Delhi: Google’s Director of Product Management, Sharath Bulusu, says, I've always maintained that when people ask me how to stay safe online, we will do a lot using AI and design. However, there is no substitute for ensuring that people are informed and aware. This goes back to the history of every new development; we have had to educate users to keep their passwords safe, protect the PIN for their debit cards, and safeguard the PIN for their UPI apps. Similarly, we must educate users at every step because the digital world is changing rapidly. It is unfair to expect users to figure it out on their own. It's our responsibility to ensure that we educate and empower users.

00:00I mean like I've always maintained everywhere that people have asked me about how to stay
00:04safe online. We will do a lot using AI, using design, using all of that. But there is no
00:11substitute for making sure that people are informed and aware, right? I mean this goes
00:16back to the history of every time a new thing has come up, we've had to educate users to say
00:20keep your password safe, keep the pin for your debit card safe, keep the pin for your UPI app
00:25safe. In the same way, we have to educate users at every step because the digital world is also
00:32changing very fast, right? And so I don't think it is fair to say, oh the user will
00:36go figure it out. It's our responsibility to make sure that we are educating users and empowering
00:40them.
