but uh it shouldn't take me too long once the part arrives. oh okay uh sorry no okay um thank you.
00:29:28okay all right i guess this is dubai right
00:29:38oh yeah yeah no problem
00:29:52maybe it's a blessing in disguise. that's a very good disguise. the jingle bell flowers can be a
00:29:58little temperamental. the closer you cut them to the wedding the better. but i guess we could just
00:30:04but i guess we could just use these ones for the festival. and if you don't mind a full house i'm
00:30:09sure my aunt would let you stay a few extra nights. what am i supposed to do for three days
00:30:14in alaska? well you're definitely gonna need a jacket and boots. what? i'm wearing boots. winter
00:30:22boots.
00:30:32oh thank you thank you thank you thank you yes oh so good
00:30:40just right here. thank you. oh where is everyone?
00:30:54matt. hey isa what's up? uh we need your help. we need a few things from our friend here.
00:31:00oh you caught me just in time. i'm just packing some stuff up and gonna close for the festival.
00:31:04oh so the whole store shuts down for the festival? the whole town shuts down for the festival.
00:31:09let me shout if you need anything. will do. all right coats are over here. uh scarves and
00:31:15sweaters. you know i'm also gonna have to stop somewhere to get shampoo or toothpaste. one-stop
00:31:22shop for all your essentials. wow so the pilot is a mechanic and the clothing store is a pharmacy.
00:31:33well okay i'm just spending the weekend. i'm not hiking the himalayas. well you'll wish you
00:31:38had him when you start sinking into the drifts. yeah. when in alaska.
00:31:48so you're from tepesa? born and raised. seems like it would be hard to be so isolated from
00:31:54the world. i don't see this isolation. there's a whole community. life moves at a different pace
00:32:01here. you know people take the time to appreciate what they have and they don't just rush into the
00:32:05next thing. i guess no one told them. oh we got to get this stuff on my chart. come on.
00:32:17so what is this festival exactly? all comes from an old town legend. in the 1800s the town was
00:32:24settled by prospectors trying to find gold. they would decorate their christmas trees with the
00:32:29flowers that they found along the riverbanks. it's a jingle bell flower.
00:32:49thank you for coming out today to celebrate the beginning of the 66th annual jingle bell
00:32:54festival. yeah. we have four days of wonderful events planned for you all. you'll find posters
00:33:03all over town with the full schedule. make sure to circle the final night's
00:33:07winter dance to experience tepesa's most cherished tradition, the bouquet of blessings.
00:33:18and now it's time to kick off the festival. as is tradition,
00:33:22it's time to crown our jingle bell princess.
00:33:32please join me in welcoming our honored guest jessica perez.
00:33:39go on. no.
00:33:42is jessica out there? she's right here. she's right here guys. all right let's go get up here.
00:33:53oh.
00:34:03now jessica, do you solemnly swear to faithfully execute the duties of the
00:34:07jingle bell princess and keep christmas in your heart all the days of the year?
00:34:12oh uh yes.
00:34:27not a word. i have a wedding to plan. i don't have time to be the queen of your festival.
00:34:34princess and it's strictly ceremonial. you shake some hands, kiss a few babies, nothing to it.
00:34:42looks good.
00:34:51uncle matt. hey what's going on little man. there you are. i was wondering if i'd see you here.
00:34:56when'd y'all get in? oh we drove in an hour ago. steve's back at the house.
00:35:00hi i'm amanda. i'm i'm matt's cousin. i'm jessica. oh nice to meet you jessica.
00:35:06so um how long have you two been together? oh no no we're not. no definitely not.
00:35:13definitely not. oh it's not that i don't think that. i mean you're very...
00:35:20we just met. we just. really? yeah.
00:35:23okay. oh i i'm so sorry. uh could you please excuse me for just one minute. sorry.
00:35:27hello hello renee. jessica i need you. i is that a dulcimer? oh no no no no it's a banjo.
00:35:44there's a problem with the dress. again? more beads. i have to leave for a christmas concert
00:35:49in 30. how soon can you be here? well uh i'm a little far at the moment. midtown? alaska? alaska?
00:35:58hello?
00:36:08hey daddy. hey just in time. got everything down from the attic. thanks honey. who's ready to
00:36:12decorate the tree? yeah. i'll get the eggnog and don't start without me. okay we won't. jessica.
00:36:19yeah. would you like to join us? oh uh well i should probably be by my computer in case something
00:36:24comes up. oh it's nearly 10 on the east coast. they could survive without you for a little while.
00:36:31yeah. okay.
00:36:41oh that's beautiful. it's passed down through our family for six generations.
00:36:48would you like to do the honors? oh no i shouldn't. well you should.
00:36:54okay thank you. i'll go grab a step stool.
00:37:01oh i'll get that. hey i thought i lost this. it was a gift from matt. when he lived in manhattan
00:37:10he would send a different decoration every year so that he could be with us in spirit.
00:37:14matt lived in new york? yeah for years. he taught at lexington university. oh and
00:37:19why did he leave? well um my father passed away early last year and mom was having a very difficult
00:37:25time taking care of the farm alone so matt uprooted his whole life to come out here and help
00:37:29her. he got the university to sponsor dissertation while he's here.
00:37:32so
00:37:45now there's four feet of snow night is day and i have to stand on my head just to get reception.
00:37:52and there's no way you can get to another airport? no the nearest one is 10 hours away and every
00:37:58flight is booked thanks to christmas. oh what are you gonna do? i just manage things from here until
00:38:03the plane is fixed. so tell me more about this senor jingle bell. is he cute? i'm in the middle
00:38:11of a crisis it doesn't matter how cute the flower guy is. oh you're right. the better question is
00:38:16is he single? wait a minute are you making turrones? si. i finally talked tia linda into
00:38:23giving me the secret recipe. no. this whole time the secret ingredient was acacia honey. oh
00:38:31yeah. oh i hate being so far away. i know but it's good practice for london. oh right
00:38:44hey cara i'm gonna have to call you back okay? okay
00:38:55good morning. hi. oh wow look at all that snow.
00:39:04wouldn't you rather play outside? well i would but my mom says i have to practice
00:39:09my mom says i have to practice on the piano for an hour every day.
00:39:13oh i see. well i'll leave you to it. the community center's pipes broke. so we just lost our venue
00:39:21to the dance. good morning. good morning. hi. there's coffee in the pot. oh thank you. well
00:39:28maybe we could split up the dance over two different venues. oh uh no don't do that
00:39:36i'm sorry i'm minding my own business. we had been planning to make the food on site
00:39:42but even if we do find a new spot to host we most likely won't have access to a kitchen.
00:39:49i guess we could find volunteers that can make something simple and transport.
00:39:54lasagna maybe? yeah.
00:39:59i'm guessing that's a no too. you can't serve lasagna.
00:40:05if the venue is already small that means seating is limited.
00:40:09you can't serve a food that's difficult to eat especially one that stains. she has a point.
00:40:17sorry i'm late. a moose and his calf were crossing beecher road.
00:40:22huh i'm starting to think these moose crossings are worse than rush hour traffic.
00:40:28any luck with the community center? it's definitely a no but i might have an alternative.
00:40:35so
00:40:46i know it's not much to look at now but the best we can do under the circumstances
00:40:51it's either this or we cancel the dance. well it's certainly big enough.
00:40:55i know you'll be able to work wonders. i'll do my best. if there's anything else you need let me know.
00:41:05diamond in the rough.
00:41:14they're very very rough.
00:41:19the jingle bell dance is supposed to be the festival's big finale. you know the night
00:41:22everyone looks forward to all year. this this is a disaster. well i once planned a destination
00:41:29wedding on a cruise ship and the night before i was stuck in an island port 500 miles away.
00:41:33what'd you do? what you're gonna do now? improvise. look all you need is just a little
00:41:40imagination. we can put the band there then we can just scatter tables around the hall
00:41:45and string up some lights. we? well i'm clearly stuck here for the time being so let me help you.
00:41:53it's the least i can do.
00:42:06those don't go together. actually they're both indigenous to the region.
00:42:14all right.
00:42:15tada. not bad. trust me this is what i do. that looks beautiful. well
00:42:32we might as well put that expertise to good use.
00:42:39jessica could you give me a hand with these lights? i don't know what happens in this box
00:42:42but they always end up a tornado. i'd be happy to help. oh thank you jack. another fire.
00:42:47you can handle this on your own right? oh yeah. great thank you. you're a lifesaver.
00:42:59hey. hey. i don't know what to do with these napkins. oh let me see.
00:43:04wow. do you like it? i could also do an elf's hat or a tree or a swan but that
00:43:09doesn't really fit the decor. oh it's lovely. here you try. okay.
00:43:17like this? well that might be better than mine. amanda do you know where the white lights are?
00:43:22oh uh yes we stored them back in the supply closet. i'll go get them.
00:43:26oh uh yes we stored them back in the supply closet. i'll go get them.
00:43:45oh.
00:43:51here you go. thank you.
00:43:53no problem.
00:43:56oh. what's this? uh well the elementary school used to hold their christmas pageants here.
00:44:04really?
00:44:07i have an idea. cool. what are you thinking? well.
00:44:23i can't decide. what's our theme? what do you mean? what do you want our snowman to be?
00:44:31jolly. i'd go with top hat. and don't worry i'm waving my normal consultation fee.
00:44:38all right. um man. so hold on. what brought all this on? oh we uh we used to have one of
00:44:48these every year in my town. and let me guess you were the reigning champion. no. i was the judge.
00:44:57what is all this? a snowman building contest?
00:45:01jessica's idea. i just thought that they might have fun.
00:45:07i think we may have found a new addition to the festival.
00:45:10oh. me too. good job. thanks.
00:45:22that's a beautiful song. off your second album right? hi.
00:45:28i thought i was meeting with entertainment tonight tomorrow. oh i'm not a reporter. i'm
00:45:32with novak events. i have your bail. oh. i just want to reassure you we're dotting every i and
00:45:37crossing every t when it comes to your big day. i appreciate that. jessica has not let me down yet.
00:45:42hopefully she'll be back in time for the ceremony. you don't think she will be? she's certainly trying
00:45:49her best. i know how stressful it can be to have your wedding planner out of reach.
00:45:54i'm rebecca. you can feel free to call me day or night. thank you.
00:45:58no. no. no. no. no. no. no. it's 209 vegetarians, 86 gluten-free, and 17 paleo. and a partridge in
00:46:06a pear tree. okay. that last part was a joke. hello? hello? oh. the call dropped. i have almost
00:46:18no censors here. well for some it's a selling point. who? who are these people? everyone.
00:46:31gather around. i'm going to need your help. we're going to light up the tree. so let's count down
00:46:37from three. okay. all together. three, two, one.
00:46:55aren't you glad you didn't miss this?
00:46:56yes. princess duty calls.
00:47:10come on now. heavy is the head that wears the crown. all right here.
00:47:27so jessica's night.
00:47:46when's the last time you went out on a date? three months ago. you set it up. oh i remember that.
00:47:53when's the last time you went out on a second date?
00:47:57manda, it's not that i don't appreciate your well-intentioned meddling. assistance. i'm just
00:48:04not ready for a relationship right now. well maybe you don't have to look. maybe one just
00:48:09dropped in with the blizzard. do you want two flapjacks or three? matt, it's been two years
00:48:18and i know that you were hurt. but if you dwell on all the might events,
00:48:22you're going to close yourself off to all the wonderful couldbes.
00:48:48hey. hey. um we're just heading down to the hall to do some decorating. oh. you okay? oh yeah. um
00:49:02i just i haven't heard from renee today. isn't that a good thing? not what she typically calls
00:49:07me more than my own sister. she called me yesterday and didn't leave a message and i
00:49:11called her back and she didn't answer. i i really can't afford to lose her trust.
00:49:17pulling off this wedding is a make or break for my career.
00:49:20well maybe you should remind renee why you came up here in the first place.
00:49:37oh do you have any mistletoe? oh no. oh that's too bad. would have been nice.
00:49:43nothing says love quite like mistletoe. i don't understand. i mean did you know that the
00:49:50mistletoe is actually pretty toxic? wow. way to suck the romance out of the room.
00:49:56romance huh? oh just keep clipping.
00:50:05you know i have to admit renee has good taste. these look great in a bouquet. i don't know how
00:50:12you do it. oh well it's just about lining up the stems. no no i mean no spend your life racing
00:50:20around trying to meet someone else's wins you know. weddings can be stressful for couples and
00:50:26everyone expects perfection and the unwritten rule of celebrity weddings is that it has to be bigger
00:50:32and more unique than the last. did you always know that this is what you wanted to do? yeah
00:50:39when i was little i used to beg my mother to plan the christmas parties and the birthdays. i just
00:50:46i like bringing people together creating memories. what about your own memories?
00:50:53what about them? what did you do last christmas?
00:50:57oh i was at a ski chalet in val d'icier france. unforgettable eggnog. okay were you surrounded
00:51:06by friends and family or clients and guests? okay well what about you? when were you gonna
00:51:14tell me that you left in new york? ah secrets out huh? okay well i was married and long story short
00:51:27it didn't work out. oh i'm sorry. oh no no it wasn't meant to be. i know that now but at the
00:51:33time it was hard being in new york but alaska has been good for me. it gave me space. and are you
00:51:44planning on going back? yeah i don't know. um i think i'm i'm happy right where i am.
00:52:04oh this collar is tighter than i remember. goodness ah sorry i thought she might get
00:52:15a better idea if she saw it on a jacket. bad idea right? no no no no no no it's a
00:52:21it's a great idea. okay well i got this for last year's festival.
00:52:25haven't worn it very often. how do i? oh here let me. you smell good.
00:52:41how do i look? you look good.
00:52:44here say jingo bells. okay just smile.
00:52:54oh wow the sun is already setting. i don't think i'll ever get used to that.
00:53:02hey can i show you something? yeah what? it's a surprise. just let me get changed. okay.
00:53:14so
00:53:40all right let's get you up here.
00:53:44wow yeah i've seen it hundreds of times and it never loses its magic.
00:54:04it's just it's just that if if you would have told me a week ago that i would just be
00:54:12sitting on a truck staring at the sky i would have said you were nuts.
00:54:21yeah honestly life is too precious to just race through.
00:54:26sometimes you just gotta stop and appreciate what's around.
00:54:31thank you for bringing me here. of course you know i thought you might want to
00:54:40make a memory all your own.
00:54:55wow i've never seen anything like it. clearest night all week.
00:55:00i feel like we got really lucky. yeah i guess we did.
00:55:03uh so uh i'm gonna go. okay good night. night.
00:55:13hey matt. hey.
00:55:17thank you. my pleasure.
00:55:34i'm still mad at you.
00:55:51hey you still having trouble with that note? i always forget which key it is.
00:55:57give me one second.
00:56:04okay here i used to do this to my niece kaylee when she was learning and it helped.
00:56:12she's the hit of every christmas party. okay which key was it? this one? yeah.
00:56:34i got it. i knew you would. try again.
00:56:55so good. i'd play along with you but i just i'm a little rusty.
00:56:59thought you said you played with your niece. yeah i i used to. i haven't in a while. why not?
00:57:07well i've been a little busy. oh yeah.
00:57:16hi you've reached carlawson. leave a message after the tone and have a very merry christmas.
00:57:21hey sis it's me. i uh i was just thinking about you and i wanted to say hi.
00:57:31call me back okay? hey.
00:57:51um
00:58:13hey what's going on? hey we're gonna take a little break. uh grab your boots and your jacket.
00:58:22okay.
00:58:26so we're uh we're making snow angels? yeah at foley field. it's one of the
00:58:29most popular events at the festival. yeah but isn't that a little juvenile?
00:58:38what are you doing? checking the festival bylaws. nope nothing about an age limit but you gotta be
00:58:44this tall to participate and look at that you just squeaked through. let's go. well i'm not
00:58:49really dressed for it. hey look it's the princess. yes right here. snow angels.
00:58:58okay so do we just yeah? no no not yet. we we gotta look for the perfect canvas. okay where did
00:59:05you do it last year? i didn't. why not? it's it's more fun with a partner. oh okay here. oh
00:59:14this is fun? yeah. all right go ahead. me? yeah fall back. no you first. okay we'll go together.
00:59:25together. okay.
00:59:43okay. all right.
00:59:54you were right. yeah that was fun. cold but fun. hot chocolate? yeah. all right cool.
01:00:13Barbara the reporter from Esquire is here hoping to get some behind the scenes on the
01:00:19Renee wedding. i'll be right there. any word from Jessica? no new updates. maybe it's time for
01:00:31someone to step in. Renee's pretty adamant about sticking with Jessica. in these cases i defer to
01:00:37the bride. besides Jessica has been true to her word and staying on top of things remotely.
01:00:44you and i both know the last 48 hours are chaos and they cannot be handled on a conference call.
01:00:49she's done a good job. we can't afford a fumble. let me get this over the finish line.
01:00:59i'm glad you're you're warm now. yeah.
01:01:02i'll grab these. oh yeah. okay. all right thanks.
01:01:08hi. hi. let me know if you need any help. no thank you. who was our jingle bell flower
01:01:12pendants? ah right uh snowflake or candy cane? snowflake. all right. and what are we cheersing to?
01:01:24to getting home. to getting home.
01:01:28oh um see anything you like? yeah i was looking for something for my sister.
01:01:44i uh i opened my christmas present early. our mother had one just like it when we were little.
01:01:51it's lovely. my assistant got her a gift card.
01:01:59my sister and i live in the same city and i can hardly find a minute for her.
01:02:05but i swear my niece grows a foot taller every time i see her.
01:02:09maybe you should change that when you get back.
01:02:11yeah.
01:02:17so what is the bouquet of blessings exactly? oh well every member of the town is giving a bouquet
01:02:24of the jingle bell flowers and then they write their christmas wish on a little tag and attach
01:02:29it to the flowers and then they place it in the display. it's like a little reminder that christmas
01:02:35is a time of hope. right you'll see that tonight. tonight? yeah at the dance. oh i
01:02:43i didn't realize i was going. well i mean you can't come to the jingle bell festival and miss
01:02:48the best part. i don't have anything to wear. i'm sure you'll look great in anything.
01:02:53i mean there's not like a dress code or anything like that.
01:02:58so would you like to go?
01:03:05yeah i would. all righty then. let's go.
01:03:14so
01:03:25this should fit. we're about the same size. oh wow thank you. the only clothing store in town
01:03:32doesn't sell formal wear and i didn't think i should show up in a parka. well i think you are
01:03:37max socks off. oh well we're not. it's he's only taking me because i help. all right my mistake.
01:03:48no really. now what were you thinking about doing with your hair? um
01:04:07um
01:04:21it's too much. your cousin talked me into heels and a hat. no you do look beautiful
01:04:37hey captain jack. merry christmas. merry christmas cindy. i've got good news. the
01:04:43park came in early. oh really? yep. flight's back on schedule. wheels up 8 a.m sharp tomorrow.
01:04:49oh is there any way we can leave sooner? airport's closed. sorry.
01:04:55not much fun being away from people you care about during the holidays.
01:05:00i'm sure you're eager to get back.
01:05:02yeah yeah. oh there's a chance. a chance.
01:05:09a chance.
01:05:29welcome to pisa to the final night of the jingle bell flower festival
01:05:39these past few days have been full of a lot of wonderful moments
01:05:45with friends and family. well we've reaped my favorite part of the festival. the bouquet of
01:05:51blessings. so if you'll all join me at the back of the room and if i could request the help of our
01:05:57jingle bell princess.
01:06:07jess
01:06:27thank you.
01:06:30thank you.
01:06:38thank you. oh i'm gonna get on stage. okay yeah.
01:06:57so
01:07:14merry christmas mary. merry christmas ben and thank you again for the lovely tree. well when
01:07:20i saw it i i thought of you. oh listen i i was just thinking uh well i thought
01:07:31look i'm not very good at this. would you like to dance? yes.
01:07:50so what'd you write? it's a secret. okay i see.
01:08:01i don't think i've ever seen anything quite so beautiful. yeah me too.
01:08:20so
01:08:30i haven't done this in a while. oh here i've had to help many groups with their
01:08:35first dance tutors. it's just look at me.
01:08:40take a deep breath
01:08:44and sway.
01:08:45yeah there you go. so it looks like tonight was a success. yeah see so thank you for all your help.
01:08:55i'm the one that should be thanking you. for what? for bringing a little christmas spirit to my week.
01:09:02bring me a little christmas spirit to my week.
01:09:15i could ignore that. no no it's okay. are you sure? go ahead.
01:09:32hello hello hello hello can you hear me? please tell me what i'm hearing in the background is a
01:09:37noisy airport terminal. not exactly but i should be able to fly out tomorrow morning. that is
01:09:42cutting it real close jessica. even if everything goes exactly perfect you still need time to prep.
01:09:48i think given the circumstances it makes sense that rebecca takes it from here.
01:09:54you're taking me off the account? i've spoken with renee and she agrees it's best for everyone
01:10:00involved. what about the flowers? we're gonna have to make do with what we have.
01:10:07barbara please i i can do this. i i i know i can. i i just need a little bit more time.
01:10:15we're out of time. i'm sorry jessica.
01:10:30hey there you are. you've got to be freezing. what's wrong?
01:10:52i just lost everything. what happened?
01:10:55i told my boss that i couldn't fly it until tomorrow and they say they couldn't wait.
01:11:00i tried so hard and i let everyone down.
01:11:09i put everything i had into this wedding. i did long hours. thousands of phone calls. i
01:11:15sacrificed dates. christmas plants. all to make this perfect and and now i can't even see it until
01:11:23and now i can't even see it until the end.
