00:00Dismissed Bambang Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has been charged with an array of administrative

00:05and criminal cases, but never convicted on any of them in a court of law or by the Office

00:11of the Ombudsman thus far, so she is perfectly legit to run for re-election to recapture

00:17her post as Mayor of Bambang.

00:19In the end, only the poll body can decide her fate to sign up and run as per House rules

00:25as well as Alice's constituents in Bambang Tarlac, who can vote her out as they see fit

00:31as we hear more from our Daniel Manalastas.

00:36Despite all allegations against Dismissed Mayor Alice Guo, her lawyers said Guo will

00:41still seek re-election in the 2025 polls.

00:45So, well, definitely she will be running for Mayor, sa bayan, most especially sa Bambang.

00:53Una-una, kung talagang gusto siya ng tao dun, sino dapat akong musga?

01:01Aside from her citizenship, Guo is also facing allegations linking her to POGO and human

01:07trafficking.

01:08But for Attorney David...

01:13So, wala namang decisions on her.

01:14Senator Joven Villanueva said it would be ridiculous if Guo is allowed to run again,

01:32describing it as blasphemy or an act of irreverence on our laws.

01:36Senator Jingoy Estrada said any Filipino has the right to present his or herself to the

01:41people.

01:43But this privilege in our Constitution is limited only to our fellowmen and not for

01:48fake Filipinos.

01:49House Speaker Martin Romaldez, meanwhile, urged the Filipino voters to exercise their

01:54right with discernment.

01:55And he added that each applicant's qualifications must be thoroughly reviewed or vetted.
