00:00It would said Ticketmaster customers say they're being scammed out of their tickets
00:03Some customers telling KTVU tonight after they made a purchase their tickets were mysteriously transferred to a stranger and then resold
00:11KTVU's Crystal Bailey joins us now if you're speaking with two people who lost hundreds of dollars and have yet to hear back from
00:17Ticketmaster crystal well Greg. It's a widespread issues with customers all over the country reporting that they've been hacked and tonight
00:24Despite previous reports of a data breach Ticketmaster says it's actually personal email accounts that are getting hacked not their company's platform
00:33Ticketmaster customers coming forward frustrated after their tickets went missing
00:38I feel violated Jennifer Robinson from Martinez says last week
00:43She bought six pre-sale tickets to two different
00:462025 new kids on the block concerts as a longtime fan
00:49She was planning to celebrate her birthday during the band's Las Vegas residency
00:54Monday evening I got what I thought were phishing emails to be quite honest
00:58She logged in to find the tickets had been transferred
01:01It sounds like a bad joke, but the person who accepted the tickets name who who?
01:07She says she tried to reach customer service and Ticketmaster's fraud department, but says they have not been helpful now
01:13She's out of nearly
01:15$1,300 I checked on the Ticketmaster website
01:18The tickets were reposted for resale and they appear to have been resold to some
01:23Unsuspecting fan that has no idea that these were stolen tickets the same thing happened to Julie Parrish from Fairfield
01:28I couldn't believe that
01:30These tickets I just disappeared when she says she bought four tickets in August for a February Blake Shelton concert in Vegas
01:37But on Tuesday all four of them were stolen
01:40Parrish says she got a barrage of emails and among them four emails from Ticketmaster saying her ticket transfers were
01:46Successful to a person. She did not know named Steph Wayne
01:50I started panicking and I'm looking for a Ticketmaster's phone number Parrish lost
01:56$700 earlier this year Ticketmaster announced a data breach
02:00But ensured customer accounts were safe and passwords were not exposed in the breach
02:04Ticketmaster says the problem often originates with a hacker accessing personal email accounts rather than Ticketmaster
02:11But customers are not satisfied
02:13They knew they had data breaches they knew that they had an insecure system their
02:21multi-billion dollar industry
02:22They're basically a monopoly on tickets and venues in a statement from Ticketmaster a spokesperson wrote in part
02:29Our digital ticketing innovations have greatly reduced fraud compared to the days of paper tickets and duplicated PDFs
02:35Having that digital history is also how we are able to investigate and successfully return tickets for fans
02:41They went on to say Ticketmaster is constantly investing in new security enhancements to safeguard fans
02:48And Ticketmaster also encourages customers to use a strong unique password for their accounts now at this point
02:55Robinson and Parrish are still uncertain about whether they'll be able to enjoy those concerts or get their money back
03:00We also reached out to the Better Business Bureau, but have not heard back in time for this report Greg
03:04Yeah, incredibly frustrating for a lot of people Crystal Bailey in studio for us Crystal. Thank you
